Hamburger Steak and Zucchini Fritters Recipe

Food Porn July continues with Hamburger Steak and Zucchini Fritters.

I had this combination again tonight. It took us about a year of experimentation with various recipes to figure out what we liked and didn’t like on a low-carb diet. As a Southerner, I’ve always enjoyed hamburger steak, but zucchini fritters as a low-carb replacement side dish for french fries or mashed potatoes was something I had never tried before and is now a standard part of my diet.

  1. I love zucchini , but I never had a zucchini fritter before will have to try them sometime soon my friend says they tastes like a zucchini hashbrown. I also have yet to try zucchini pancakes

  2. My mom used to make it all the time. She’d serve it with mashed potatoes and green beans, or wax beans, or three bean salad. Sometimes, she’d fry up some onions with it.

  3. The squash family is a much overlooked wide variety of foods, too neglected!

Cooked Spaghetti squash with tomato sauce over it and parmesan cheese garnishing can be delicious. Blue kuri has excellent sweet taste.

There are over 300. varieties and cultivars of edible squash. Most of them easy to grow and hyper productive , as anyone who has grown zucchini knows.

  4. Can you not call it hamburger steak? Yikes, this isn’t the Great Depression. In circles of white refinement we refer to it by its true name… Salisbury Steak.

    I’m playing with you…

Looks good. I love comfort food.
