Dixieland Remembers

The Cyclorama depicts the Battle of Atlanta

The South

Keith Olbermann drew my attention to a small piece of good news tonight. I was watching Countdown when Olbermann had a segment in which he furiously denounced the sesquicentennial of the Civil War. Next year, the Sons of Confederate Veterans and other Southern heritage groups will be commemorating the secession of the Southern states from the Union.

In Charleston, there will be a “secession ball” which the invitation promises will be “a joyous night of music, dancing, food and drink.” There was also be a 10-day reenactment of the shelling of Fort Sumter. In Montgomery, there will be a parade and a mock swearing in of Jefferson Davis as President of the Confederacy.

After hearing of this, I can barely contain my excitement. Montgomery is only a short drive from here. I will be there with bells on.

The best part of the whole deal is that the NAACP plans to protest the White Southerners who attend these events. In the process, Benjamin Jealous will remind them of the hostility of blacks and “civil rights organizations” toward the South, thereby polarizing the races and eroding the tattered remains of their legitimacy even further.

The SPLC will be cashing in on the activities. A few days ago, they condemned the “Family Research Council” and the “National Organization for Marriage” as “hate groups.” Few people outside the progressive movement take them seriously anymore.

The backdrop of the Civil War sesquicentennial will hardly go unnoticed in the South. Once again, Southerners find themselves at odds with tyrannical regime in Washington. Abraham Lincoln, a corporate lawyer from the Midwest, only sought to preserve the Union. Barack Obama, the mulatto son of a Kenyan communist, is shooting for a permanent demographic transformation of the United States.

May we once again rise to the occasion and summon the courage of our ancestors.

  1. I suspect that interest in the sesquicentennial commemorations will largely be motivated by the unspoken understanding that this is a way for whites to stick the middle finger to the Obama regime. Whenever I pull up next to a tree hugging beatneck in a Prius I always make a point to accelerate away when the light turns green at full throttle in my full sized American metal Grand Marquis. Fuck the polar bears.
