I’m really having a great day on immigration. I talked with at least 20 congressional staff members opposing amnesty, “pathway to citizenship,” expedited legal immigration for unskilled immigrants, and everyone was sympathetic and supportive.
All the evidence indicates that GOP is strongly backing away from any immigration treason in early 2014. Even Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio are saying “No Way Jose.” Despite leaked press reports that Rep. Paul Ryan an immigration traitor, open borders immigration loon, this MSNBC article indicates otherwise.
Great job everyone. Stay involved and don’t drop out and give up.
I don’t share your optimism:
1.) Rubio’s amnesty has already passed the Senate.
2.) Paul Ryan has been working with Luis Gutierrez on amnesty ever since the week of his defeat in the 2012 election.
3.) From everything I have read, the GOP leadership and around 1/3 of House Republicans support amnesty.
4.) If they weren’t serious about pushing this forward, there is no way they would be doing it in an election year.
5.) Ted Cruz’s entire career has been based on grandstanding in order to improve his standing in the 2016 GOP presidential primary.
Did we defeat amnesty in the Senate? No, the Republican leadership led by Mitch McConnell sold out and allowed it to be brought to a vote on the floor, and a critical number of Senate Republicans voted for it while the rest led by Sessions made a lot of noise about opposing it.
It’s great that there are “good Republicans,” but they are useless so long as their own leadership is constantly sabotaging them and working with Democrats because they are in bed with the US Chamber of Commerce.

My talking with Republican Congressional offices gives me a two-thirds solid opposition to anything amnesty and open borders.
A Breitbart article earlier today said that at the Republican retreat (yeah, retreat, good word), the assembled members were 80-20 against.

What we should be worried about, what should keep us up at night, is NOT drones, but the fact that even if there’s only 20% Republican support, that’s enough if Boner breaks the Hastert rule, calls for a House floor vote on the Senate Gang Bangers of Eight bill, all Democrats plus 20% of Republicans would pass it. Boehner quits as Speaker and from the House the next day to take his million dollar golden parachute from the Chamber Pot of Commerce.
But I’m with Jack: Today was a lot better than the previous two.
I think our enemies are shifting in to killing us with bad LEGAL immigration. The US voting public hates illegal,immigration anything sounding like amnesty. No matter how much lipstick they put on the pig, it still looks like a pig.

So it would be interesting to see stats on Generationals (people in the country at least 6-7 generations, pre civil war) v “the nation of immigrants” in voting statistics. (Many people I’ve met have never bothered at all with voting politics and never will, like at least 80%. Yes, we may be in an era of sequestration, cutbacks, and belt-tightening in the federal budget, but Congress can always find 400 million dollars more to feed, clothe, and house smuggled-in Guatemalan peasant kids. Come on, they’ve earned it!”
