I think he’s just under a very common misapprehension. Practically anybody you ask about 14/88 will tell you it stands for the 14 words of David Lane, plus ’88’ for the eighth letter of the alphabet, twice (HH) meaning Heil Hitler.
That seems to me unlikely to have been its original meaning. I mean, if you want to say “HH”, why not just say it?
It seems far more likely that the original meaning of “14/88” was a reference to the 14 words and 88 Precepts of David Lane. I see nothing in either of those that we need to be ashamed of.
