A Memorable Two Months

I will start off on a personal note.

I woke up this morning feeling better. I still have pain in my left chest, but it has noticeably improved since last night. I suspected it was just sleeping the wrong way on my side and irritating a rib. If it gets worse or I develop other symptoms, I will go get it checked out but I am less alarmed by it now. Truth be told, it might be better to get infected now and develop some degree of immunity to the virus before it mutates into something worse, which is what happened with the Spanish Flu.

Look how far we have come in two months:

March 15 – 65 deaths

April 1 – 5,102 deaths

April 15 – 28,529 deaths

May 1 – 65,748 deaths

May 15 – 86,912 deaths

This was with a 45 state national lockdown. 2/3rds of states have now emerged from the lockdowns. The majority of the country has reopened to some degree.

Where are we going with this?

After all this shit we have been through, only 3.2% of the population has been infected. Understand that herd immunity kicks in when around 60% to 70% has been infected by the virus. We don’t know how long that immunity lasts or whether this virus will become endemic either.

It is comforting to believe that it is over and now it will “disappear like a miracle” or that it is all a vast hoax and globalist conspiracy. Alternatively, we are only in the earliest stages of dealing with this. The only positive thing that I can say about this is who isn’t going to immediately end up in the death column which is most people under 60 years old. It is very different from Spanish Flu in that respect.

Note: I say immediately because no one knows how long immunity lasts. We go through the flu every year. Can you imagine going through this year after year after year? We’re going to deeply regret missing the boat on closing our borders.

  1. Brad, I, too, have been having soreness/aches for unknown reasons (shoulders, hips, feet) and when I look in the mirror, it almost looks like I aged a little quicker over the past few months. Of course, the chest area is a little more concerning. I read a few articles that there is more cosmic energies hitting the Earth at this time which causes psychological and physical effects on humans. If you believe in that kind of stuff.
