The 2022 Midterms: The South

Culture is king.

As you have probably heard by now, the 2022 midterms were a disaster for the Republican Party. There wasn’t a Red Wave. It was a Red Trickle. It was a #Roevember to remember.

Across Greater Dixie though, the story of the last two years has been deepening polarization and balkanization with Democrats being pushed to surprising new lows across the region. The Hispanic parts of Florida and Texas have become more competitive while Virginia and North Carolina have trended Republican as Democrats have collapsed in rural areas and even NOVA has become competitive. The Supreme Court struck down Roe v. Wade and abortion bans have proliferated across the South.

Alabama

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government and expanded their supermajority in the state legislature.

Florida

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government, swept all statewide races and won a supermajority in the state legislaure.

South Carolina

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government and won a supermajority in the South Carolina House. South Carolina Senate races are in 2024.

Georgia

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government, won every statewide race in Georgia and maintained their majority in the state legislature.

Mississippi

Mississippi hold state elections in odd years. Republicans have a trifecta in state government and a supermajority in the state legislature.

Louisiana

Louisiana also holds elections in odd years. Louisiana has a Democrat governor who wasn’t on the ballot in the midterms. Republicans have a supermajority in the state legislature.

Texas

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government, expanded their majority in the state legislature, won all three Texas Supreme Court races and pushed into South Texas which is now a swing region.

Oklahoma

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government and their supermajority in the state legislature.

Missouri

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government and their supermajority in the state legislature.

Arkansas

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government and expanded their supermajority in the state legislature.

Tennessee

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government and expanded their supermajority in the state legislature.

Kentucky

Kentucky has a Democrat governor who wasn’t on the ballot in the midterms. Republicans expanded their supermajority in the Kentucky House and won an extra seat in the Kentucky Senate.

West Virginia

Republicans maintained their trifecta in state government and expanded their supermajority in the state legislature.

North Carolina

North Carolina has a Democrat governor who wasn’t on the ballot. Republicans captured the North Carolina Supreme Court, won the supermajority back in the North Carolina Senate and came one vote short of a supermajority in the North Carolina House.

Virginia

Virginia also has state elections in odd years. Until recently, Virginia was the only Southern state where Democrats were wielding real power which they lost in 2021 when Youngkin was elected governor, Republicans won all other statewide offices and flipped the Virginia House of Delegates. Virginia Senate elections are in 2023. The Virginia Senate is the only legislative chamber in the entire South that is still controlled by Democrats and only by a razor thin margin of two seats.

Republicans now wield close to absolute power in the South.

The Supreme Court with its new 6-3 majority is headed in the direction of states’ rights and is returning controversial issues like abortion to the states. All of these trifectas and supermajorities are important because Southern state governments are passing state laws which are now surviving court challenges like the Mississippi case that ended Roe. Congress is paralyzed by gridlock, but Southern states are not where “laboratories of autocracy” are steadily creating a patchwork of new laws in the region that sharply diverge from liberal norms in other parts of the country. The big enchilada which is the Voting Rights Act could also go down in the current session of the Supreme Court which should expedite the transition.

The power shift that is happening in both the House of Representatives and the Electoral College is largely due to Blue States losing population and Red States picking up more seats in Congress and House seats. The incoming Florida delegation has four more Republicans. Tennessee Republicans gerrymandered the Democrat House seat in Nashville out of existence. Republicans won a seat in Virginia Beach. Texas Republicans picked up a seat. Most importantly, Alabama, Louisiana and Georgia Republicans didn’t have to draw new majority black House seats. North Carolina Republicans will redraw the North Carolina House map and likely flip three Democrat held seats in the 2024 cycle. Along with the redistricting debacle in New York, the strength of the Republicans in the South is why they are about to take the House.

In this parallel universe, Republicans have trifectas at the state level in 11 out of 15 Southern states. Louisiana, North Carolina and Virginia have Democrat governors. Democrats control the Virginia Senate. Democrats currently hold only 5 out of 30 Senate seats in the region (Manchin, Warnock, Ossoff, Kaine and Warner) with one of those going into a runoff. Democrats hold 47 House seats in the region. Republicans hold 116 House seats in the region. In other words, Democrats hold 14% of Senate seats and around 28% of House seats in the South and that is with Warnock winning the runoff.

Who was punished by voters for banning abortion in the South? In the states which actually banned abortion, Republican governors were reelected and Republicans increased their majorities in the state legislatures. Herschel Walker was punished for being associated with Trump while Brian Kemp and the Georgia Republicans in the state legislature who banned abortion were reelected.

Note: As we shall see, it was a different story elsewhere. White evangelical Protestants are concentrated in the South. 83% of them voted Republican. Those people were pleased with the Dobbs decision and the abortion bans in their states. Even in Kentucky, abortion is still banned and Republicans increased their majority in the state legislature. Trump voters simply didn’t turnout across Appalachia.

  1. Today the establishment janissaries in the house floated the idea of colluding with the D’s to put a Democrat/Rino speaker in control. I hope they do.

The Freedom Caucus isn’t going to have a say in anything anyway, so it may as well be crystal clear the establishment uniparty has no desire to change course.

Let it fester and grind to a halt accomplishing nothing unless they sell out and court democrat votes to pass shit legislation to help Joe Biden get reelected in ’24.

The only function Whitey has in DC is to make it crystal clear they are being deliberately marginalized.

National elections are fake and gay.

    Build strong states.

  2. Hunter and other of our readers actually living in THE SOUTH. Please cultivate real flesh and blood (younger) Southern leaders in the state legislature.

One of our greatest problems is we don’t identify real flesh and blood leaders, enemies and traitors. This results in so many bad things like the anti White Zio media trying force some fake military hero like John Mccain or Colin Powell on our people, or some well liked ex football coach of Auburn or U Alabama.

Somewhere in some Southern legislature is a new George Wallace (before he turned, took the 30 pieces of silver).

Look for pop folk heroes like Jessie the Body Ventura. of some Nascar driver but he can’t be too old.

The enemy knows to payoff pop rock and roll singers, C&W singers like Ted Nugent or Toby Keith – let them mouth off about GUNS, GUNS, GUNS how Liberal Democrats don’t support Israel enough – you know the usual.

Again, please identify real, flesh and blood local leaders – what’s the governor of South Carolina like now that we pushed out that Indian dot head, lobbyist for AIPAC woman who went to the UN.

  3. The Democrats are rolling the dice that with their control of the Federal Government they can shove their agenda down everyone’s throat as they did in the 1950’s and 1960’s. The Federal Government was in a much better position in the 1960’s to walk all over states and the Constitution. There was tremendous trust and goodwill towards the Federal Government then giving these loathsome pricks the benefit of the doubt.

Sixty years of so-called “Civil Rights” wrecking cities, flooding the country with wogs, debts to the moon, inflation, multiple devastating wars neither won nor lost, an obviously corrupt, incompetent, degenerate and cowardly ruling class have caused public trust in the Federal Government to evaporate. All that is left is force and fraud for the Government to enforce its will, there isn’t an ounce of goodwill left. Infinite fraudulent money buys some loyalty but when the money goes bad it’s game over.

  4. “Who was punished by voters for banning abortion in the South?”

Yankees do not understand Dixie, or the rest of America. And never will.
t’s time for the Southern States to cooperate and act in their collective interests, the way that the Northern States have, for the last nearly 200 years. The Yankees will never abide by the Constitution, or be Jeffersonian republicans. It’s not, and never was, in the interests of “their nation,” to do so. Nor will it ever be. They cannot live as political and legal equals with people that they regard as being little better than talking animals, or as children, or as subordinate subjects. That’s why we need to be rid of them once and for all.

    Southern Nationalist Party. Now.

    End Reconstruction. End the War(s).
