As I said yesterday, the Christian nationalist world revolves around daily accusations of “racism.” Every single day someone is accused of being a Nazi or “Woke Right” by antiracist Christians. Doug Wilson of Moscow, ID usually chimes in to try to triangulate between the two sides.
When I was writing that article yesterday morning dismissing Eric Striker’s claims about Christian nationalism, I was unaware that the usual Christian-on-Christian racism accusations were reaching a fever pitch over a White Boy Summer tribute video that was made by Samuel Holden. The provocative video in the first post above and the hysterical pearl-clutching over it is an excellent illustration of this dynamic. All the heat in the Christian nationalist world is over racism accusations and between institutional elites and lay people, not theological differences between Protestant groups.
In related news, PRRI has a new study out which sheds a lot of light on Christian nationalist attitudes about race and why the ongoing racism accusations have become so intense:
