Donald Trump really didn’t make any news last night.
There was nothing in his Joint Address to Congress which we haven’t heard before.
In my view, the Democratic response to Trump was more revealing than anything Trump said, as it made clear that progressives and moderates are moving in opposite directions. Sen. Elissa Slotkin delivered the official response on behalf of the Liz Cheney wing of the party. Rep. Al Green made a scene and was ejected from floor by the sergeant at arms. Rep. Jasmine Crockett spoke for black women. Lots of Democrats came dressed in pink or held up these stupid signs which were off putting.
Note: Third Way released a big report called Renewing the Democratic Party which is a moderate manifesto. It is hard to see progressives accepting any of its conclusions.
Looks like I am the first to comment here, but I want to give a heads up.
Please refrain from profanity in your comments. It makes moderating difficult. If you write a short comment that isn’t that great otherwise, the whole thing will get deleted if there is even one word of profanity. For posts that otherwise make good points, I feel like I have to go in and edit that one word and it takes up time. If you write a really long post I feel bad for deleting it over one word, so again, I have to take extra time to go in and edit it.
I will remind everyone of this maybe a couple more times, and then after that will just start deleting posts no matter how long they are.
