Democrats are adjusting to their new role as the feckless minority party faster than I thought.
“House Democratic leadership is privately confronting members who disrupted President Trump’s speech to Congress, Axios has learned.
Why it matters: Many progressives defied House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries‘ (D-N.Y.) request to avoid making themselves the story.
Jeffries, in a dear colleague letter ahead of the speech, urged a “strong, determined and dignified Democratic presence in the chamber.” …
Roughly a dozen Democratic disruptors — including Reps. Melanie Stansbury (D-N.M.), Jasmine Crockett (D-Texas), Maxwell Frost (D-Fla.) and Maxine Dexter (D-Ore.) — were called into a “come to Jesus meeting” on Thursday morning, the senior Dem told Axios. …”
In Trump’s first term, the GOP was fractured with one foot in Reaganite past and one foot in the Trumpist future with the Democrats becoming an ideologically incoherent “anti-Trump” majority. This worked for them in the 2018 and 2020 elections. They didn’t have to stand for anything except being against Trump. Biden swung so far left he couldn’t hold the anti-Trump coalition together.
Today, Trump presides over a unified and ideologically coherent GOP. He is now in a far stronger position than he was in his first term. The Democrats are composed of disparate factions each of which has their own idea of how to move forward. They have no common leadership or vision.
“The House on Thursday officially rebuked Representative Al Green of Texas, the Democrat whom Republicans ejected from the chamber on Tuesday night for standing and heckling President Trump during his address to a joint session of Congress.
A resolution of censure passed 224 to 198, with 10 Democrats joining Republicans in support of the punishment. Mr. Green and Representative Shomari Figures, a first-term Democrat from Alabama, both voted “present.”
But when Mr. Green stepped into the well of the House to receive his official scolding for a “breach of proper conduct,” the floor devolved into a scene of chaos. The Texas Democrat led a crowd of his colleagues in singing the gospel anthem “We Shall Overcome” as Speaker Mike Johnson raised his voice and finished reading out the censure. …”
For most of the last 75 years, the Democrats have been the governing party and the Republicans have been the minority party and the opposition. This pattern appears to be reversing.
Actually Gaza happened and the basic contradiction in the old Jewish coalition was blown wide open but you refuse to admit to that fact because it undermines the contrarian corner you painted yourself into over the TRS drama.
Christianity is not returning anymore than Dan Bilzerian will lead a triumph of Islam in the West.
Just a quick question here, not particularly related to this entitled black goofball and his censure. What has happened to commenting on this site? I’m a lurker that includes OD as part of a wide range of dissident right websites that I scan for news and info on a (semi-) regular basis, and the comment section has just fallen of a cliff lately.
It’s distressing, because not only are comment sections often the most lively part of any website, I don’t trust any site that doesn’t have one. Doesn’t matter if I use them or not; it’s a “Vox Populi” issue.
Why are so many articles so completely dead, even after days on end, when they used to get dozens of comments regularly?
Is the website dying? Huh?
I see things differently. Trump is babbling like an idiot on tv every day, uttering incoherent, contradictory sentences about Ukraine, Russia, the tartifs against Canada and Mexico. With his “hero in his own mind” arogant attitude he had created enormous hostility even among the righwing symphatizers in Europe and all over the world. The Russians and Chinese expecially, see him as very weak and stupid person, who issues all kinds of threats but is incapable to follow up on them. If this behavior loses him also the support of the Americans then we could see the return of these insane coloreds and jude who ran America from 2020 to 2024.
More black women in the democrat party! More, I say! They need more representation, don’t you know? It’s not like the rest of the voting base can’t stand them. What’s the worst that could happen, lol…
