Richard Spencer Reacts To Matt Walsh

2017-2018 was a catastrophe.

In retrospect, it was also a blessing in disguise. The Alt-Right was smashed by the Charlottesville lawfare and the Iron Curtain of censorship. It had the effect though of clearing out people like Spencer and a bunch of YouTubers similar to how controlled fires are used to manage and eliminate underbrush. It is what made possible the rapid mainstreaming of our talking points since 2020.

The collapse of the Alt-Right was followed by three critical developments:

1. First, people like Spencer and TRS shifted Left and began their “OMG, Joe Biden is so based” arc, which cleanly separated them from their previous rightwing audience.

2. Second, people like Tucker Carlson and Matt Walsh inherited the audience and essentially replaced the old leaders. They cleaned up the message and sold it to a larger audience.

3. Third, a combination of COVID, the George Floyd riots, Trump’s defeat in 2020 and the Biden administration radicalized the conservative base and created an appetite for it.

In many ways, I think Alt-Right activists were their own worst enemy, particularly their hostility to conservatism and Christianity, which was an albatross that made their message unpalatable. This began to change with Tucker Carlson Tonight in 2018 down to the present day.

The Left really did us a favor by deplatforming activists. They took all the unpresentable people who are terrible communicators out of the public conversation. Tucker, Matt Walsh, Darryl Cooper and others can say the same things and sell it. We saw Joe Rogan repeating The Mantra on his show.

Note: I watched Spencer and Enoch get hooted down at the University of Florida in 2017.

  1. He goes into many other subjects – Bronze Age Pervert (from our circle of forums), Sarah Stock. I find it interesting how some people like Niccolo, you, Thomas777 and BAP have gotten a pretty big following, while others like Macrobius, me, Ixabert and Overwatch are basically marginal. Even if I’m an idiot (which I would dispute), the other three clearly aren’t dumb.

    • Ix recently posted a list of X accounts from people who used to post on The Phora. I didn’t know Vanessa was still around

      • I did some thinking about why a right/left synthesis could exist on thephora, but never works out on the street. I didn’t really come up with a good answer. I mean, I suppose free speech was more restricted back then and media was more concentrated, so it might have caused an unlikely alliance. But I don’t have a good concise answer about why it worked then but doesn’t work on the street.

        • Five years ago, I was all for it, but the “populist Left” transformed into generic shitlibs under Biden. I still hate watch Kyle Kulinski’s Secular Talk

          • I remember when MsNBC had Pat Buchanan and Tucker Carlson on the same network with Chris Matthews. What occurred on thephora probably wasn’t a left-right synthesis, it was just use of the same news outlet.

Three events really destroyed the idea of a left-right synthesis. Occupy Wall Street, the election of Trump and Charlottesville.

I do think American leftists are too liberal and not enough focused on economics.

          • > I do think American leftists are too liberal and not enough focused on economics.

I would say they’re not focused on economics at all apart from the most superficial booboisie level and instead focused on hating whites, the civilization created by whites and the Christianity who nursed it into a major force for good. They have a hate-YT monomania arguably worse than that of many NTJ – though the one who penned a 3000-word hagiography of an Austrian painter tends to prove the NTJ folks are as bad.

    • Well, if we’d had the foresight to invest in bitcoin like Meister Ixabert, the story might be different. Characters like Costin Alamariu and Darko Peric almost certainly (given all we’ve seen over 20 years) work for intelligence agencies and even if they had no charisma they would still be astroturfed like Ed Dutton. Whereas even if the rest of us had money, charisma, and far greater intelligence than those characters, any potential for social media presence would be strangled in the cradle by means of shadow banning or outright banning.

  2. Why would it be infuriating for mainstream conservatives to adopt white nationalist talking points?

Because for Spencer and his ilk, it was never about outcomes. It was always about being edgy, the outsider. That was HIS grift. He didn’t “invent” those talking points either. He adopted them after reading Nietzsche and Heidegger.

  3. He has no relevance ……. You were punched in the face, Mr.Spencer and took it, you AIN’T no STORMTROOPER, you might be able to captivate the 12 year old mentality, but real men, are listening to M.walsh and thinking about other things than porn, Jewish Homosexuality, Nietzsche ……. Mr.spencer you Pale in comparison too the Host of this, most Relevant site … But don’t despair ……. That table on the ” VIEW ” has a chair, with your name on it …….

    • why do you people write like this? the affectation combined with lolsorandom quirk-isms. stop larping and just be yourself.

  4. This guy (Spencer) is the one who seeks attention….. he’s nothing and listening him bring to nothing. He’s not far-right anymore (assuming it ever was) he’s not a former…. He’s too egocentric and also not soon stupid to repent, Picciolino tried to convert him in the past but fortunately failed in his attempt.
Now this guy praise the left, condemn everything is right wing while still attend a lot of far-right /Alt-Right personalities….. This make him a human nonsense.

  5. spencer is a narcissitic ego maniac thats just butthurt he’s not the leader, and not getting credit. but he didnt come up with those ideas either. he was ALSO late to the party, and more insincere because he’s a libtard.

yeah walsh changed his tune, he used to attack us, he’s a dork. but i actually want to win, not be edgy, so this is fine with me. all the dorks will believe what we do and then we’ve won. thats what it looks like.

    • Spencer’s everything the groyptards wish they could be: he’s wealthy, highly educated, has read ancient philosophy, is handsome, and is actually white. He could be their leader if he succumbed to audience capture and fed them slop about Trump’s the greatest, vaccines kill, “MAHA,” “Christ is King,” and he knows that, but he doesn’t do it because he has actual integrity.

  6. Read that St. Floyd of fentanyl’s family listed $1900 in assets four years after getting $50 million.
These things happen in a steaming fourth world turd.

  7. You have to understand that Spencer and the Alt Right got burned by the treachery of the mainstream right for years, and then they just steal his ideology for grifting money once they purged the radical right. It is hard to not sympathize with Spencer’s point. Also, I am unsure how much the mainstream right actually is redpilling rather than gatekeeping, and how sincere they actually are…

  8. I can’t listen to RS. His delivery is insipid and drawn out, and he’s waffling on about people who’ve become more right than they used to be. I mean, isn’t that a good thing?
The whole video was a petty rant.

    • Hopefully his USAID spigot will be turned off permanently soon. It’s still partially flowing thanks to the massive lawfare being waged by the Judeo-Catholic legal establishment.

    • I don’t know why he’s given so much attention. He has hardly made a single cogent take in years. It’s always some vague bloviating that ultimately amounts to very little substance. I didn’t watch the video because I’ve already wasted enough of my time on this failson. I used to follow him years back but recent years have really proven Greg Johnson right about him being an overrated hack. I have long since moved on from Spencer but everyone I currently follow just can’t help bringing his slop to my attention. They maintain some bizarre fascination with him despite their disdain for him.
