“SAN FRANCISCO — Gavin Newsom has rallied Democrats in his war with Donald Trump, casting it as a fight for the future of American democracy. But maybe not for long.
As the left watches the clashes in Los Angeles drag on — with images of burning vehicles and protesters brawling with law enforcement proliferating — Democrats are also beginning to fear the imagery could hurt them by highlighting Trump’s hardline positions on immigration that helped propel him to the White House.

I see the White House is already cutting the highlights of the riots into polarizing 2026 attack ads which reinforce tried and true themes of the ongoing backlash that worked in the last two elections: open borders, violent Antifa, effeminate soyboy urbanites, woke madness, socialism, etc.
2026 won’t be like 2020. The “mainstream media” has collapsed. Television audiences are shrinking. Alternative media is growing. Boomers are declining in the electorate. A growing share of the electorate, which isn’t watching cable television, is forming their political opinions based on social media clips, memes, images and what they are going to see is a bunch of freaks who reinforce stereotypes.
