As I said on X, no one has a clue what is in this thing.
It is not a stand alone tax cut or immigration restriction bill. It contains controversial Medicaid cuts. The Senate version contained a provision to auction off federal lands until the very end. Yes, there are various things in the bill which are great and which we support and which will make a difference, but immigration is being used like a booster rocket to launch much less popular proposals into orbit.
Note: In classic GOP fashion, the BBB messaging is getting overshadowed by Trump’s announcement on Maria Bartiromo’s show that there would be a “temporary pass” handed out to illegal alien farm workers and illegal aliens who work in hotels and restaurants.
Nothing for the working-class and middle-class. Public lands will be opened up to pillage by corporations.
The SALT cap will be increased to $40K which means the Top 10% can write off up to $40K in property taxes on their Federal income taxes.
People with kids will get a few hundred more bucks in Child Tax Credit.
