Trump on Truth Social is somehow even more incoherent than Cantwell’s meth-fueled paranoid ramblings on Telegram shortly before his recent arrest (don’t know if you saw that Brad).
Dump and his grifter army campaingned on it and holding those associated responsible, when he probably would have gotten elected having never brought up epstein but he went there for the cheap political capital anyway (probably knowing full well he wasn’t going to release squat) because he’s an arrogant fat head. Or telling Americans no more neocon israel wars. Or like giving amnesty to his business cronies employees, so looking the other way at those criminals, while telling the pepsi’s illegal contituency that nobody is above the law is the same tired hypocracy. Now he’s getting a taste of America’s pathological liar politician fatigue. Dump only likes sycophants, that’s why he endorses a pos like lindsey graham and it seems when people close to him gives him soft criticism or some opinion on a matter and he isn’t in agreement, he immediately turns on them and calls them names in public like a stupid arrogant fat head. Dump has only himself to blame for the chickens are coming home to roost for that big mouth of his. Pride before the fall.
I am not particularly happy with Trump and the direction things have moved, but if you want an idea where I believe the mind of any rational thinking person should be, go read Anglin’s latest rants and orient your thinking directly opposite. I’ve spent years trying to sort of defend him, because occasionally he will say something that makes some sense. But read his ranting about ICE funding. He’s making Alex Jones look good by comparison.
For the last 15+ years, this sphere in politics has been almost universally pushing for a stronger border and border patrol. A wall, and an agency with the authority to secure the border completely, as well as deport aliens who should not be here.
Anglin’s paranoia has gotten the best of him, and he’s starting to sound like an open borders anarchist. “We can’t fund a bigger ICE agency because it will just be another huge government agency with powers to round up dissidents when the democrats take over again”. That’s essentially his argument. “Don’t ask for border security anymore. It’s not in your interests because X”
This is the dysfunction with right wing dissidence. There is so much paranoia that even when we gain, we stand in opposition to the gain because at the last minute, we decide that the gain is really a loss.
We are our own Charlie Brown. We don’t need “conservatives” to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory. We do it to ourselves.
Trump has badly underestimated the importance of the Epstein scandal to his base. He thinks he can brush the scandal away with a few angry tweets and name calling, a tactic that has worked well against recalcitrant politicians and other bad actors. This is different. Sex with children is simply intolerable to decent people which, by definition, excludes the ruling class.
Perhaps Trump will decide Our Greatest Ally, thousands of miles away, should help him with another war against Iran as a “patriotic” distraction for his base. That won’t work either because public support for another war is zero. Iran has announced they will strike back hard if attacked again meaning a second war with Iran could catastrophically interrupt oil supplies. Trump wouldn’t be the first president to use a war to try to rally the country with a patriotic appeal. He should remember: patriotism is the last refuge of the scoundrel.
