Over the past few days, Trump & his supporters have moved to ever more explicit justification of the January 6 attack on the Capitol. Is it time at last to use the F-word? https://t.co/1kiTlmC1nN— David Frum (@davidfrum) July 13, 2021
Fascism is marked off from other forms of illiberal authoritarianism by its explicit repudiation of legality and by its valorization of violence. Presidential Trumpism didn't quite go there. Post-presidential Trumpism – different story. https://t.co/1kiTlmC1nN— David Frum (@davidfrum) July 13, 2021
I’ve always hated this disgusting neocon.
It has nothing to do with “fascism” though. Quite the opposite.
My beef with David Frum goes back to the George W. Bush administration when he created the phrase “Axis of Evil” and when he was part of the Jewish clique of warmongers who plunged us into the Iraq War in 2003. Back then, he was a gatekeeper at National Review who sought marginalize anyone on the Right who was opposed to his own brand of reckless militarism and imperialism.
It was David Frum who wanted to send Americans to die in foreign war zones like Iraq and Afghanistan. Fortunately, he never got the chance to plunge us into Iran and North Korea or even worse Russia in the name of spreading “democracy.” Hundreds of thousands of people died in those wars which destabilized the region and also unleashed ISIS. Thousands of American soldiers lost their lives. Trillions of dollars were squandered on that project which was the biggest foreign policy debacle in American history.
Discredited neocon elites seem to fail upward though and now he is editing The Atlantic. The neocons are found these days on MSNBC. It was people like David Frum who revived populism in my youth. Since the days of William Jennings Bryan, American populists have been opposed to imperialism and militarism and it is progressives who have used military force to spread liberalism around the world.
“I became worse.” That’s how double impeachment changed him, Donald Trump told a conservative audience in Dallas last weekend, without a trace of a smile. This was not Trump the insult comic talking. This was the deepest Trump self. And this one time, he told the truth.
Something has changed for Trump and his movement since January 2021. You can measure the difference by looking back at the deadly events in Charlottesville, Virginia, in 2017. Trump made three statements about those events over four days. He was visibly reluctant to speak negatively of the far-right groups. He praised “fine people on both sides” and spread the blame for “this egregious display of hatred, bigotry, and violence on many sides.” …
We are so accustomed to using the word fascist as an epithet that it feels awkward to adjust it for political analysis. We understand that there were and are many varieties of socialism. We forget that there were varieties of fascism as well, and not just those defeated in World War II. Peronism, in Argentina, offers a lot of insights into post-presidential Trumpism.
Trump’s no Hitler, obviously. But they share some ways of thinking. The past never repeats itself. But it offers warnings. It’s time to start using the F-word again, not to defame—but to diagnose.”
The “fascism” narrative is ridiculous.
Who is burning churches?
Who burned down entire cities?
Who despises the Bill of Rights?
Who is censoring books on Amazon?
Who refuses to enforce the law equally?
Who topples statues of George Washington?
Who is racially demonizing White Americans?
Who has a private militia of violent street thugs?
Who has imposed a political litmus test on the U.S. military?
Who is rounding up dissidents and throwing them in gulags?
Who ordered the National Guard to occupy Washington, DC?
Who boasts about getting people fired for their political opinions?
Who is the mouthpiece for the Pentagon, Deep State and Wall Street?
Who has censored the internet to suppress their political opposition?
Who wants to violently invade foreign countries and topple their governments?
Who weaponized the “intelligence community” against their political opposition?
Who has imposed a totalitarian level of conformity across all American institutions?
Who are the totalitarians who are absolutely obsessed with controlling what ordinary people are allowed to think and say in public and who punish them for saying the wrong words?
The Jewish establishment cries out in pain as it strikes you.
WTF have we done that is “fascism” that compares to any of this? Ridiculing “journalists” like Brian Stelter? Did shitposters say offensive things and post funny memes in the 2016 election?
Don’t get me wrong. I’m not saying that David Frum is a “fascist.” Instead, I am saying that woke progressivism is clearly as illiberal and authoritarian and totalitarian as “fascism.” It has already done most of the things in this country to us which supposedly make “fascism” so awful. David Frum is also a warmonger and a champion of militarism and imperialism and censorship.
No one has ever lost their lives because anything I have ever done. How many people in Iraq died because of a beady-eyed piece of shit like David Frum? How many lives did he ruin?
