NY Mag: Everyone In San Francisco Is Talking About Chesa Boudin

It is a glorious new progressive era.

In Philadelphia, the face of this new era is the George Soros-backed district attorney Larry Krasner who is the “progressive prosecutor” whose policies has led Philadelphia to the highest murder rate in the country. Krasner defeated his Democratic primary opponent in May.

In San Francisco, the face of this new era is district attorney Chesa Boudin, a “progressive prosecutor” whose parents were in the Weather Underground and went to prison for armed robbery who has presided over the decriminalization of organized looting in San Francisco which has the highest rate of property crime in the country. Boudin is more interested in prosecuting cops than in holding criminals in jail. He was the first “progressive prosecutor” in the country to end the practice of cash bail which he touts on his website as the “most progressive bail policy in the nation” and a model for other cities.

San Francisco and Philadelphia are both struggling with a sharp rise in police retirements and a decline in police recruits. It is the same same story in nearly every big city in the country. The police force is way down. Crime is way up. “Progressive prosecutors” have stopped enforcing civility laws and drug laws. Tent cities of homeless people or Bidenvilles are sprouting up even in places like Venice Beach and Hollywood. Criminals are experiencing a renaissance unseen since the 1990s.

New York Magazine:

“When Chesa Boudin was sworn in as district attorney of San Francisco on January 8, 2020, he seemed perfectly cast for the moment. Since 2016, a new class of progressive prosecutors had been claiming victories in liberal cities from Chicago to St. Louis, pledging to undo decades of tough-on-crime policies. In the process, they sought to change the public’s traditional perception of their role: the DA as anti-crime crusader or, in the words of Larry Krasner, the progressive district attorney of Philadelphia, “Dirty Harry in a suit.” In San Francisco, Boudin repudiated this image and then some. A 39-year-old public defender, he was a son of the old-school American radical left, a Rhodes Scholar with a sensational backstory that involved Marxist-revolutionary parents incarcerated for murder. He campaigned on promises to fight mass incarceration, decriminalize poverty, and hold cops accountable. Though Boudin had experienced great privilege, he had also suffered and seen human suffering, and his endorsements came from not just local political players but national public intellectuals like Angela Davis, Bernie Sanders, and Ibram X. Kendi. He embodied the surging progressive will to uproot systemic racism from courts, jails, and police departments nationwide as well as any white American male possibly could. …

Boudin typically begins with his parents, who joined the militant organization known as the Weather Underground in the 1960s to fight against American apartheid and the war in Vietnam. In 1981, when Boudin was 14 months old, they left him with a babysitter to serve as unarmed getaway drivers while members of another revolutionary group robbed a Brink’s armored car in Nanuet, New York. Remembered as one of the watershed excesses of countercultural radicalism, the heist left two police officers and a guard dead. Neither of Boudin’s parents fired a shot. His mother pleaded guilty, his father did not, but both were convicted of murder and sent to prison. Boudin was adopted by two other members of the Weather Underground, the education reformer Bill Ayers and the clinical-law professor Bernardine Dohrn. He spent his childhood in a world of radical-left ideological purity, shuttled between the comfortable life of his adoptive family and the prisons where he visited his biological parents. …

Burglary and car theft did spike in 2020, but larceny, a broader category of theft that includes shoplifting, has plummeted.  …

The ubiquity of sidewalk tent camps, intravenous-drug use, and unhoused people suffering mental illness in San Francisco has long fueled a general feeling of lawlessness. …

When Boudin returned, he told me that he pretty much always surfs early in the morning. He mentioned the pleasure of watching the sun come up over the city on days without so much fog. Unprompted, Boudin asked if I’d heard about a recent assault — a 94-year-old woman stabbed multiple times. Police were apparently saying they had arrested the guy weeks earlier but that Boudin’s office failed to jail him at the time.

“The funny thing is,” Boudin said, “we asked a judge to hold him, and the judge turned us down.” Just then, another surfer appeared alongside Boudin and said he’d seen one of the anti-recall mailers. He complimented Boudin on the quality of the brochure and said, “Good luck with all that!”

Boudin laughed and said, “Do you know there are 67 recall efforts in California right now? That’s an all-time record.” He shook his head and took off, paddling into the next wave.”

Get this …

Shoplifting is said to be DOWN in San Francisco under Chesa Boudin. Maybe that is because no one bothers to arrest the people who are doing it much less punish them anymore?

At some point, you have to ask yourself who would elect someone like Chesa Boudin in San Francisco or Larry Krasner in Philadelphia or Kim Gardner in St. Louis or Mike Schmidt in Portland or Pete Holmes in Seattle? It is the DILEs or Bobos who live in these big cities and the concentrated filth and lawlessness that you see there reflects their bohemian values. The same people who refuse to enforce basic civility laws in the Bay Area where they live have no problem censoring the internet.

How should I put this? These people are extremely libertarian and permissive when it comes to things that ACTUALLY matter to maintaining a civilization like family structure, sexual morality or violent crime. They are extremely authoritarian, however, when it comes to things that DON’T matter like thought policing, conformity on their various -isms and -phobias, censoring and punishing people for harmless words and attitudes or turning the world upside down over a virus which has an over 99% survival rate.

Their project can be summed up as turning the world upside down in the name of “social justice.” The demonization of the police and the glorification of criminals is just one example of this.

  1. I don’t see what’s not to like? Philadelphia and San Francisco were still a nice places even in the late 90’s. The rapid decline into zombie apocoplyse has to be waking normies up. I bet we start seeing cannibalism soon. Atlanta too.

  2. Rampant violence is NOT caused by “not enough guns” (inadequate police and prison industry) but by the nature of the system itself. Hiring even more guns (police and prison industry) and letting them be as violent as necessary to stop the violence is NOT the correct solution for systemic violence caused by systemic (capitalist) inequality.

Community-based, locally-elected police are needed, but peace officers can only exist in a truly communal economic system, which is very difficult or impossible to establish in such a thoroughly ethnically-mixed NON-nation as the U.S.

Don’t worry, there will be a severe crackdown on lawlessness, coming soon. Meanwhile, and always, the elites themselves, the greatest criminals, are in no danger at all. Don’t worry, if you are pleased with the system, because the system will take care of itself.

    • Rampant violence is inevitable when you permit people genetically predisposed to violence to run amok. And that includes all of these Leftist psychopaths, be they elitists or run of the mill morons.

  3. “San Francisco and Philadelphia are both struggling…..”

Yes, Yoda, enlighten me to the nirvana of Detroit.

  4. So exactly where does he surf each morning?

Instead of just Libs recognizing him and patting him on the back, maybe other will recognize him and…

    Well, sharks got to eat.

  5. @ chess boudin , just the newest poster clown, in this marxist circus, known as California politics, their downward spiral, will sadly continue, till either confederate authorities, take possession or china will, after Babylon falls, I see no other future for this once, great example of western civilization and like it’s occidental cousin south africa, it’s too beautiful, too rich in resources, too be left to the he heathens, we Adamites should have it, but if our will is found lacking, I am certain the “han” Chinese have the will, to handle California and what currently infest it, what a shame, for our people to lose this.

  6. The US in general is going down the drain and the politicians are at fault for running the cities and states to the ground.

  7. The character SFPD Harry Callahan, better known as Dirty Harry, wore a suit on duty.

“…his endorsements came from not just local political players but national public intellectuals like Angela Davis, Bernie Sanders, and Ibram X. Kendi” If those people are public intellectuals then best just to raze the entire thing to the ground.

  8. Look at the choice opportunities that were given to that son of filthy commie kike terrorists: Rhodes scholarship, internship with a judge, a book deal, etc. How many White kids of the “proletariat” get any of that handed to them?

  9. What are nukes made for…

    Ezekiel 6 (KJV)
6 In all your dwellingplaces the cities shall be laid waste, and the high places shall be desolate; that your altars may be laid waste and made desolate, and your idols may be broken and cease, and your images may be cut down, and your works may be abolished.

    May God Save the South!
