In The Montgomery Advertiser, Rick Spyker slams the SPLC in its own city. He points out the hypocrisy of the SPLC in picking and choosing which tragedies to exploit. For instance, the SPLC ignored the UA-Huntsville massacre in Alabama while it desperately attempted to link Joseph Stack, the perpetrator of the terrorist attack on the IRS building in Austin, to the far right.
The subtitle of the SPLC’s Hatewatch blog is “Keeping an Eye on the Radical Right.” The far left gets a free pass from Morris Dees and Mark Potok. Leftists can murder others and attempt to deny the constitutional rights of American citizens. The SPLC doesn’t care about crimes which don’t fit their narrative of evil racist White men attempting to oppress non-White minorities. In saner times, a partisan organization like the SPLC would lack mainstream credibility, but those days are over in the United States.
