  1. Release date is June 28, according to IMDB. Hunter, I take it can we expect a review on here after you see it?

  2. @ Hunter

Here’s a wonderful film about Confederate cavalry scout, and Southern freedom fighter Manse Jolly: http://video.scetv.org/video/2099451483/

The Jolly family were originally from Pennsylvania and had moved to South Carolina after the American Revolution.

The video is a little slow to load, but, plays well.

  3. I’m amazed that a movie can still get made that portrays 1860s northern Democrats in a positive light! And is the bad guy the same actor who played Shaw in Glory?

Every once in a while Hollywood throws real Americans a bone. Sweet Home Alabama, for instance, when Reece Witherspoon punches Candice Bergen in the face for disrespecting southerners.

  4. McClellan would have won the election in 1864 and ended the war if Atlanta hadn’t fallen to Sherman in the fall. It was over before that in Tennessee but the South was poorly led by mediocre but politically influential generals like Braxton Bragg.

Nevertheless the federal government is now a tyranny imposed by force upon the people, no longer a voluntary Union of like minded free men.

  5. I don’t know how the movie will play through – but there are PLENTY of Copperheads, here, still. I’m proud to be one. There are more…….

  6. Isn’t Mr Maxwell jewish?

I don’t know about that, but he is a Yankee colonist who has invited himself to Virginia.

I’m not too excited about this movie, especially since the trailer uses the oft-repeated and idiotic line that the “war divided a nation”, which implies that Southrons are not a nation of ourselves.

As for “real Americans”: Southrons will never be truly independent until we abandon the American identity. The American identity is a huge obstacle to Southron radicalisation.

  8. Is James Edward’s Political Cesspool blog no longer taking comments?

I don’t see a comments section on any of his recent posts…..

As to ‘new’ films, the Anthony Hopkins version of Hitchcock was well done. (We only go to the Box of a carmine color, when we want to see a film….)

  9. Awww…Bless Reese. She didn’t sound obnoxious about the “Do you know who I am” thing. She sounded mischevious. I think Toth is a Hebe. Can’t confirm. She finally caved. She dumped Jake GyllenJew cause he’s a Hebe, though.

  10. The politics of WW I were thuggish as well, my glorious WASP ancestors again on the wrong side of history, but at least they got the 1924 Immigration act thru it gave America a few more decades.

  11. I feel sorry for former Ohio Governor William Allen who recently had his statue removed from the US Capitol because of his support for the South during the Civil War: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Allen_(governor)

Governor Allen was the real deal.

I’m sort of skeptical of a lot of these copperhead stories & claims. The Presidential vote in the fall of 1860 is the best indicator of Southern support in the North—Breckenridge being the Southern candidate: http://geoelections.free.fr/USA/elec_comtes/1860.htm

  13. “I am still waiting for a damnyankee comment.”

Most of the comments so far are from damnyankees. As they used to say:

To foreigners, a Yankee is an American.
To Americans, a Yankee is a Northerner.
To Northerners, a Yankee is an Easterner.
To Easterners, a Yankee is a New Englander.
To New Englanders, a Yankee is a Vermonter.
And in Vermont, a Yankee is somebody who eats pie for breakfast.

Of course this was before Taylor Swift became a “Country and Western” Super star. It’s hard to tell the sheep from the goats any more.

  14. Governor Allen was the real deal.

Governor Allen was born in North Carolina, although I am uncertain what his ancestry was. (For the unaware, the mere act of being born in Dixie does not make someone a Southron.)

  15. “the mere act of being born in Dixie does not make someone a Southron”

And what does pray tell? (Remember that once you get to six generations the odds are that you have ZERO genes in common with those ancestors!)

One or two ancestors who are founding stock is very weak tea. On has theoretically 512 distinct grandparents from that cohort (although very few genes) , not taking into account cousin (or closer) marriage. No one can name even a fraction of them. Most folks “research” is concentrated on father to son lineages and maybe the mothers paternal lineage but that’s about it.

  16. And what does pray tell?

What makes someone English? Being born in England or being of English stock? The same simple standards apply for Southron nationality.

  17. “What makes someone English? Being born in England or being of English stock? The same simple standards apply for Southron nationality.”

I could go on about genetic haplotypes but I am perfectly willing to go with paraphrasing the judge by saying I’d know a Southron if I saw him.

  18. @Earl Butz:

Copperheads were definitely in the minority in the North. I don’t think there would have been a war if copperheads were in the majority. Nonetheless, it’s not like Lincoln won by a landslide in 1860. Douglass had his votes siphoned off by Breckenridge and John Bell. If Douglass wins, there’s no Lincoln. If there’s no Lincoln, I doubt there’s any war. Thoughts?

    @Rudel:

Well said about Yankees. As a general point to everyone on here, the North is divided culturally between the Northeast, Midwest, and the scarlet red Plains States. The Midwest in turn is divided between the deep blue Upper Midwest and reliably conservative Lower Midwest. In Michigan, Ohio, and Pennsylvania, those states go blue because the Reagan Democrats either stay home or vote Democrat. I don’t think most of those Reagan Democrats are ethnomasochist anti-racists.

This is not to say that the North is no different from the South, because obviously the cultural differences are huge. But I don’t think the North is a monolithic anti-white la la land either. Vermont is. Massachusetts is. Northern Minnesota is. But not the North as a whole.

  19. Everybody in the movie has dark hair and dark eyes? How Hollywood. Looks so, so wrong to somebody who grew up in the USA before the immigration act of 1965. Where are we? Greece? Italy? Oh, rural New York.
