I bought this book on sale last month when I was in St. Louis.
It is about the forgotten history of the Civil Rights Movement in the Northern states. I’ve only read the first two chapters.
So far, I haven’t seen anything that contradicts my view of the origins of the Civil Rights Movement.
The existence of the Union is the only reason why the “Civil Rights Movement” triumphed in the South. There was a dramatic shift in White Northern racial attitudes during the Second World War.
It was the Second World War that provided fringe leftists in the Northern states with their historic opportunity to push their “civil rights” ideas into the mainstream:

Prior to the Second World War, White Northerners didn’t want to hear much about the blacks and their social problems.
The war against Hitler’s Germany reawakened the old crusading spirit of Radicalism in the North that had been unleashed on the Confederacy. White Northerners became more abstract and ideological and the ‘contradictions’ between their ‘American Creed’ and the circumstances of blacks emerged as a social problem.
Note: Much of the North was segregated in custom until the aftermath of the Second World War.
There were civil rights laws in every Northern state that banned segregation, but in practice these laws were often ignored. The Second World War forced the North to choose between its ideals and customs.

Very well put the evil the Anglo Saxons inflicted on continental Europe was thrown back in their faces. The British lost their empire the South got the Civil Rights movement and the Northerner Yankees had the pleasure of being well paid toilet cleaners to the Jews in the country they used to run.

You raise a straw man argument. I do not have any ‘heritage not hate’ bumper stickers and have many times voiced my opposition to that slogan.
You also use a false dilemma argument. Our choices are not confined to Bill Buckley and Golden Dawn/Jobbik. Those parties might be the future in Greece and Hungary. Just because an approach works in one place doesn’t mean it will necessarily work in another. I know this is likely too much logic for you given the juvenile nature of your attack against me. Hopefully others will see though.
Finally, if the problem were just someone bringing up the Jews once then it would be no problem at all. The problem is harping on them, constantly insulting them and using strange sounding-language (see Fr. John’s post) when denouncing them. And pointing out that this doesn’t work is not the same as rising to their defense, Lew. I’m interested in building up a large, powerful movement to advance the interests of my people – not in sitting around writing attacks against the Jews online every day.

This IS the enemy’s caricature of us.
Keeping on message and connecting with your constituency is all well and good. People who go off-message in a particular context–hoisting a 9/11 truth sign in a Southern Nationalist demonstration, for instance–are a problem, even if they are 100% right about their hobby horse.
But the Jewish question is much bigger than that. There are appropriate forums for discussing it. After all, you can’t know who your friends are if you don’t know who your enemies are. And if Jews are the single biggest impediment to whites regaining control of our destiny and solving our problems, then we can’t ignore that fact, and we can’t allow Jews in our organizations. Since we know that Jews seek to infiltrate and control their opposition, and a Jewish infiltrator will sound exactly like a sincere Jewish sympathizer. If we’re right and you don’t deal with the Jewish question from the start, then all your efforts will be in vain.

Abolition was a crazy, destructive idea.
We have already seen how abolition became the 13th Amendment. Black citizenship was another destructive idea. It became the 14th Amendment. Black voting rights became the 15th Amendment.
“Civil rights” wasn’t a Jewish idea. Yankees started pushing for “civil rights” immediately after the abolition of slavery. They made blacks into US citizens and “civil rights” became an issue when the scope of their rights was contested in the defeated Confederate states.
President Andrew Johnson was impeached and the Southern states were dissolved and put under Military Reconstruction in order to protect black voting rights and “civil rights.”

Starting with Massachusetts in May 1865, the Northern states passed comprehensive civil rights laws that banned segregation and required integration. The Northern states also repealed their own antebellum black codes which had prohibited blacks from settling in states like Illinois and Indiana.

Let’s review:
1.) 19th century egalitarians succeeded in destroying slavery.
2.) 19th century egalitarians succeeded in making blacks into US citizens.
3.) 19th century egalitarians succeeded in rewriting the Constitution to protect black voting rights.
4.) 19th century egalitarians succeeded in repealing all the black codes that had enforced segregation in the North and which had prohibited or fined blacks who settled in a handful of Northern states like Illinois and Oregon.
5.) 19th century egalitarians succeeded in suppressing the Klan.
6.) 19th century egalitarians succeeded in repealing all the anti-miscegenation laws in the North (with the exception of Indiana).
7.) 19th century egalitarians succeeded in banning segregation in education and public accommodations in most Northern states.
8.) 19th century egalitarians succeeded in subordinating the states to the federal government with the 14th Amendment.
In other words, the 19th century egalitarians succeeded in laying the whole foundation of the present system in which blacks are citizens and protected by federal and state “civil rights” laws.
In the early 20th century, there was a huge falling off in enforcement of the existing civil rights laws in the North as the attention of Northerners shifted away from civil rights, but all it took in the end was 1.) a war to change public opinion and 2.) federal lawsuits to successfully challenge segregation.

A lot of places they have “no spitting on the sidewalk” ordinances, and “no spitting in the elevator ordinances”, that doesn’t stop people from spitting. Unless the ordinances are enforced.
The Northern big city politicians, and big Northern corporate money, particularly the railroad corporations in the 19th century, wanted to steal the wealth of the South, and bring the South under Northern political control. Slavery, civil rights, etc. were only excuses for the theft of the wealth of the South.
The Catholics first, then the Jews were added over time to the Northern bag of evil tricks. The Catholics, and the Jews surely haven’t made anything any better. Nor will adding 40 million more Mexican Catholics, or millions more of the Jews’ Moslem cousins to it.
PP, you did a good job of explaining things, but I’m afraid your words of wisdom are wasted on folks like Lew and PC. They’re, along with a couple of others, are riding a hobby horse that only knows one path. That path is called “the Jews are the reason everything that’s wrong in our world.” Yeah, like all the other races (including ours) and ethnic groups haven’t contributed to the mess we got today. The Jews don’t have enough numbers or power to mess things up this badly. Look at the Middle East. Are the Muslim countries messed up because the Jews, or is it because the Muzzies are doing a bang up job on themselves with their ancient antiquated laws, customs, and attitudes? Considering the Jews are under watch in those countries, I highly doubt it. And this screaming “Jooos, Jooos, Jooos”, all the time, how does that build up pride and unity in our own group? It’s far more important to educate our people about our ancestors did or didn’t do, than it is to constantly run down another group of people. The Jews and the Muslims constantly run down others outsiders, and look what it has got them over the last 1500-2000 years. The Jews, even though they have a thin sliver of land in the Middle East, are scattered and hated by the rest of the world for their contempt of the rest of humanity. The Muslims, even though they sit on billions of galleons of oil, are the most backward people (besides the Blacks) in the world. Their Islamic culture prevents them from thinking new thoughts that might advance their civilization. Any material advances they might have made comes strictly from contact with the West, which they hate with a passion, cause we’re the infidels. And if anything goes wrong in their sandpits, is ours or the Jooos fault, not their own. So, if we’re going to advance ourselves, we do have to believe in our cause, but we have to be careful about messing it up by self destructing. And while we must be wise about our enemies, we must remember internal rot will destroy us if we’re not careful. Our enemies can bring us down only if we give into any weaknesses that we have.

More than any other factor, it was the participation of Northern Jews in the Civil Rights movement that tapped that residue. These were the people, it is recalled, who were the earliest supporters of the fledgling National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. In 1914, Professor Emeritus Joel Spingarn of Columbia University became chairman of the NAACP and recruited for its board such Jewish leaders as Jacob Schiff, Jacob Billikopf, and Rabbi Stephen Wise.
Jews also were the earliest supporters of the Urban League, founded in New York in 1911 to help newly arrived black migrants from the rural South. The International Ladies Garment Workers Union and the Amalgamated Clothing Workers took the lead in organizing “our black brothers” for union membership (over the opposition of the American Federation of Labor national board). And, in the climactic civil rights drives of the 1950s and 1960s, Jewish participation was all but overwhelming.
In the landmark 1954 Brown v. Board of Education ruling itself, the Supreme Court accepted the research of the black sociologist Kenneth Clark that segregation placed the stamp of inferiority on black children. Clark’s study had been commissioned by the American Jewish Committee, and it appeared in the amicus curiae brief the Committee submitted to the court. The Anti-Defamation League and the American Jewish Congress also submitted amicus curiae briefs in behalf of the cause. Once the judgment was issued, these Jewish defense organizations continued to file legal briefs in civil rights cases dealing with housing, employment, education, and public accommodation. Many local and state desegregation regulations actually were drafted in the offices of the Jewish agencies.
Jewish participation in the Civil Rights movement far transcended institutional associations. One black leader in Mississippi estimated that, in the 1960s, the critical decade of the voting-registration drives, “as many as 90 percent of the civil rights lawyers in Mississippi were Jewish.” Large numbers of them were recent graduates of Ivy League law schools. They worked around the clock analyzing welfare standards, the bail system, arrest procedures, justice-of-the-peace rulings. Racing from one Southern town to another, they obtained parade permits and issued complaints on jail beatings and intimidation.
Jews similarly made up at least 30 percent of the white volunteers who rode freedom buses to the South, registered blacks, and picketed segregated establishments. Among them were several dozen Reform rabbis who marched among the demonstrators in Selma and Birmingham. A number were arrested. Others were taken into custody for attempting to desegregate a swimming pool in St. Augustine, Florida. One of the demonstrating rabbis, Arthur Lelyveld, was severely beaten in Hattiesburg, Mississippi. A young physician, Edward Sachar, volunteering his medical services to the freedom marchers, nearly lost his life as his automobile was forced off a Mississippi back road by local rednecks.
Two young New Yorkers, Michael Schwerner and Andrew Goodman, served in 1964 as voting-registration volunteers in Meridian, Mississippi. One of their coworkers was a young black Mississippian, James Cheney. Together they were waylaid and murdered by Klansmen, their bodies dumped in a secret grave. As much as any single factor, it was the nationwide attention given the discovery of their corpses that accelerated passage of the Voting Rights Act of 1965. The Jews had long since achieved their own political and economic breakthrough. Rarely had any community gone to such lengths to share its painfully achieved status with others.

I think that it’s clear that the post-WWII civil rights movement was basically a partnership between Southern blacks and Northern Jews. Yes there were some Northern whites involved along with some Southern race-traitors, but it was primarily a Negro-Semitic alliance against the white man. That’s how the historical record reads to me anyway.
If you narrow your focus to “Jews in the Civil Rights Movement,” then it looks like Jews were behind the Civil Rights Movement. However, if you study the Civil Rights Movement in general, it looks quite different.

Here’s Kevin MacDonald taking Hunter to task for obfuscating the crucial role of Jews in the civil rights movement:
Occidental Dissent has an article on Solomon Blatt, a powerful Jewish politician in South Carolina who was a staunch proponent of segregation during the 1950s and 1960s (“The Strange Career of Solomon Blatt“). Interesting article, but it ends thus:
“South Carolina’s desegregation shows that the existence of the Union, not Jewish influence, was the primary cause of the South’s racial and cultural decline.”
This does not follow. One surely can’t argue that because one Jewish politician in one state opposed desegregation that Jews did not have a decisive influence on the Civil Rights movement in general. South Carolina by itself could not withstand the onslaught against desegregation given that the laws against segregation were national in application…
Because attitudes opposed to segregation are now a consensus among Americans, the decisive role of Jews in the Civil Rights movement is now a point of pride among Jewish organizations (see Stuart Svonkin (1997). Jews Against Prejudice: American Jews and the Fight for Civil Liberties. New York: Columbia University Press). Civil Rights remains a focus of Jewish activist groups like the ADL.
In any case, suffice it to say that the attitudes of one Southern Jewish politician do not change the big picture of the role of Jews and the organized Jewish community in the Civil Rights movement.

From the beginning of the Civil Rights Movement, Blacks and Jews marched arm-in-arm. In 1909, W.E.B. Dubois, Julius Rosenthal, Lillian Wald, Rabbi Emil G. Hirsch, Stephen Wise and Henry Malkewitz formed the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People (NAACP). One year later other prominent Jewish and Black leaders created the Urban League. Julius Rosenwald and Booker T. Washington worked together in 1912 to improve the educational system for Blacks in the South.
Thus, in the 1930s and ’40s when Jewish refugee professors arrived at Southern Black Colleges, there was a history of overt empathy between Blacks and Jews, and the possibility of truly effective collaboration. Professor Ernst Borinski organized dinners at which Blacks and Whites would have to sit next to each other – a simple yet revolutionary act. Black students empathized with the cruelty these scholars had endured in Europe and trusted them more than other Whites. In fact, often Black students – as well as members of the Southern White community – saw these refugees as “some kind of colored folk.”
The unique relationship that developed between these teachers and their students was in some ways a microcosm of what was beginning to happen in other parts of the United States. The American Jewish Committee, the American Jewish Congress, and the Anti-Defamation League were central to the campaign against racial prejudice. Jews made substantial financial contributions to many civil rights organizations, including the NAACP, the Urban League, the Congress of Racial Equality, and the Student Non-Violent Coordinating Committee. About 50 percent of the civil rights attorneys in the South during the 1960s were Jews, as were over 50 percent of the Whites who went to Mississippi in 1964 to challenge Jim Crow Laws.

Because Northerners voted 8-to-2 for the Civil Rights Act of 1964 in Congress over the 9-to-1 Southern opposition, we got integration in the South.

Their descendants have grown steadily worse as they have pushed ‘liberty’ and ‘equality’ (i.e., Americanism) to ever greater extremes.
I established above that Yankees created “civil rights” in the aftermath of their great crusade for abolition. They spent the rest of the 19th century attempting, unsuccessfully, to impose “civil rights” on the United States as a whole, but succeeded in getting it done in the Northern states.
The Northern states were already integrated when Jews began to arrive in large numbers from Southern and Eastern Europe in the 1890s and 1900s. From roughly 1900 to 1940, enforcement of the existing civil rights laws declined as Northern racial attitudes hardened.
The Reconstruction Amendments and the Northern civil rights laws were never repealed though. The damage was already done. All it took was a shift in public opinion caused by WW2 and federal lawsuits to get the ball moving again.

Yes, but you yourself crunched the numbers one time and found there were only (quoting from memory) about 200,000 Jews in the entire South at the time, compared to 1.5 million just in the NYC metro area and millions more in the rest of the country. Like I said, the civil rights movement was primarily an alliance of Southern blacks and Northern Jews.

Jewish organizations take great pride in the history of the civil rights movement for good reason: they masterminded it, they financed it, they propagandized it, they manned the barricades, and in the end, it was their victory.

If it were not for the existence of the Union, the “Civil Rights Movement” would have never triumphed in the South.
I’ve already shown how this isn’t true:
1.) The Reconstruction Amendments made blacks into US citizens. They permanently altered the balance of power between the states and the federal government. They also constitutionally enshrined black voting rights.
2.) Jews had nothing to do with the initial flurry of “civil rights” laws which were aimed at suppressing the Klan and enforcing social, civil, and political equality in the South.
3.) The Northern states repealed their anti-miscegenation laws and integrated between 1865 and 1890. Jews were arriving on American shores in large numbers in the 1890s and 1900s. The ADL was founded in 1913. The American Jewish Congress was founded in 1918. The American Jewish Committee was founded in 1906.

BTW, I didn’t buy the book with Southern Nationalism in mind. It just looked like an interesting book which I hadn’t heard of before. I’ve tried to research the rise and fall of the North’s racial system several times here in the past, but have always gotten sidetracked.
