The great British actor Christopher Lee has died at the age of 93. He was one of my favorite actors of all time and epitomized the well educated, well mannered British actor of the mid-to-late 20th century. Christopher Lee also had good political views, as much as could be hoped for in an actor trying to get ahead in Hollywood, which he did, including his last major role of Sauraman the White wizard turned traitor in the Lord of the Rings movies.
My favorite Christopher Lee movie was the original British film “the Wickerman.”Christopher Lee played the leading role of Lord Summerisle, who was the leader of a bizarre private Scottish island that had reverted to Celtic paganism – “Give me that old time religion.”
RIP Christopher Lee or, …. maybe not. Maybe his soul has been reincarnated and is with us again.
I grew up on the old Hammer films. This were in the days when I would set up late on a Saturday night for the late, late show which always featured a Hammer. film. Nobody played a better Dracula than Lee! Of course, after that the TV signed off and was not on till the next day. He was an indispensable part of my childhood and I buy ever Hammer film he was in I can find on DVD! Now if they would just do a decent Vampirella movie!
Thanks for sharing that positive memory with us Feric.
It is the small simple things we all ust do, promote good movies, good music of our past present and future.
For me, too, Christopher Lee was Dracula.
