Trumpian Civic Nationalism Is Intensely Polarizing

Peggy Noonan writes in The Wall Street Journal:

“The Trump Wars of the past 18 months do not now go away. Now it becomes the Trump Civil War, every day, with Democrats trying to get rid of him and half the country pushing back. To reduce it to the essentials: As long as Mr. Trump’s party holds the House, it will be a standoff. If the Democrats take the House, they will move to oust him.

Because we are divided. We are two nations, maybe more. …”

This is the reality that President Trump will be facing.

We can have happy talk about finding a new solidarity in civic nationalism, but our common culture has already been so disintegrated by liberalism that force is the only thing really holding this country together. We saw that on display in Washington, DC where we had to spend hours walking around the barricades. Because of the confluence of multiculturalism, immigration and Islamic terrorism, the TSA had to cage us in like animals in our own Capitol to protect us from foreign and domestic enemies.

It is striking how the Left no longer accepts the norms of civic nationalism: free and fair elections, peaceful transfer of power, free speech, tolerance of dissenting views, the taboo on political violence, equality before the law, the rule of law and order, the value of citizenship, etc. In the name of social justice, the Left ardently believes we ought to do away with all of these things and violently impose a new orthodoxy of -isms and -phobias on the country. The PC Left now has the witch hunting mindset and zeal of the inquisitor armed with the faggot and the stake. They see themselves as being on the sides of the saints and the martyrs while their opponents on the Right are an army of demons.

David French writes at National Review:

“The word of the day is “polarized.” The New York Times declared that Donald Trump “will take command of a country unsettled after one of the most polarizing periods in modern times.” ABC’s chief political analyst went even further, arguing that the level of division was so bad that our political culture was “much more akin to where we were in 1861.” Writing in the Washington Post, Philip Bump rightly noted that Trump “didn’t create the country’s divisions” before wondering: “Will he heal them?” The answer:

No, he will not. He couldn’t heal them if he tried. …

This polarization has been a long time coming; anyone with eyes could have predicted it. I’m 47 years old, at the age when my law-school peers have grown up to sit in the halls of corporate, academic, and governmental power. And what were those peers like? Twenty-five years ago, some of them were in Harvard Law School, literally shouting down conservatives, booing them and jeering them when they dared open their mouths. They had no regard for civility or debate. They only wanted to win. And Harvard wasn’t alone. A generation of liberal elites has grown up steeped in a culture that believes that millions of fellow Americans aren’t just wrong, but evil — racist, sexist, homophobic, and drawn to religious faith as a vehicle for their bigotry. …”

I completely agree.

If you think this is just a problem for the “fringe,” you aren’t paying close enough attention to what is going on. In the eyes of the rising generation of leftists, it has become heretical to publicly voice a different point of view on taboo subjects like race and sexuality. These people believe state power and vigilante violence should be used to silence “hate speech” and anyone who questions their orthodoxy should be driven from employment, socially ostracized and physically assaulted.

Political correctness is a confession. Civic nationalism is an obstacle to the spread of the progressive gospel. Progress is the elimination of heresy. This is a titanic struggle between the forces of good and evil. That’s where we are going with this and for “civic nationalism” to triumph and prove successful it would require these people to undergo a total ideological conversion.

Is that realistically going to happen? I don’t think so. We need to brace ourselves for what is coming.

  1. The difference is more subtle.
Before the last Obama term, there was at least on both sides a bias to discuss and educate. Gay marriage was slowly “winning” – I don’t know if it would have won or not, but that was short-circuited by “burn down Memories’ Pizza”, and the supreme court decision.

Somehow the discussion between Christendom and elitist socialism became – probably through hubris – a “socialism rules and wishes to crush you, destroy you, and everything you hold dear”.

It was they who declared war.

If a “gay” couple moved next door, I might not even notice, and barring some obnoxious expression (I’d meet their rainbow flag with the stars and bars), I have no reason to care. “If that’s what cranks your tractor”, just don’t bother me. Or as William Lind put it, “Don’t scare the horses”.

But the lefty instinct to hunt down and kill anyone who dissents from their PC party line is what killed them and why they will fail. They even purge their own, and now are setting up a victim pecking order, and their democratic potentials are all senile (Rush Limbaugh had a “Geriatric Park” parody which has become real).

Even the far-white, they don’t generally want to round up and put minorities into camps, but do want them not to do criminal activity or use welfare. And don’t want their culture attacked.

The lefty Lilliputians failed to tie down middle America, which has been growing – I pay attention but missed how marginalized (as in the margins of the map) the democrats have become.

But Providence has separated the sheep and goats. Not entirely but much along racial lines. It won’t be good or fun for the goats. The sheep might not even notice anything except they aren’t being penned up anymore.

  2. The polarization has been there for some time but Trump’s election brought it out into the open. If he takes the typical cuck policy of appeasing and placating his enemies he will fail.

      • The dog was merely allowed to sleep from about 1877 to 1948 or so, thinking Reconstruction had all been a bad dream. Then he woke up to lawsuits and an integrated Military and realized it wasnt a dream. How they managed to feed the entire Southland a giant dose of Unisom in 1965 I will never understand. It has taken a good 40-50 yrs to wake up.

Just like I will never understand how the Texas Business Association and the Oil Companies managed to get businesses and schools to slowly phase out or downplay Southern things to the point that Governor GW Bush could remove Confederate plaques and most barely even noticed. One of the Psyops to end all Psyops

  3. Trump has to promptly deal with certain figures in the GOP leadership and arrange special treatment. They didn’t help him and he doesn’t need them.

  4. “Because we are divided. We are two nations, maybe more. …”

    No sht Sherlock..

If I had told her decades ago that it would come this, she would have looked at me as silly.

Trump going to fix the shipwreck and sail again.

  5. Trump now, and when he falters, while nationalism.

C’mon folks, this isn’t hard. We’re making it harder than it needs to be.

  6. Traditional American culture and demographics have been so degraded now that this can only inevitably end in national dissolution or open fighting. There is very little support for the former, but the left is increasingly aching for violence. An unfortunate choice for them, since they are not nearly as well-armed, well-trained, or well-organized as their more conservative opponents.

I still hope for a deus ex machina and a peaceful resolution, but that hope looks very bleak.

Stay true, stay vigilant, stay prepared.

  7. We need to brace ourselves for what is coming.

Indeed. An AR-15, 10 magazines and a 1000rds of 5.56 is a good start. We are seeing the first cracks in the thin veneer of civilization.

      • Entry level ARs are already below $500. That’s the lowest since Obama took office. The market is glutted, I suspect they will dip a little lower and now that Trump is President, the Firearms manufacturers will start to relax and scale back production. I think we’ll see a $399 AR by Summer.

  8. The Spanish inquisition saved more jews from mob violence then it harmed, it went after the head of the snake. Not one woman in spain was burned at the stake for witchcraft because of that tribunal.
    “Characters of the inquisition”
    William Thomas Walsh. 1940
The author ends the book by saying powerful jews in America are the ones the inquisition would have burned at the stake.
Also, the burning ritual is almost exactly like the show survivor on TV, except, when the candle goes out and the tribe has spoken, the pervert gets fried, plus a lot more ceremony leading up to it.

  9. Instead of calling for violence against those who embrace the naivety of civic nationalism we should take the time and effort to listen and persuade them.

At least the alt-light are engaging in street battles with the anti-fa scum.

    • Civic Nationalism will fail and upon its corpse will WE rise. We need it as a small dose red pill so that we can slowly get the people hooked on our red pills then we drop the biggun on them

  10. OK so what do we do?

We have political offices, political domination at the state level in the South, Midwest outside of big cities.

What we do not yet have is “cultural power” – though we have delegitimized the Anti White media and much of academia.

We’re nibbling away in the Alternative media, have sort of Fox news. We have no movie studios.

    Here are some suggestions:

Make it formal – Southern states do not recognize law degrees from places like Harvard Law, Yale Law.

Insist on locals being given local news presenter jobs – Ok they will probably still be lying whores, but at least they will be scalawag local lying whores instead of carpet bagger Northeasterners of the tribe.

We had a patriotic $ billionaire run and win president of the United States. We need some more to buy, start profit generating media networks. Glenn Beck couldn’t do it. But Berlosconi in Italy did it.

    Where’s the next Ted Turner?

    • Ted Turner like Judas, went for the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$ and pissed on the Southern People. He had the money he could have done quite a bit with it, yet he refused to do so. No different than Woodrow Wilson who claimed to LOVE DIXIE yet the minute he was elected he began appointing Jews and moving us toward an unnecessary war in Europe. Yep he instituted Jim Crow in DC yet put a JEW on the Supreme Court? Talk about progress.

  11. RaHoWa is right upon us right now, in fact it has been waging now nonstop since 1954 just WHITEY hasnt realized it yet.
