Pulled Pork Recipe

Sometimes you have to grab a quick bite to eat on the go.

How do you maintain a low-carb or Keto diet when you are hungry, traveling and don’t have the time to cook a meal in the evenings? If you are a Southerner, the answer is BBQ.

Resist the temptation to hit up the McDonald’s or Wendy’s drive thru window. Look for your local BBQ joint instead. You can almost always order a 1/2 pound or a pound of pulled pork. If you are lucky enough to live in Texas, you can feast on a delicious 1/2 pound of Texas brisket. You can also usually order 1/2 or a full BBQ rotisserie chicken. Make sure you avoid any sugar based BBQ sauce though.

I didn’t have the time to cook this evening and bought a pound of pulled pork as carry out from a local restaurant. If you live in a metro area, you can usually have Uber Eats or Door Dash deliver it to your door. Alternatively, you can just have the agency to make the pulled pork yourself in bulk.

No excuses!

Don’t be this guy!

  1. I honestly don’t even like the word brisket has too many connections to jewish cuisine. Pulled pork sandwiches are alright but I prefer philly cheesesteaks sandwiches even more.. damn now i’m craving a philly cheesesteak

      • Definitely a favorite for me there is no other sandwich out there that I like more then philly cheesesteaks. You should it include a recipe for foodporn july

What cheese do you use? I usually just use mozzarella but provolone is ideal,it just cost a bit more

  2. LoL this is us, folks.

Take a look at the map and overlay that map of the South and Appalachia with the distracting pink circle thats circulating here on teh blog. Look also at the ranking of states by activity.

We’re all too busy bitching about the inequity of it all haha. Keyboard warriors.

Hell, I struggle with my weight, drink too much, have a hard time feeling motivated to get out and move.

    We can do better.

  3. In Texas, you can get pork, beef and chicken at BBQ pits. There’s a famous pit, that I forget the name of, that asks you if you want meat smoked with Mesquite, Hickory, Post Oak, or Pecan, when you order.

I like to get the triple meat combo at Dickie’s BBQ. I get pulled pork, brisket, smoked sausage and three vegetables. Sometimes, I get ham instead of pulled pork, or pork ribs. I always get fried, stuffed Jalapéños. The sauce comes in a separate bowl and I also like to sweeten up the meat with Tabasco sauce. I usually get peach cobbler and ice cream, or pecan pie for dessert, too.

Last night, the neighbour lady brought over some pork and sweet corn she’d done up on the smoker. She uses the pecan wood that grows in abundance on her land. It was a good supper.

Everybody around here usually has both a smoker and a grill. But they probably smoke more brisket, pork, and beef and pork ribs, than they grill hamburgers and hotdogs.

  4. I love pulled pork. I will never, EVER, give up meat. I’m going to try the slow cooker method. It’s all I have the time for.

  5. Tik Tok is going places. If it doesn’t lose weight soon, to the graveyard a lot faster than it normally would. But, then again, there is nothing normal about Tik Tok.

Can anyone here confirm what it is?
