If even I knew that COVID-19 wasn’t the regular flu in late January, what kind of intelligence was the president and Congress receiving? Why didn’t they act sooner?
“The Trump administration received its first formal notification of the outbreak of the coronavirus in China on Jan. 3. Within days, U.S. spy agencies were signaling the seriousness of the threat to Trump by including a warning about the coronavirus — the first of many — in the President’s Daily Brief.
And yet, it took 70 days from that initial notification for Trump to treat the coronavirus not as a distant threat or harmless flu strain well under control, but as a lethal force that had outflanked America’s defenses and was poised to kill tens of thousands of citizens. That more-than-two-month stretch now stands as critical time that was squandered.Trump’s baseless assertions in those weeks, including his claim that it would all just “miraculously” go away, sowed significant public confusion and contradicted the urgent messages of public health experts. …
On Jan. 21, a Seattle man who had recently traveled to Wuhan tested positive for the coronavirus, becoming the first known infection on U.S. soil. Then, two days later, Chinese authorities took the drastic step of shutting down Wuhan, turning the teeming metropolis into a ghost city of empty highways and shuttered skyscrapers, with millions of people marooned in their homes.“That was like, whoa!,” said a senior U.S. official involved in White House meetings on the crisis. “That was when the Richter scale hit 8.” …
Pottinger was by then pushing for another travel ban, this time restricting the flow of travelers from Italy and other nations in the European Union that were rapidly emerging as major new nodes of the outbreak. Pottinger’s proposal was endorsed by key health-care officials, including Fauci, who argued that it was critical to close off any path the virus might take into the country.
This time, the plan met with resistance from Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin and others who worried about the impact on the U.S. economy. It was an early sign of tension in an area that would split the administration, pitting those who prioritized public health against those determined to avoid any disruption in an election year to the run of expansion and employment growth. …
For weeks, he had barely uttered a word about the crisis that didn’t downplay its severity or propagate demonstrably false information. He dismissed the warnings of intelligence officials and top public health officials in his administration. At times, he voiced far more authentic concern about the trajectory of the stock market than the spread of the virus in the United States, railing at the chairman of the Federal Reserve and others with an intensity that he never seemed to exhibit about the possible human toll of the outbreak …”
Even if China initially downplayed the virus, I find it impossible to believe the CIA and CDC didn’t how bad the outbreak really was in January.
“U.S. intelligence agencies were issuing ominous, classified warnings in January and February about the global danger posed by the coronavirus while President Trump and lawmakers played down the threat and failed to take action that might have slowed the spread of the pathogen, according to U.S. officials familiar with spy agency reporting. …
Intelligence agencies “have been warning on this since January,” said a U.S. official who had access to intelligence reporting that was disseminated to members of Congress and their staffs as well as to officials in the Trump administration, and who, along with others, spoke on the condition of anonymity to describe sensitive information.
“Donald Trump may not have been expecting this, but a lot of other people in the government were — they just couldn’t get him to do anything about it,” this official said. “The system was blinking red.” …
The warnings from U.S. intelligence agencies increased in volume toward the end of January and into early February, said officials familiar with the reports. By then, a majority of the intelligence reporting included in daily briefing papers and digests from the Office of the Director of National Intelligence and the CIA was about covid-19, said officials who have read the reports. …”
What happened?
How did Peak Prosperity and TruNews know how bad the virus was in January? Why did the mainstream media and the political establishment get it so wrong? What was in their intelligence briefings?
Donald Trump received critical intelligence from his donors and conservative elites to “ride it out” and treat it as “just the flu.” Treasury Secretary Steve Mnuchin didn’t want to shut down travel from Europe because it would have spooked the markets. Nothing was done to respond to the virus in January and February when small steps could have been taken to track and counter it because of the focus on the markets. It was treated as a political and economic problem until it was too late.
Note: The Washington Post also said the flu was the real threat.
Not only is Trump to blame, but so is the deep state/CDC for being so ridiculously unprepared, especially in regard to the strategic national stockpile. This whole fiasco goes back decades.
Also, thoughts on this?

I wouldn’t even start with the national stockpile but with manufacturing. It should have been obvious (and it was to many people) that moving manufacturing of critical items off shore was not a good idea. It’s especially true for the USA which has the land area, resources and people to make most everything. Our supposedly high-IQ ruling elite made these choices. Perhaps psychopathy results in a high time preference.
Good point.
Yes, this crisis is decades in the making.
This is what an apocalypse looks like in the sense that it reveals things which have been hidden.

THE MAN WAS A XENOS- A FOREIGNER- A CHINK. This is the reason for the Kung Flu.
“THEY ALL NEED TO GO.”
We voted for this in 2016, and TRUMP FAILED US. We didn’t need a DOW 30k, we needed OUR COUNTRY BACK- WHITE, ENGLISH, CHRISTIAN.
If we needed any more rationale for a revolt against the Deep State, LOOK AT ALL THE JEWS in that ‘Heroes of the Pandumbic’ twitter video. They are the EVIL SEED that is the reason for this country being DAMNED by the Almighty.

A lot of this is strange.
Nothing surprising.
SARS, bird flu, H1N1, Ebola, Zika. George W. Bush and Obama both had to deal with outbreaks of new viruses. The trend was accelerating too. This was so predictable that the Trump administration simulated an outbreak of a novel coronavirus last year.
Yeah, this stuff happens all the time.
Not really, back when the Ebola thing his I immersed myself in quite a few books in the library about viruses, emerging diseases, pandemics and found there is a whole lot of scientists who make a living predicting such and writing about it. Youtube is popping up a recommended video of a Royal Society Lecture in the historic Faraday Lecture Hall of one of the head Aids guy from Belgium lecturing about the possibility of another Pandemic and it’s mostly about SARS and Ebola. None of this shows they were plotting with Bill Gates and the Deep State to create a pandemic. Giving speeches about it is what they do. One complaint that is valid is why didn’t the Ebola scare here in 2014 lead to an inventory of our PPE and notice how lacking it was? South Korea beefed up their pandemic plan after getting caught with their pants down by MERS in 2015. Now we have no ability to produce enough masks, and we let the Chinese steal what we did have right off our retail shelves in January.
Watching the Met Opera’s nightly livestreams during the pandemic, I was treated to watching ‘Nixon in China’- an opera I had not viewed since @1988 on PBS-TV from the work’s premiere. Seeing the “Ganbei” toast video about Corona-chan above, it hit me that this scene at the end of Act I of the Opera is a minutes long formal dinner with politicians and Chicoms, all saluting each other, saying…. ‘Ganbei.’
History does repeat it self- sometimes scarily so. We’ve just never been ‘lucky’ enough to live through a European-style Black Death. And we (the USA) should NEVER have opened Chinkland to the West. Nixon, you were a foolish, naive, egotistic idealist (i.e., politician) who didn’t know what you were setting the USA up for….we may die with a whimper, as it has been said.
FWIW, the descent of the plane in the first minutes of the opera, is the only really great stagecraft idea. And it was later upstaged by the same schtick in Miss Saigon, a rip-off of Puccini’s Madama Butterfly. History, repeating itself, over and over…. like an 8-track tape.
In other news did you know that Roberta Kaplan of Charlottesville fame is connected to convicted rapist Harvey Weinstein? http://news4whites.blogspot.com/?m=1
Gee, that might just be the most shocking news I’ve heard all day… ?
These (((creatures))) have no shame, and even less self-awareness. The general public, whites included, have made it FAR too easy for them to invert the truth in ways that defy all sensibilities. No one even thinks twice about it. We are FUCKED.
Wuhan should have been nuked around new year

Trump is supposed to trust this same Deep State intelliegnce that tried to blame Russia for his election and got us into Iraq becuase Saddam had weapons of mass destruction? And what if he DID believe them and issued orders in January? Who would have believed him?
Indeed. The Dems and the media (but I repeat myself) were already ridiculing and excoriating him (“Racist!”) just for the tiny half-measures he did take, like the incomplete, half-hearted ban on travel with China.
Again, the problem — the Presidency is a very weak position, and only seems strong when the President’s party and the media bolster it/him, and the legal profession is not motivated to hinder his every move, which it can (a fact that many, perhaps most, of us only learned once Trump got into power and it was revealed that every single meagre district judge in America has veto power over government policy, any time he wishes).
This is the greatest “own goal” in human history, and we are just getting started: not with the dying, that was overblown and already plateaued, but with the socio-econonic effects of the panic.
Driven by the global liberal elite centeted in New York in an attempt to make China and then Trump look bad, they will now face the ramifications of shutting down the economy.
This is great for my politics and I am happy they inflicted such a wound on themselves. They will try to memory hole this but it cannot be done. It opens the door to new way as they have lost the proverbial “mandate of heaven”.
One of the greatest three weeks in my life!
PS Trump is a literal idiot, an idiot savant, but still an idiot
1) Chinese government lies and cover-up made it difficult to ascertain the virus’ seriousness. Until it hit a Western, more open democracy – Italy and Spain – people basically withheld judgment.
2) 99% of US government, big business and media is in Beijing’s pocket. NBA a major example of this last year. They didn’t want to ruffle feathers or compromise their slice of the $$$.
No, anyone who could see the Chinese reaction knew without any doubt that it was dangerous. However, these people in public health were prepped for this with seminars to respond tepidly (there was a lot of harsh criticism of the Chinese response) at the beginning when there was a chance to do something about it. There are way too many women in responsible positions. Getting it to spread in the USA was part of the plan. The more people it kills the better able they’ll be able to capitalize on the crisis.

How Bill Ackman Turned $27 Million Into $2.6 Billion During the Coronavirus Crisis – Barron’s
Billionaire investor Bill Ackman announced earlier this month that he had been hedging his portfolio against market volatility spurred by the coronavirus. The bet paid off handsomely.
Ackman’s Pershing Square Capital Management hedge fund laid out $27 million to buy credit protection on global investment-grade and high-yield credit indexes. The purchases, which were made late last month when credit spreads were tighter, carried limited downside risk but the potential for significant upside. Ackman said Wednesday that he finished unwinding the hedges on Monday, reaping $2.6 billion in proceeds.
The hedge fund honcho has been making the media rounds recently, demanding that president Donald Trump institute a 30-day national shutdown to slow the spread of the coronavirus. He even warned that failing to act could take hotel stocks to zero. Nevertheless, he has been buying up stocks.

**As much as you understandingly do not trust Trump on a lot of issues, at least be honest, and get the essential facts straight on easily verifiable matters such as this one.
I”m not sure the Jeff Bezo’s blog paper is a reliable source of information. Trump did ban flights from China and was called as usual, a racist within seconds. Meantime, Pelosi was out in late February in Chinatown and other lefties were saying everything is fine. Trump has been handling the attacks well; maybe he can get some of the critical items and pharmaceutical production back to the US.
Most of those who get it are recovering; the rest dying have existing medical issues that would have made them vulnerable to a flu, viral pneumonia, or who knows what else. The press is enjoying a disaster and truly want the population to be unhappy thinking they will blindly vote left.
Since we don’t know about it’s transmitted and it’s possible that those with no symptoms can transfer it, that what makes it scary, but so does the cold and flu and other viruses.
The US Intelligence probably had some honest people in it. However we’ve been on this ride with Trumptard. White People have never been more brainwashed than now. Everybody was 100% believing the economy was great. All it took was 1 virus and the whole thing came crashing down. Now his brainwashed supporters are still in line…in line literally standing in front of Walmart because only a few people can be inside at a time. Signs asking that only 1 family member go inside at a time. Oh but everybody is still a Trumptard. Life as we know it is now gone. The majority of America is in lockdown. People are sick and dead everywhere. What else? Not only did he let a dangerous virus spread into our country but the rest of the World. He’s all talk on the wall and he was all talk on China. He rivals Abraham Lincoln as the worse President in US history. Deo Vindice !
