These people have zero self awareness.
What did you do yesterday? As usual, I sat at home and made fun of people on the internet. In Washington, however, Senate Democrats spent the day accusing their opposition of trying to impose “Jim Crow 2.0” on blacks in preparation for their attempted power grab to gut the filibuster to pass their voting rights bill which only failed because Joe Manchin and Kyrsten Sinema blocked the effort.
Have you noticed that these people have a habit of accusing us of doing the very things that they are doing? We hear these dire warnings about the rise of “authoritarianism” and “illiberalism” and “racism” from the people who are eager to discriminate against Whites in every aspect of public policy to promote “equity,” who have censored the entire internet, who have weaponized the FBI, who have turned Congress into a witch hunting Inquisition, who have imposed segregation on the “unvaccinated,” etc.
“American democracy has often confronted hostile forces from outside the United States; rarely has it been under as much of a threat from forces within the nation. The danger arises from illiberalism on the left and the right. Both sides are chipping away at the foundations of the American Republic; each side seems oblivious to its own defects.
Again and again, we have heard conservatives argue that even if you believe that Donald Trump is flawed and the MAGA movement is worrisome, the left is much more dangerous. We disagree. Fears about the left’s increasingly authoritarian, radical tendencies are well grounded; but they have blinded many conservatives to the greater danger posed by the right, which we believe is a threat to our constitutional order and therefore to conservatism itself. …”
Hillary Clinton said Trump was an illegitimate president.
The Russia Hoax which was based on the media flooding the country with disinformation went on for years. Does anyone else remember when Antifa rioted in DC to block Trump’s inauguration? Did Trump ever do anything as radical as ordering a purge of “extremists” from the U.S. military?
It is true that the two sides here are not equal. Joe Biden’s base are PMCs who are natural authoritarians and busybodies who relish bossing other people around. In contrast, Trump’s base are folk libertarians. They are opposed to the state taking away their guns. They are hostile to vaccine mandates. They don’t trust institutions. They have normal aspirations like secure borders and law and order. Generally speaking, they want to be left alone by the government and are happy to leave other people alone.
That’s the thing though with PMCs. As busybodies, they can’t leave you alone and respect your own space. They have to control and micromanage everything … the words you are allowed to say, your own personal health, whether you can own a firearm and most absurdly of all your diet. Donald Trump wasn’t a fascist dictator so much as he was just a giant middle finger to those people on the coasts.
As things stand today, various op-ed writers in the New York Times who are opposed to the rise of “authoritarianism” are only asking for small concessions like getting rid of the U.S. Constitution because it is an antiquated “white supremacist” document, getting rid of the filibuster, getting rid of the Senate, getting rid of the Electoral College, packing the Supreme Court, adding states, getting rid of the Bill of Rights and other obstacles to “our democracy.” By “our democracy,” they mean obstacles to their own power and rule as a social class. They are entitled to rule over everyone else who lives here.
