Axios: Elon Musk Joins Twitter’s Board of Directors

BOOM!

Axios:

“Elon Musk will join Twitter’s board of directors after purchasing a 9.2% stake in the social media company and becoming its largest shareholder, according to documents submitted to the Securities and Exchange Commission.

Why it matters: Musk, who has criticized Twitter for “failing to adhere to free speech principles,” can reform the platform to his liking from his new position in the company, Axios’ Hope King reports. …”

  1. Needless to say Elon is a visionary and I applaud what he is setting out to accomplish. But I think it’s unfortunate that we have to rely on a benevolent billionaire to restore our freedom of speech. We should be fighting for our rights. Instead we have allowed ourselves to be ruled over by a small number of arrogant weaklings who fear and hate us.

Musk is barred from owning more than 14.9% of Twitter’s outstanding stock while he sits on the board, Twitter Inc. said in a Tuesday regulatory filing.

The background of this limitation isn’t clear to me, i.e. whether it is due to an SEC regulation, or whether it was part of the agreement between Musk and Twitter that resulted in Musk being given a seat on the board — ?

I have no idea what Musk has planned, why he would agree to limit his stake (?), or what he can actually do via his one seat on Twitter’s board — generally, a board is expected to exercise a kind of oversight, which normally does not include intervention in day-to-day company operation.

But the announcement of Musk’s stake caused a lot of shorts to cover, as well as speculative buying (trades) into that price jump, so Musk has already made a profit — which was part of his original calculus, I’m sure.

What Musk does best is self-promotion.

  3. This is a win-win situation.

Even if Elon Musk takes over Twitter and completely destroys it, that alone would be one of the greatest acts anyone has ever done to promote free speech and Musk should get some sort of “Nobel” type award for just wiping this free-speech suppression site out.

  4. If Musk is talking about hate being a problem in society than he’s not really interested in free speech. . Insulting, derogatory and unpopular speech is part of the 1st.

  5. It’s very indicative what eunuchs conservatives are when they simp for billionaires Musk and Zion Don. Downright pitiful.

    • Very true. Musk is another gatekeeper. Don’t be fooled. As the Big Bear has noticed – We never needed them. Neither Zion Don, Musk or anyone else approved by (((Wall Street))) is not your savior.
