I think I have solved the mystery.
Younger voters who dislike the political establishment and who like Tucker Carlson and Breaking Points and who consume independent media are far more skeptical and opposed to U.S. intervention in Ukraine than Boomers who get their news from Facebook and cable television.
If your views on foreign policy were shaped by Iraq, Syria, Afghanistan and Libya, you tend to be less hawkish and interventionist. In contrast, if you are a Reaganite and your views on foreign policy were shaped by the Cold War, you are far more likely to be hawkish on Russia.
Note: The shift from Tucker Carlson to Hannity explains everything. Tucker is speaking to younger, more populist Republicans who don’t remember the Cold War, but who vividly remember Iraq.
The end of the Cold War was one of the most momentous events of the 20th century. Yet, you hear little or nothing about it because it was such a huge blow to the leftists and liberals who control the West. They have never forgiven Russia for throwing off the Worker’s Paradise. It helps to explain the years of aggression toward post-Cold War Russia.
The Usual Suspects jumped on the opportunity to loot the USSR when it disintegrated, it was another act of vengeance against their most hated foes. Jeffrey Sachs, Harvard economist, lead the team of U.S. advisers preaching privatization, austerity and free market bullshit to the new Russian government after the fall of communism in the early 1990’s. The results were of course disastrous for most Russians.

That is the period (early 1990’s) when “Russian” (ha!) oligarchs made their vast, obscene fortunes by acquiring title to industrial complexes and natural resources primarily. Even moveable property like stocks of manufactured goods, ships, aircraft etc. were carried away and sometimes sold merely for scrap value with the profits going into the pockets of The Usual Suspect oligarchs. Boris Yeltsin, a drunk and U.S. puppet when sober presided over this period of national disintegration.

The election of Vladimir Putin put an end to the financial reign of terror by the oligarchs, and they have neither forgiven nor forgotten this cardinal sin against them. Many of them fled abroad with their ill gotten gains while others were jailed in Russia and stripped of their obscene wealth. Some cooperated with Vladimir Putin but on his terms, not theirs. The result has been a revival of Russia’s fortunes compared to the bleak decade after communism but without The Usual Suspect oligarchs running amok.

Their compatriots in the West are now exacting a toll on Russia for Putin’s campaign against them using Ukraine as their cat’s paw. this is a mirror image of the 1962 Cuban Missile Crisis when the USSR stationed nuclear weapons 90 miles from the U.S. They ultimately are the same people who are the oligarchs controlling Western governments under the wonderful system of “democracy” we now enjoy which is threatening the world with nuclear war as seriously as back in 1962.
Agree and I think it’s even more pushed by the richer folks who don’t want Russia to become an economic powerhouse like China, which would hurt the US. There’s only so much room for nations at the top.
The American regime is hostile towards post-Soviet Russia because Putin stands in the way of US/Zionist aggression in Eastern Europe and the Middle East. The Radical Left gave up on the USSR when Stalin had Molotov sign that non-aggression pact with Germany, then had Kamenev, Zinoviev and Trotsky eliminated.
A Soviet Russia mired down with economic chaos and a demoralized population was little or no threat to the globalist goals of our usual suspects.
American liberals and leftists were almost universally opposed to the USSR because they considered it to be “fascist.”
The Cold War is long past. The Warsaw Pact is long dead. There isn’t a global push to spread Communism, Comintern is dead.
There is no reason to spread antipathy toward Russia. Leave those people to resolve their own disputes.

My views on foreign policy are based on my study of history, and upon Jeffersonian republicanism. We don’t need to go abroad in search of monsters to slay. Period.

What is most important today is that the U.S. has successfully removed the president of Pakistan, Imran Khan, and is putting a Juan Guaido like puppet in his place. For a few days it appeared that the U.S.’s coup was failing, but with enough bribery it appears anything is possible. The new selected puppet will support the U.S. against Russia and China, and allow the U.S. to use Pakistan to blockade and attack neighboring Afghanistan, and will continue the divide-and-rule cold war with India. So the Empire wins one today.
