The Left is celebrating this as a big win.
Personally, I never cared for Hot Wheels. I’m not surprised he lost either. He never struck me as a serious person even though he voted the right way on lots of issues. He was one of the most grating members of Congress.
He wasn’t wrong about Republican Cocaine Orgies but he should have known to not say it in public in the post Ghislaine Maxwell era.

In January 2022, a group of North Carolina voters formally challenged Cawthorn’s qualifications to run again, “citing his participation in a rally last January in Washington that questioned the presidential election outcome and preceded the Capitol riot.” The challenge is based on the third section of the Fourteenth Amendment, which prohibits anyone who has “engaged in insurrection or rebellion” against the U.S. government from holding public office.
He was targeted over Jan 06 (which probably didn’t help him with the GOP), as were a number of others — I recall seeing an article about this several weeks ago, and contacted the group (somewhat ironically called Free Speech for the People) via their website.
As is not uncommon, Wikipedia is being dishonest when it says ‘a group of North Carolina voters’ — a NYT article is more truthful:

The two organizations are asking their followers to send letters to secretaries of state across the country, demanding they “exclude Mr. Trump from the ballot” because of the Disqualification Clause.
So there is money behind these lawsuits.
That “democracy” for you, expose the crooks, drug parties and be on the wrong side of the war and your own party will turn on you if you don’t play ball with them.
