Paleoconservatism: The Journey From The Margins To The Mainstream

Editor’s Note: I delivered the following speech at The Political Cesspool 20 Year Anniversary Conference this morning.

I want to talk with you today about a paradox.

At the level of metapolitics, which is the realm of ideas, values and priorities, it seems like everything has changed on the Right. At the level of politics, however, nothing much has changed. We continue to be bitterly disappointed. We are like Charlie Brown trying to kick the football which Lucy always pulls away at the last minute. Political victories always seem just over the horizon.

I’ve been politically active since 2000. I will start there because my political awareness only goes back about 24 years to the dawn of the new millennium. I was a 20-year-old sophomore at Auburn University in Alabama. I was growing concerned about racially charged issues like illegal immigration and affirmative action. I voted for the first time in the 2000 presidential election. I voted for Al Gore because I disliked George W. Bush. It wasn’t an ideological vote. I had an instinctive dislike of the man.

As many of you will recall, Pat Buchanan ran for president on the Reform Party ticket in 2000. He defeated Donald Trump in the primary and won 450,000 votes in the general election. Some of you were likely part of the 0.4% of Americans who voted for him. I first heard about Pat Buchanan during the Florida Recount when votes for him on the infamous “butterfly ballot” in Palm Beach County, FL cost Al Gore the presidency. I was too young to remember his presidential campaigns in the 1990s.

In hindsight, the years around 2000 were the winter of paleoconservatism and the summer season of neoconservative dominance of the Right. National Review, The Weekly Standard and Commentary, which were all controlled by first and second generation neocons, defined the boundaries of the respectable midwit Right. FOX News, which was also controlled by neocons and dominated by Irish Catholic blowhards like Bill O’Reilly and Sean Hannity, defined the lowbrow Right. The Religious Right was dominated by Christian Zionists and neocons like Richard John Neuhaus. Pat Buchanan, who had been smeared as an anti-Semite by William F. Buckley, had left the Republican Party and led the Reform Party into oblivion. Sam Francis, who had been fired by the Washington Times for remarks he made at the 1995 American Renaissance conference, edited the Citizens Informer on the margins of the Right. Both Buchanan and Francis were published by VDARE which was founded by Peter Brimelow in 1999.

I don’t remember much about the glory days of the Reagan era during the Cold War when the United States triumphed over the Evil Empire and the Berlin Wall came down. It coincided with my childhood. I don’t remember William F. Buckley either. This is important because I am middle aged now and no one younger than me remembers this time either. My formative influences in young adulthood in the 2000s were George W. Bush and 9/11, the Iraq War and the Crash of 2008. I also developed my views through interacting with likeminded people on the internet, not through watching television.

In the early 2000s, the mainstream Right was still in thrall to its vision of Reaganism, which only seemed to become more ambitious after Reagan himself departed the political scene. The mainstream Right was pro-war, pro-immigration and pro-globalization. It was “optimistic” about America’s future. It supported amnesty for illegal aliens and global free trade. Nationalism and populism were stigmatized on the Right. “Racism” was strongly taboo. Antisemitism was verboten. Protectionism was a dirty word. True Conservatism was defined as classical liberalism. The SPLC and ADL were considered respected “watchdog” organizations. It was a party in which John McCain was considered a “Maverick” and the leading rival to the establishment. Much of the energy of the Right at this time was focused on “ending evil” and “ending tyranny” in the world by exporting democracy and liberalism to the Middle East.

Those of us who recoiled from this glorious vision and who identified with its critics developed an acute sense of our own marginalization. White identitarians, paleoconservatives, rightwing populists and libertarians were always part of the Republican coalition. We were junior partners though. The values and priorities of the Republican establishment and its demographic base among White college educated voters in the suburbs were very different. The conservative movement understood their coalition as a “three-legged stool” of social conservatives (the Religious Right), defense hawks (neocons) and fiscal conservatives (free marketers). The reality of the Republican coalition was becoming more complex than this antiquated self image in the 2000s. There were millions of disaffected White voters who rejected the Left and usually voted Republican, but who were misaligned with the mainstream Right for various reasons, mostly due to its dumb ideology which was still a reaction to the New Deal era.

Mainstream conservatives had FOX News and the Wall Street Journal, National Review and the Washington Times, Rush Limbaugh and Michael Savage. They had gatekeepers at all the institutions which they policed to keep out the “racists.” They even had Tucker Carlson in those days. In contrast, we had Pat Buchanan in exile on MSNBC. We had our own alternative archipelago of web zines, forums, podcasts and blogs on the internet. We also had the comment section … do you remember those?

These websites exploded in number in the 2000s and were the seedbed of our dissident rightwing counterculture. We discussed and debated all the taboo issues. We read all the pundits who were purged from respectable conservatism like Joe Sobran and John Derbyshire. This “national conversation” was driven underground and went on outside of mainstream channels. It didn’t attract much attention until the consensus that gradually developed out of it became known in the 2010s as the “alt-right.”

In my case, it began with discovering Stormfront in 2001 and reading Pat Buchanan’s book The Death of The West, which was about Western cultural decline and the Great Replacement. Pat Buchanan released a torrent of books and columns in those years: The Great Betrayal (1998), A Republic, Not an Empire (1999), The Death of the West (2002), Where The Right Went Wrong (2004), State of Emergency (2006), Day of Reckoning (2007), Suicide of a Superpower (2011). I also read Peter Brimelow’s Alien Nation (1999) and Lawrence Auster’s The Path to National Suicide (1991). I read Richard Herrnstein and Charles Murray’s The Bell Curve (1994). I read Jared Taylor’s Paved With Good Intentions (1992). I read Dr. Kevin MacDonald’s The Culture of Critique (1998) and David Duke’s My Awakening (1998). I devoured Sam Francis, Steve Sailer and Paul Gottfried columns at VDARE and Chronicles. I listened to Dr. William Pierce’s radio show. I read Justin Raimondo on Antiwar.com. I used to read the paleolibertarians on LewRockwell.com.

In retrospect, I absorbed my politics from Pat Buchanan and other older men in the paleoconservative / paleolibertarian / White identitarian sphere. In particular, I remember Buchanan saying everything that really needed to be said on issues from deracination to demographic change to the West’s religious and cultural decline to liberalism to the American Empire to the power of the Israel Lobby in Congress. It is all there. Buchanan even wrote the definitive book on World War II – Churchill, Hitler and The Unnecessary War – which was published in 2008. National identity issues became the salient issues for us. We understood that the rest of our lives were going to be defined by a tumultuous era of racial and cultural change. Mainstream conservative liberals couldn’t imagine a world where anyone would be disturbed about this. Their view was that it would all work out once the government was cut down to size.

Almost 25 years have passed. That’s an entire phase of life.

I was a young adult in 2001. I am a middle aged man with two children in 2024. I’m getting gray hairs. A generation below me has reached young adulthood. My grandparents generation has passed away. We now live in a world where everyone younger than 45 was raised on the internet.

We have been posting on the internet for a quarter century now, reading and sharing articles, commenting on articles, producing and listening to podcasts, producing and watching videos, hosting and attending conferences like this one. The development of social media essentially threw gasoline on the conversation that we were already having online. The internet was relatively free until 2017. The Powers That Be didn’t grasp the significance of what was happening until Hillary Clinton lost the 2016 election.

Here are some numbers which I would have found too optimistic in 2004:

  • In a recent Marist poll in April 2024, 84% of Republican voters supported deporting ALL illegal aliens. 77% considered anti-White racism as problematic as anti-black racism. 65% thought immigration was bad for the economy. 77% said they believed America was too politically correct. 56% desire a strong leader who will break the rules to set things right. 28% believe they might even have to resort to violence to sort it out. The poll found that opposition to illegal immigration, political correctness and anti-White racism were the most galvanizing and unifying issues for Republican voters.
  • In a recent Chicago Council on Global Affairs poll in May 2024, 86% of Republicans prioritized controlling and reducing immigration as an important policy goal. 89% supported increased deportations. 87% supported expanding the border wall with Mexico. 85% wanted to penalize businesses that hire illegal aliens. Only 33% support a path to citizenship for illegal aliens.
  • In a recent Gallup poll in April 2024, 27% of Americans picked immigration as their most important issue. This is the first time in the history of the Gallup poll that immigration has not only been the most important issue, but has stayed there for the past three months.
  • In a recent U Mass Amherst poll, 60% of Republicans said they believed America was in danger of losing its identity. 66% believe the Great Replacement is happening. Multiple polls on this issue have illustrated that Americans understand this in terms of racial and cultural demographic change.
  • In the most recent PRRI American Values Survey, 52% of Republicans said they believed that God intended America to be a promised land for European Christians. 72% thought America had become too soft and feminine. 55% see immigrants as invaders. 69% see immigrants as a threat to American customs and values. Only 30% believe “white supremacy” is still a problem
  • In a recent Chicago Council on Global Affairs Survey, 53% of Republican voters wanted America to stay out of world affairs. This is the first time in the history of the survey than staying out of world affairs has been preferred to taking an active part in world affairs. In the 2000s, only 27% of Republican voters on average wanted to stay out of world affairs.
  • In the latest New York Times/Siena poll, 69% of Americans wanted either major changes to the system or to tear it down entirely
  • In a CBS News poll, 81% of Republican primary voters said they agreed with Trump that immigrants are “poisoning the blood” of the country
  • In a recent Gallup poll, only 17% of Republican voters were satisfied with the way our democracy is working, which is down from 67% in 1998.
  • In a recent American Compass poll , 77% of Republican voters supported tariffs to boost American manufacturing. 78% supported government support to developed advance technologies like semiconductors. 57% thought Wall Street investors were weakening our economy. 41% of Republican voters even had a positive view of labor unions
  • In a recent poll which was featured in a Jerusalem Post article, nearly half (42.4%) of young evangelical Christians under 30 said that they neither supported Israel or the Palestinians. There has been a 50% plunge in support for Israel among young evangelicals since 2018
  • In a recent Gallup poll, 30% of Republican voters disapproved of Israel’s military actions in Gaza. A recent Pew poll found that 26% of Republican voters oppose military aid to Israel. A recent Reuters/Ipsos poll found that 34% of Republicans are less likely to support candidates that support military aid to Israel. Support for Israel is strongly related to age.

Generally speaking, public opinion on the Right is trending in the right direction on almost all of our key issues. Identity issues are now the animating force in the Republican coalition. We live in world where Rich Lowry is publishing books like The Case for Nationalism and writing articles like “Yes, Fight Anti-White Racism” and where immigration is the most important issue. Yoram Hazony hosts National Conservatism conferences. Even our traditional enemies now want to be perceived as nationalists.

These sentiments have also made their way into official campaign rhetoric. Donald Trump is running in 2024 on deporting all illegal aliens, building the border wall, ending our involvement in foreign wars, enacting huge tariffs on Chinese goods (Joe Biden has already beat him to it), dismantling the Deep State, ending anti-White discrimination and so on. Whether Trump will actually follow through on any of these laudable goals is a separate question. He is making his pitch to an audience which wants these things. It is things which we wanted 20 years ago when most Republicans were clapping like seals for the Patriot Act and supporting the invasion of Iraq. Even the U.S. military is now suspect on the Right.

Six years ago, woke evangelical elites in the Southern Baptist Convention like Dwight McKissic and Russell Moore mounted a campaign to get my friend James Edwards ousted from his church. The Southern Baptist Convention condemned the alt-right. Today, every Christian church including my own church – the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod – are dividing over the rising influence of the Dissident Right and Christian nationalism. Big Eva elites like Russell Moore and Beth Moore have been ousted from positions of influence. The Presbyterian Church in America recently cancelled a panel that featured David French due to an overwhelming online backlash. In April, the French family stormed out of the PCA after accusing their last church of being “brimming with neo-Confederates” who have repeatedly confronted them at the communion table. Over half of Southern Republicans now support a National Divorce.

These are all highly encouraging numbers.

Whether it is White Christian nationalism, a National Divorce, the growth of nationalism and populism on the American Right, opposition to globalism, support for industrial policy, explicit opposition to anti-Whiteism, a desire to deport all illegal aliens and cut legal immigration, skepticism about Our Greatest Ally Israel, concern about cultural decline or a desire to stay out of foreign wars, ordinary people have received the message. It is resonating. Even Charlie Kirk can be found bashing MLK these days.

In spite of all this good news, which is welcome and long overdue, the catch is that so much work still needs to be done. Nothing that we want is really happening in spite of the growth in public support. Instead, Congress recently voted to spend $95 billion to support the wars in Israel and Ukraine. Illegal immigration is currently at an all time high. Anti-white discrimination and hate in education has never been more intense. The Deep State has never been this out of control. Donald Trump is currently on trial in New York. Confederate monuments and other historic monuments like statues of Christopher Columbus have been coming down for years. Meanwhile, House Republicans have funded a new FBI building, renewed and expanded government surveillance and have held over 20 separate votes on Israel and anti-Semitism in the last two months. We have been told that Jewish students on Ivy League campuses are facing the equivalent of the Jim Crow South and Nazi Germany. The Republican House recently passed the Antisemitism Awareness Act and the Israel Security Assistance Support Act which would defund our own Department of Defense until Israel gets the military aid that recently cleared Congress.

It is no exaggeration to say that Israel’s Amen Corner on Capitol Hill looms large as a bigger problem than ever. It has hijacked the legislative agenda. No other issue facing the nation receives adequate attention. Victory for us feels so close and yet at the same time still so far away because it is so difficult to imagine our current representatives spending their political capital to address any of our issues. Even if Donald Trump wins the 2024 election, you have to wonder: will that benefit us or mainly Israel?

We’ve come a long way over the past 25 years. The metapolitical battle is close to being won. The challenge of the next 20 years will be figuring out how to translate these metapolitical gains into tangible political power and actual political victories. Thank you.

  2. I read it all, there is nothing to disagree with in there. Yet the raging world war is the single most important event in our generation, and it is not mentioned.

    Recent articles on Wagner Watch report “thousands of Russian fighters flooding into Libya”, new Russian bases, a Naval Base under construction on the Med, massive ship loads of Russian weapons pouring into Libya, and the Mockingbird Media is silent. Because they cannot stop it. Russia is rolling back the Foreign Empire for us.

    Now Egypt has called Israhell insane and delusional and is deploying the Army to the Israhelli border… Now that Russia has their back, the Egyptians are showing some courage. It is looking like Russia will soon control most of Mediterranean African coast and most of Africa itself.

    This is not speculation, it is happening. Africa has become a major front in the world war, and the Russian/Chinese side is winning. The empire is dying. As Putin said, The Vampire Ball is OVER.

    The world war now has three active fronts, Ukraine, Palestine, and the vast land of North Africa. The fourth developing front is in the South China Sea.

    Zog is deploying medium range cruise missiles on Filpino islands. A truly massive American military buildup in the Philippines is ongoing. China warned this week that if those missiles are used against Chinese forces they will attack our carriers. They said they can sink all 12 carriers with just 24 of their hypersonic missiles. And they have a few thousand of those, so the threat is real.

    The world war should be part of the analysis. It complicates everything to be sure. But we should accept the reality of the war, which has already started. And we should accept the obvious reality that NATO/ZOG will lose the war, and lose it badly.

    The problem is the empire. The Russians are solving that one for us. By the time of the 2028 elections, the empire will be nothing but a bad memory. The dollar will be completely worthless. Then the gibbs won’t be enough to keep the coloreds quiet. They will rampage, in masse, by the millions. That is what we need to prepare for.

The problem is that the powerful people who dictate political agendas in the world know that it is one thing to have consent from the people or on the Internet, it is another thing to have real power. These have real power, which goes beyond elections, online media, etc. These gentlemen do not care which political candidate is voted for because that political candidate then has to answer to them. It is as if there is a group of 300 unarmed people (we the citizens, the people) who think they can defeat a group of 10 people armed with guns, machine guns, etc. (they, the ones who have power and make decisions for the world). The point then is not only to increase our numbers, which is fine, but at the same time to arm ourselves (by arm ourselves I mean gain real power that is not mere voting power). For example what you say Brad is correct “monuments are still being torn down and anti-white discrimination continues”……this is because real power in universities, courts and other places are not in the hands of people who think like us and are not dependent on voting in elections. I speak for America but this is also true for the rest of Western countries. There can be a right-wing government but as long as woke characters are in universities as professors, in courts as judges and other places of power and as long as these elites dictate what is right and what is wrong, any politician can get elected who will succeed in doing little or nothing anyway.

    That’s all good and fine, but, and that is a massive BUT, the GOP donor class which the largest donors are uber wealthy jews disagrees with all the plurality in the polls you cite of republican voters. You know by now who the politicians do the bidding of, and it is not us.

    It is pointless and demoralizing to get on the “Trump Train” or back any republicans with the exception of Thomas Massie. One congressional critter out of 535.

    • Pretty much the entire speech was about 1.) it’s great that ordinary people, Republican voters, are coming around on most issues and 2.) how elected officials, Republican politicians, are still off in their own world doing the bidding of Jewish donors.

      Get political control, dominance in some White flight working class suburb like Metairie LA , run against Washington, New York, the UN, Hollywood , $ billions I. Foreign aid give always to Pakistan, Egypt, Ukraine and also yeah Israel.

  5. I hate to come off as a demagogue but this is really a question of GOOD VS EVIL.

    Right and wrong.

    Life and death.

    Criminal and ANTI-HUMAN elements in the business and political establishment have been doing bad things for a very long time and they have no intention of being held accountable for their crimes.

    How many people have died in Ukraine? Who’s next? You? Your son’s and daughters?

    I have stated previously on this blog that I am not specifically against intervention and pursuing American interests, even in a somewhat underhanded fashion. I believe destabilizing China and India wouldn’t be the worst thing ever. Bringing sanity and order to northern Mexico and Central America wouldn’t be particularly bad policy.

    Killing off millions of young, healthy men to serve globalist interests is in my opinion wrong. I suppose letting nature take it’s intended course cannot be considered “immoral” per se but not when pedophiles and racketeers get off scot free.

    The Slavs of eastern Europe have for too long allowed ignorance tribalism and superstition to color their lenses but I don’t want to die in their stupid wars

  7. A very good history and explanation of your position! I agree that a metapolitical battle for it appears to be being won and could be translated into actual politics in the U.S. homeland soon.

    As I understand it, your position – described as “nationalism, populism, reaction” and “Christian nationalism” – is conservative, not revolutionary, conserving the system, not overthrowing and destroying it. It appears to me to be anti-Left, anti-socialistic, even if it intends to safeguard or rebuild some of the system’s tattered “social safety net.” The history of fascism or populism is that it is a temporary phase of apparent course correction, a political maneuver by the capitalist class system to circumvent or stave off real, socialist revolution during severe depressions and crashes. It offers the masses the prospect of easy improvement of their lot just by voting, a broad level highway with a curve ahead around which the travellers can’t see the cliff or dead end – while the other road, the straight but steep, narrow and rocky path that does lead to real equality, liberty and fraternity looks “much too difficult” by comparison with the easy road.

    Back in the days of talk radio Savage was far more front and center on illegal immigration than the rest of the mainstream right

      • From what I heard, it is because there were so many open White Nationalists involved with his campaign that it was an optics issue. Buchanan didn’t want to be dismissed as a racist.

    • Buchanan was a major Irish Roman Catholic bullshitter. Never elected to any office. The bigger problem is too many Irish Roman Catholic bullshitters do get elected to office, and ally themselves with the Jews and Judeo-Christians.

  10. Yours truly caucused for Pat Buchanan in the Missouri caucuses in 1996. It was his only win after Bob Dole pretty much locked up the nomination.

    Then again, St. Louis was PJB’s second home. His first journalism job after graduation was with the old St. Louis Globe-Democrat. And when he lived in St. Louis for that job, for those of you to whom this matters, he lived in Soulard. That is, pre-gentrification Soulard.

  11. Well, keep supporting politicians who appear to be the most genuinely anti-establishment of the lot, whether they’re republican, a 3rd party or an independent.
    Maybe enough genuinely anti-establishment politicians will get in there to significantly change things in another generation or two, maybe not, we shall see.
    I doubt the system can be changed…through the political process alone, it may be necessary to be put pressure on it in many other ways…and I’ll leave it at that.
    Because the political process is extremely corrupt, from bribery, to blackmail, censoring, canceling, defaming, doxing, lawfare, electoral fraud and recruiting Antifa/BLM and other groups, including those on the fake right to commit acts of terror, the establishment is capable of anything.
    They are a crime network, guilty of every committing every crime in the book, from war crimes to drug and human trafficking.
    They’re not just gonna quietly hand over the reigns to their enemies; we the people.

  13. There will be no “next 20 years” . Complex systems always collapsing suddenly. They look eternal so nobody will worry until first serious cracks emerge and when those cracks emerge, then The End is so near than nobody cant do anything anymore.

    Complex system rot from inside. When rot already becomes visible from outside like we see in Ukraine or in Israel, then we know that system is totally rotten from inside.

    Israel looks strong, because its using all available resources. But cashing all checks, emptying all storages, losing all credibility and driving all its remaining allies mad by demanding impossible in not a strength but weakness. I think that Israel is burning all resources with such a speed that at the time of Donald comeback, Israel and whole world Jewry could be like Ukraine, flying on the fumes.

    The end of Soviet Union was predicted since Stalin death. Next 38 years, Soviet Union survived so many crises that it looked very much like some kind of giant who falls, then gets back on feet and keeps going forever. And then, in the quiet warm day in August 1991, Soviet Union collapsed so that 99% of the population barely noticed.

    I think that we are one serious event away from the collapse of Jew World Order.

    • The U.S. Dollar going bad will be the thing that ends GloboHomo. The U.S. Government has printed so much money backed by not one troy ounce, not one grain of gold or silver since Aug. 1971 that inflation has raged out of control. This destroys faith in the future value of the currency. If printing endless money were the route to prosperity and power then the Roman Empire would still rule the earth.

      Add to this sanctions against various governments using USD as well as the U.S. Government stealing foreign dollar assets and confidence in the U.S. generally is evaporating. Foreigners who see powerful fleets and impressive weapons must be shocked when they visit the U.S. and see what a shithole most cities are. Normal White people, the ones who make the country work at all are beset by the U.S. Government through diversity, immigration and financial hardship. For the U.S. Government to wage war against the very people who make the country function is clearly suicidal.

      The next big crisis, perhaps over Taiwan, perhaps over war in Lebanon, maybe another 2008 financial crash or all of these will be too much for GloboHomo Empire to overcome. Whatever it is there is something that is going to be the catalyst for an enormous, multifaceted crisis that neither Dementia Joe nor Orange Jeebus can fix. All that we can do is personally prepare for a difficult future. The most important part of that is to stay away from diversity so you don’t get enriched.

        Yes, but it’s backed by lots of bullets and carrier task force groups. It can force productive nations to support the currency with the currency of their productive societies eg Germany, for the past 6 decades

      Juri, the analogy of the Soviet Union is wrong. There was no necessity, no reason for its dissolution. The Union would still exist, and it would be as strong as ever, if it had not been betrayed by Trotskyist revisionists like Khruschev (whose anti-Stalin speech did more than anything else to confuse the people and weaken the Union) and fake-socialist capitalist-minded opportunists working with U.S. intelligence, like Gorbachev.

In 2016 it was over 50% of political contributions to the Dems came from Jews, and 25% of money to the GOP was from Jews. We need a pro-White version of AIPAC and the ADL.   18. Very good historical overview of both your and my political awakening, HW. Except I’m 25 years older than you are! I remember voting for Reagan the first time. I remember “US English“ and their attempts to make English the national language of the United States – but they had a Jap as their president. So it was all moot, even then- 20 years before you even began to get going.

    It all comes down to what God has foreordained for US. And whether or not, we will actually work for our salvation with fear and trembling, or pretend as though the Almighty has no “skin in the game”, as it were. But He does. White Adamity, alone are His Imago Dei.

    It’s only going to change when we begin to realize that they alone matter to Almighty God. And that we must rule and reign in His stead. That is what Christendom is. That is what it will always be.

    This follows The New Republic and The Wall Street Journal and many others saying the same.

    In fact it is becoming a loud chorus, with dozens now of prominent democrats from previous administrations saying that “Biden” must go, such as Carville.

    Today we have this Bongino freak vlogging that the Dems have a “secret” plan to replace “Biden”. Secret? Half the birds in Washington are chirping about replacing “Biden”, the when, the how, but mostly the who. Who will be the replacement?

    • My suspicion is that it will be Guv. Greathair of Kalifornistan. Total DS puppet from the Pelosi crime-family but a white guy with nice hair who’ll be promoted by the Mighty Wurlitzer to gaslight numerous white females to vote for him over Cheetohead the Pussygrabber. If the Dem Sanhedrin picks Heels-up Harris it will backfire with that demographic as they know she’s a bitch and a ho. They’ll have a more plausible excuse for their election-rigging than in 2020.

  21. I went through a lot of this same time period myself. I’ve lost much of the faith I once had IN THE system. things don’t seem to change, the same war mongers and tax cut jerks always seem to run things. they want to spend more on national defense than the rest of the world put together, and its never enough, yet we have no control over our own border. Why can’t South Korea pay to defend itself, I’ve asked this before.

    The Republican party seems to have lots of people who think guys like George Soros and Mark Zuckerburg need and deserve a big tax cut. The only way to make tax cuts work is to cut spending at big levels like was done in the 1920’s. The tax cuts don’t do anything but run up the debt the way they’ve been done since Reagan.

    Regardless who wins elections, things don’t seem to change.

  22. Just as many people wanted deportation of illegals 20 years ago. Nothing has really changed. Twenty years ago the conservative “public” was mad at RINOs who thought Bush was “too extreme” and preferred McCain, nowadays the conservative “public” is upset with the neocons RINOs and think that Donald Trump, the ultimate Likud candidate, is the answer.

    You forgot about Tony Snow at Fox News. Why do you think they had talking heads like Bill O’Reilly, ass-hats like Sean Hannity, Megyn Kelley, at Fox News? Do you realize what it would be like if they put Abbeville institute snoozers on TV? It would be like the WN version of TBN. I just wish Jared Taylor had been a Sunday morning televangelist, it would have been awesome as a kid to watch his sermons on Sunday morning before or after church.

    • I addressed this in a follow up podcast this afternoon.

      The Republican base was anti-immigration in the 2000s. Most Republican voters were strongly opposed to amnesty back then and wanted to cut legal immigration. That’s why it never passed. What has changed is that immigration is now the top priority. There is also much more alarm about changing racial and cultural demographics and less opposition within the party.

  23. Now is the time to entry into the GOP. Scores of sears in its precinct committee men structure, local party office boss positions are ripe for the taking by a few select nationalists working together. Then get access to member emails, phone numbers, and addresses and initiate a sanitized news info campaign. Then establish local small groups and advertise them to nearby party members, independents, etc that fit our political positions. At that point the party is ours. Even at this late hour, its not onky doable, its necessary for our very survival. I hope people like Hunter do this. We have a team ready to help you of you decide to do it. With our help we can make it happen for you.

  24. Pat Buhanan left an incredible body or work; everything is in there…from foreign policy to economics. He was 30-40 years ahead of his time…a visonary/ prophet like Jean-Marie Le Pen in France. I read all of his books except for 1 or 2 and there’s practically nothing to add today to his worldview. Unlike Carlson, who was a pompous neocon when a young man, Buchanan has had the same worldview forever. I find that fascinating. I would place Buchanan ahead of anyone else in terms of shaping my own worldview.
