Greenland Elects Pro-Independence Center Right Government

It doesn’t look like we will be getting Greenland any time soon. It really depends on whether the incoming center right government chooses to form a coalition with the runner up.

New York Times:

“With Greenland thrust into the spotlight by President Trump’s insistence that the United States will somehow “get” it, Greenlanders held a closely watched election on Tuesday that took on unusual importance — not just for the outside world, but for them as well.

Voter turnout hit its highest level in more than a decade, and polling stations on the remote, sparsely populated island, which is partly controlled by Denmark, stayed open late to accommodate long lines.

But with all votes counted early Wednesday morning, the results were mixed.

The winner was Demokraatit, a party that has been critical of Mr. Trump’s rhetoric. It has taken a moderate stance on the subject of independence from Denmark, which most Greenland politicians support as a long-term goal.

The second most popular party, Naleraq, however, has pushed hard for independence as soon as possible — which some of its members have said would enable Greenland to associate more freely with other countries, including the United States. One of Naleraq’s most prominent figures is very pro-Trump and attended the American president’s inauguration. …”

Trump said we would be getting it one way or the other. We will see.

  1. What could be the possible reason ?
Besides lead mines and lots of ice, what does that God forsaken island offer ?

  2. Well, if there’s anything Greenland needs, it’s blacks, pajeets, spics, trannies, gays, and jews. Make Greenland America Again!!!!

  3. Is is the money. Nothing will change in Greenland because:

    (1) Greenland cannot break the umbilical cord to the mother country, Denmark, because it needs the annual cash infusion of about 600 million USD.

    (2) Greenland has a Nordic welfare system with free higher education, free healthcare and robust and meaningful social security payments when unemployed, uncapacitated or old. Obviously, it will not get that from the US of A.

If we spend a few tens of billions and bribe every Greenlander with about $200,000 to come join us, they will still not agree. Because the $200 K will run out, but points (1) and (2) above are forever.

Also, racially, most Greenlanders are pure Inuit. A significant minority is a mix of Nordic and Inuit. The current PM of Greenland is such a mix (like Sarah Palin’s ex-husdband)

    • Greenland is rightful Scandinavian (most probably Icelandic or Norwegian) territory. The Vikings came there, and lived for several hundred years until the Eskimos killed them off. That’s historical fact
