I’m not sure what to make of this.
Initially, I thought the arrests and the lawfare might be the end of Donald Trump, but in retrospect it was an act of desperation and the beginning of the end of the liberal establishment. It was a key moment in Trump’s comeback and it was the rocket fuel he rode to win a second term.
“Marine Le Pen, the French far-right leader, was found guilty of embezzlement by a criminal court in Paris on Monday and immediately barred from running for public office for five years, setting off a democratic crisis in France.
The verdict effectively barred the current front-runner in the 2027 presidential election from participating in it, an extraordinary step but one the presiding judge said was necessary because nobody is entitled to “immunity in violation of the rule of law.” …”
I don’t know enough about French culture to predict how banning Le Pen will play out there. It could backfire on Democracy Defenders like it did here or Le Pen could end up like Golden Dawn. Bolsonaro is also being prosecuted over that January 6 like incident in Brazil.
Leftists are not able to win election with democratic system, so they use some strategies to block their political opponents. Twol main strategies are lawsuit against their opponents or ally with centre parties and other little parties in order to obtain the majority.
My hot takes.
Hot takes:
(1) Admittedly, the part of me that wants to be outraged over the lawfare has been tempered by the FN’s and MLP’s recent cucking out. Still, that’s no good reason not to be outraged. Eric Zemmour and Martin Sellner, two people who have every good reason in the world not to be outraged, are as outraged as much as anyone. Zemmour, because he’s trying to cultivate the space to the right of RN, and Sellner, because MLP threw Remigration under the bus.
(2) If there is any real there there to the criminal case, it’s because the RN was in financial dire straits in the middle of the last decade. It got so desperate that it took out a loan from a Russian bank, something that Emmanuel Macron raised hay about in the runoff three years ago. MLP noted rightly that they had to because no French bank would make the loan. That said, I could imagine that, during the times of peak desperation, MLP and various others got too tempted by all this EU money lying around. All in all, it’s far less egregious than what other people and parties do and get away with, the only difference is that they don’t have to live under an electron microscope.
(3) If this verdict holds, then in two years, for the first time in the history of the FN/RN, someone NOT named Le Pen will be carrying its banner. Most likely, that will be Jordan Bardella. However, he is also part of the cuckout caucus. What I’d be interested in is if this really and legitimately opens up some real space to the right of RN, namely, for Zemmour.
All the media:
“Marine LePen, far right politician…”
‘Far right’ ???? Hahaha ROFLMAO !
(I just hope that these libtards find out what ‘far right’ really is, when they are twisting in the wind.)
I have a different view. The lawfare on Trump was simply the law being applied. I do agree, though, that it helped Trump.
Long ago, a select team of old national security hands made a determination that the EU was Trojan horse for a tyrannical super state government and a threat to both the US, NATO, and the Free nations of Europe. The specific enemy within it was something called the International. The Eurocommies were heavily represented as where the Papacy and various Catholic banking and dynastic houses in this “International.” It thus had tentacles both with the Mafia and the Commies, the Corporations and the Bureaucracy. The EU has put a nitro into this groups campaign of centralized tyranny. At this point both national and sub national civil governments are captured including the judiciary. Additionally, the unaccountable EU bureaucracy has taken things from above. There is no escape.
The only way to fight this group is to wage a covert action campaign against the institutions, individuals, and regimes promoting tyranny in Europe. Brexit was a clean break but it wasn’t followed up by anything from the US least of all from within the UK. Tragically, Trump Adminostration has thrown out the baby with the bathwater in combating it. Instead of purging the soft power institutions and replacong them with MAGA Patriots, the Trump Administration simply disarmed American power. There is no Radio Liberty/Free Europe or any other soft power tools to combat tyranny on Europe now. There are no NGOs to run ops on behalf of rightwing nationalists movements in Europe. Even Covert Action seems to have been paralyzed so nothing there to run against the governments like in France. Musk, DOGE, and Trump killed our chances of rescuing Liberty in Europe short of armed revolution. Good job libertards.
Note: Le Pen has faced this before and won on appeal. But the process is part of the plan. Even should she succeed in appeal, it likely won’t come in time before the election. The only way to change this outcome fast enough is the old ways. Give them an offer they can’t refuse and get her fast tracked to acquittel.
The same country where it’s illegal to take statistics on racial demographics is now banning candidates that want less immigration.
Ah yes……..”democracy”.
One of the interesting data points coming out of the immediate post verdict polling is that way many more of the French consider the verdict to be politically motivated than disagree with the verdict.
I love paradoxes and contradictions and margins and differentials like this.
The kind of people who would believe that the verdict was politically motivated yet would not be dissatisfied with it:
(1) Left wing jerks who wanted such a politically motivated verdict
(2) Pop-nats angry at MLP and RN cucking out
(3) People who think that “the law is the law” but realize that in this use it is a single edged sword
Re (2), our anger at said cucking out is no reason to do anything but bemoan this verdict and all that led up to it.
