The Picky Eagle

Richard Haass’s book The Picky Eagle: How Democracy and Xenophobia Limited U.S. Territorial Expansion is an excellent book which explains why the United States abandoned territorial expansion and instead built the modern international system which outlawed territorial acquisition.

Spoiler: The U.S. gave up on expansion because it concluded that its neighbors weren’t worth the trouble of annexing and incorporating into the United States. Puerto Rico still isn’t a state.

    • This wasn’t always the case.

The book is about the story of how we avoided becoming diverse by avoiding becoming an empire in the 19th century. This began to change though after the annexation of Hawaii and the Spanish-American War.

  1. The Board Contrarian is back to say that it was a big mistake NOT to annex Puerto Rico, Cuba, and Mexico to incorporate them into the United States. WHY? It was the only way to enforce the Monroe Doctrine.

As much as the fact that ISRAEL also has a vested interest in seeing Venezuela, Cuba, and even Mexico should not mean we are so blinded by our Judeophobia that we collectively cut off our own noses to spite our faces.

Let’s face it, the reason why we did not do so was from a healthy sense of RACISM at the time not necessarily XENOPHOBIA because if the USA was xenophobic than the Founding WASP majority stock would have expelled, NOT let in, none but WASPS. They’d probably expel the Catholics and Jews, but then would be too busy fighting their own Sectarian squabbles to put together a cohesive White Anglo Saxon Protestant nation.

After the Black Slaves were freed and then formally given their own voting franchise, followed by the Amerind tribes and then last, the Asians got the right to citizenship and the vote in the mid 1940’s.

Of course, events south of our border forced us to stage coups and revolutions by covert actions that “intelligence” agencies are now directing at the White American stock. We could have done what TRUMP is doing now and enforce the MONROE DOCTRINE as it was intended to be used, but the anti-imperialist isolation sentiment was running too strong.

I’ll bet you young guys on this board weren’t aware that, in 1975, our government tried to change our measuring system from IMPERIAL to METRIC. So, they arbitrarily changed the road signs to reflect kilometers rather than miles. All over the country, the local, city, and federal governments found all their new road signs shot to pieces.

Well, facing such unified opposition, TPTB decided they should have EASED us into the metric system rather than throwing anyone who objects into the metric system overnight. So they put out bigger signs with BOTH measures on it only to find that the metric measurement of every sign was erased with bullets, so they took them all down and our roadways are still formatted to the Imperial measurements.

Republican President George Herbert Walker Bush as well as Canadian Prime Minister Brian Mulroney and Mexico President Carlos Salinas de Gortari co-signed the North American Free Trade Act on December 17, 1992 which was then implemented by Democrat President William Jefferson Clinton on December 8, 1993. Ross Perot’s eloquent arguments against NAFTA were effective in tanking Bush’s presidency but Ross himself was neutralized with charges of being crazy when he tried to stop Clinton from implementing it.

Perot’s presidential ambitions were destroyed, but a great number of Peroistas who voted for him were watching this debacle take place and trying to uncover what was the payoff, and who benefitted as well as what was the next step?

That’s when there was talk of a NORTH AMERICAN UNION between Canada, the USA, and Mexico There was even talk of the American and Canadian dollar as well as the Mexican PESO being erased with THE AMERO taking its place. Just like, after SOROS shorted it, the British POUND gave way to the EURO. But Great Britain was eased into the European Union after thinking they were simply trading their currency at the Common Market which was hijacked into the EU.

Well, Americans had a fit which almost – but not quite – matched the way they reacted to the GOOBERMINT trying to convert our IMPERIAL measuring system to a METRIC measuring system. Our sorry excuses for leaders, fearing that Americans would drill THEM with bullet holes if they tried to implement a North American Union and replace the dollar with the AMERO, they backed off … way, way off.

That doesn’t mean, though, they necessarily gave UP on the idea. However, I suspect the Trumpster wants to go WAAY BIGGER than the Bush Crime Family wanted to go. Why settle for only a NORTH AMERICAN UNION when you can preside over a PAN AMERICAN UNION. And why replace the DOLLAR with the AMERO so a bunch of other countries can save face when you can make THEM convert THEIR currency to the DOLLAR?

And fears of more browning in America – well, THAT’s already happening, anyway, BUT if the Trumpster can bring in majority White Canada and Greenland and absorb the WHITER countries in Latin America, like Argentina and Uruguay, well, that would be quite a feather in Trump’s cap.

My take on Trump is that he is more of a National Chauvinist who reviewed what went wrong with implementing the MONROE Doctrine wasn’t the RACISM per se, but the ISOLATIONISM. IOW, a racial caste system had already been implemented which put WHITE people at the top of the HIERARCHY.

There was this 1976 movie called “Voyage of the Damned” about Hitler sending a 900 German Jews on the MS St Louis passenger line so that any country that wanted to harbor them could take them in but no country would let them dock. They were turned away repeatedly which was made much of in this film. What was all but ignored was that there was ONE country that WANTED to take them in and that was The Dominican Republic.

Mejoranda La Raza – improving the race – was (and probably secretly still is) a BIG thing to Latin American culture. The dictator, Generalissimo Rafael Trujillo prevailed on his President Manuel de Jesús Troncoso de la Concha as President from 1938-1940, under Trujillo’s pervasive influence as dictator.

Trujillo was a very light-skinned Octoroon of Haitian descent, but unlike in America, where blacketty-black supremacism seems to reign. Trujillo loathed the Haitians, identified with his White side and wanted to bleach the Dominican Republic with as many White people as possible. This boatload containing 900 German Jews seemed like a Godsend to him.

What happened? The vast majority took one look at the Dominican Republic and chose to return to Europe and take their chances with Hitler rather than facing the possibility of miscegenating with the Dominicans even the most light-skinned among them.

Had the United States gone ahead and annexed the Americas, the American leaders at the time could have kept Whites at the top of the caste system and controlled intrastate migration.

Most of the peons who made their way up here through our open borders, encouraged by the Reagan amnesty and the many, many successive backdoor amnesties, would have had to stay home, even as tenant farmers on large plantations or labored in any version of the Maquilladora factories of the time.

There are limitless advantages to ANY situation if YOU are in control. These racist isolationists overlooked that fact, never in their wildest dreams envisioning what we see now.

  2. Leftist crap. Why having only Whites as your population (or if you have the of colors they need to devote everything to adopt so-called Whiteness or be cast out), which is rational thinking, but why is that rationale treated as some kind of pathos like xenophobia? One question amongst many, if Americans were xenophobic why is a majority of our states named after American indian shit (with the irony that lefists want to rename all this “native” American stuff currently). Early Americans were far far far more humble.
