Donald Trump: The SPLC Funded Charlottesville “To Make Me Look Bad”

Unite the Right wasn’t about Donald Trump.

It was about the Confederate monuments in Lee Park.

As ill conceived as it was, Charlottesville was the only notable event that happened over the course of a decade on the Right that WASN’T about Donald Trump and his cult of personality. Six months into his first term, the Alt-Right was already disillusioned with him and was looking for something else to do.

MAGA is Donald Trump. It is his cult of personality. Rightwing politics in America is whatever he is ranting about on Truth Social at 2 AM. It can be the need for a White House Ballroom. It can be a rant against Bruce Springsteen, the Pope or Robert Mueller. It can be declaring “we’ve won” in Iran. The cult of personality isn’t attached to any principle or policy outcome. The Right assumes Charlottesville must have been about Trump because these people are conditioned not to care about anything else.

If Donald Trump announced he was supporting abortion, gun control or amnesty for illegal aliens, MAGA would renounce all of their former talking points and adopt new ones. High gas prices are good for American oil companies now. War with Iran is good now. Lindsey Graham is MAGA now. The truth also doesn’t matter now. In their alternative reality of fake news and conspiracy slop, it has been established everyone who went to Charlottesville got paid to do so and got rich from it.
