That Council isn’t considered “kosher” even by the Papacy. Anyone who says that Christ condemned anyone following their traditions and ways of their fathers as going to hell is speaking falsely. Jesus himself was a rabbi and follower of the traditions and ways of his fathers.
What is being referenced is the apostolic books, specifically by Paul, which announced that following one’s traditions and ancestors is the way to salvation was false.. Following the ancestral road as a means to salvation ultimately leads to condemnation because we all fail such standards and thereby will be condemned by the same traditions and ancestors. Essentially all fail in following such piety.

American Christians, are the most Biblically literate national group in the world, by far.
That being said, the country is full of non Americans now, especially Hispanics who traditionally are Biblically illiterate.
As the number of Catholics increases due to immigration, the proportion of Biblically literate people in the county decreases. That’s not considering all Ellis Island Rif Raf that came before or the other third worlders that have come since either.
