President Trump: U.S. Will Stay In Syria To Protect Israel

“U.S. President Donald Trump said the United States would retain influence in Syria in order to protect Israel, even as U.S. troops are withdrawn.

“We’re going to be there and we’re going to be staying– We have to protect Israel,” Trump told Margaret Brennan on CBS’s “Face The Nation” on Sunday when asked about a timetable for the withdrawal of 2,000 troops. “We have to protect other things that we have. But we’re- yeah, they’ll be coming back in a matter of time.” …”

“President Donald Trump said the US military would continue to protect Israel, but vowed to push ahead with a controversial troop withdrawal from Syria, in an interview aired Sunday.

Trump announced in December that he was withdrawing American troops from Syria, sparking worries that the move could leave Israeli and Kurdish allies in the lurch and open the way for Iran, Turkey and Russia to expand their influence in the war-torn country. …

Trump told CBS’s Face the Nation the 2,000 US troops in the country to assist local forces would leave “in a matter of time,” and cited the need to “protect Israel and other things that we have” for slowing down — after initially announcing an immediate pull-out. …

“We spent a fortune on building this incredible base. We might as well keep it. And one of the reasons I want to keep it is because I want to be looking a little bit at Iran because Iran is a real problem,” he said.

“All I want to do is be able to watch. We have an unbelievable and expensive military base built in Iraq. It’s perfectly situated for looking at all over different parts of the troubled Middle East rather than pulling up,” he said. …

I think we are done here.

I’m not exaggerating when I say the GOP does virtually nothing these days except accuse the Democrats of being racists and favors for their Jewish donors:

“The Senate has decided to break from President Trump and his plans to pull out of Syria and Afghanistan — voting Monday in favor of a non-binding amendment to stay.

Senators reportedly sided with Republican Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, who sponsored the amendment, and voted 70-26 in favor of keeping US forces in both countries.

The Kentucky lawmaker believes ISIS and al Qaeda militants should still be considered a threat, and he’s worried that “a precipitous withdrawal” may only bolster their efforts. …”

Meanwhile, lots of people who used to back Trump are turning to Tulsi Gabbard in disgust because it has been all Israel all the time in the Republican Party:
