It’s true that the National Conservatism conference has been attacked by the Dissident Right as a lame attempt to rebrand mainstream conservatism.
“The claim that a conference whose organizers include Jews was in any way anti-Semitic is absurd. The conference committee included myself, an Orthodox Jew, and Ofir Haivry. Our Herzl Institute in Jerusalem was a co-sponsor, so Kawczynski and the other participants all spoke in front of an Israeli logo (among others) featuring a Star of David and Hebrew text.
The claim of homophobia is equally absurd. The conference was addressed by several well-known gay men. …
The claim that this was about racism, anti-Semitism and homophobia has no relation to reality. It is another attempt at PC cancel-culture intimidation.
Nor will we apologize for inviting controversial figures. The Edmund Burke Foundation has itself been bitterly attacked by white racialists and anti-Semites. Why? For excluding them and their views from our events. In Rome we pursued the same policies.”
The conference was organized by Yoram Hazony who is an Israeli who runs the Herzl Institute in Jerusalem. As he himself explains, Jews, homosexuals and mainstream conservatives are welcome at the National Conservatism conference and the nationalists who have been stigmatized as “racists” and “anti-Semites” by mainstream conservatism were banned. The whole thing swiftly devolved into accusations of anti-Semitism and one of the conservative speakers crumbled under the pressure and was forced by the Tories to apologize for attending.
In our view, this proves that National Conservatism is useless. It hasn’t had any practical application in the Trump administration. It is a LARP for conservatives. There is zero difference between mainstream conservatism and National Conservatism. Finally, it is ultimately about nothing but trying to create a Trojan Horse version of “nationalism” that is Made in Israel and can be sold to the masses and policed by conservative elites for anti-Semitism.
