Reopeners Get Their Wish

The ongoing catastrophe that the United States is now experiencing is the direct result of the “economic team” in the Trump White House getting their way in February:

TIMELINE

April 2 – Gov. Bill Lee issues “stay-at-home” order in Tennessee. Gov. Greg Abbott’s “stay-at-home” order goes into effect in Texas.

April 3 – Gov. Brian Kemp’s “stay-at-home” order goes into effect in Georgia.

April 24 – Georgia begins to reopen.

May 1 – Tennessee’s “stay-at-home” order expires and reopening begins. Texas’s “stay-at-home” order expires and reopening begins.

In February, the “economic team” and “public health” team were fiercely at odds about how to respond to the threat posed by the coronavirus. The “economic team” led by Steve Mnuchin shot down the idea of suspending international flights from Europe. It would have “spooked the markets.” Trump listened to both sides and after consulting with his donors made the call to “ride it out.”

The problem here is that it was always a fantasy that the virus was “just the flu” and that the public would be willing to just “ride it out.” The lockdowns that were imposed in March followed the change in public behavior rather than the other way around. California was the first state to go into lockdown on March 19. Americans were already changing their behavior before then. Now that several states have reopened, only a minority of the public has resumed their normal lives as the polling said would happen all along, which illustrates the absurdity of trying to elevate the economy above public health in the first place.

Ramzpaul gets to pose as John Galt though in empty restaurants and shopping malls. As a result of this kind of thinking, the United States and Britain have the highest death toll in the world while other countries like Australia and New Zealand are restarting their economies without the virus. Reopening the economies of the states without suppressing the virus will only drag this out while other countries that have suppressed the virus form new relationships.

Note: This is so obvious that even the U.S. Chamber of Commerce is worried about it.

  1. So Korea is having to shut down , again.
After 35 cases from bars & nightclubs.
They are quick, to arrest the outbreak.

I don’t think anyone can fully open, until the virus is extinguished, globally. Until then, mitigation measures will prevail.

    • Every state should shut its borders except to food, medicine other essential deliveries. If that does not contain the virus; i.e., if there are not less cases in every state, after a few weeks or so, then every county, city, neighborhood should close their borders.

  2. Here’s a paradox.

Reopening may do more harm to businesses than the lockdown.

Much of business cost is fixed, rent, staff , utilities , insurance etc. If they don’t have enough income to cover those costs they will be digging themselves into a deeper financial pit.

  3. I think it’s rather premature to declare victory for the rest of the world so soon. Rather like Dubya standing on that carrier with the “mission accomplished” sign, with 15+ years of war left on the horizon.

  4. Widespread mask wearing and contact tracing with mandated quarantine for those exposed would allow a reasonably safe economic reopening. Border control and an end to bringing in foreign workers is also needed.

None of these things are happening. Tests are being ignored and masks aren’t being produced in sufficient numbers.

The Trump white House tests every day and is now insisting on everyone else wear a mask all the time. That is for the important people. The peasants don’t get that option.

  5. I was initially for a temporary shutdown because of the draconian warnings that government-academic models had put forth – that millions would be killed.

That said, I never was in favour of a shutdown until there is a vaccine, because not only do vaccines contain deleterious substances, they cannot be effective for the Covid Family.

By mid March, as it was clear that this virus was not going to kill millions in the coming months, nor, even, hundreds of thousands, I began to think that we were overeacting and causing a lot more pain than was necessary.

Those people born a century ago worked through Polio, Scarlet Fever, the Grippe, and a host of other maladies and never shut down.

You can’t shut down, and stay that way, because people need to eat.

    • “By mid March, as it was clear that this virus was not going to kill millions in the coming months, nor, even, hundreds of thousands….”:

By mid March it was clear, and now it still is clear that the virus WILL kill millions in the coming months. Sweep away the fog of disinformation and it becomes clear.

      • @Anonymous…

I respect your right to think it, but, as of yet, I see no signs to make me believe that all these millions of deaths will be caused.

That said, Sir, we cannot stay shut down until the virus goes away, because go away they don’t.

  6. I salute the men of The Michigan Militia.

They have demonstrated that there still are White Men with balls around – whether I agree with the flags they wave or all their idealogical points is beside the point.

    • How about simpletons, or as Washington would have called them “simps”.

Washington even took the radical step of having the colonial army vaccinated for smallpox.

    • Balls for what? Standing there looking like tuff guyz with guns they’ll never use. Protesting for their right to go to the damn barbershop….but you won’t get them to protest a peep about their own people becoming minorities and third class citizens in the country their ancestors built.

  7. The US never had a plan from the beginning. Still don’t have a plan. Sadly we’re all along for the ride. It’s really the end result of having someone like Trump in the White House….no leadership. Deo Vindice !

    • @Brian Pace…

But, Brian, I thought the whole idea of this country was for everyone to make their own plan and keep the government out of it?

  8. RamzPaul gets to say “I told you so” before another 80,000 or more people die and America has to shut down again.

What a timeline to live in

  9. “it was always a fantasy that (…) the public would be willing to just ‘ride it out.’ The lockdowns that were imposed in March followed the change in public behavior rather than the other way around (…) Now that several states have reopened, only a minority of the public has resumed their normal lives”:

Not necessarily a fantasy. It could be reality, with enough disinformation. If the remainder of the public is lied to sufficiently, they will also resume going into restaurants, sports stadiums, dance halls, hair salons and shopping malls while the pandemic continues to spread.

    • The public baulked at endangering themselves and didn’t show up to work or as consumers so the government jumped out rubber stamp the decision of the crowds.

  10. I can’t believe you guys are THIS uninformed !!!! Damn. THE VIRUS IS BARELY WORSE THAN THE FLU BUT TWICE AS CONTAGIOUS. GET 8 HOURS SLEEP, WORK OUT, TAKE VITAMINS D3 C AND ZINC AND GET OUT AND LIVE. THE DEEP STATE SET IT UP WHERE MEDICAL ESTABLISHMENTS GET 6000 FOR CODING ANYTHING COVID19 AND 39000 FOR PUTTING THEM ON A RESPIRATOR AND MORE FOR DOING MORE … SO THEY CUT STAFF AND REFUSED SOME STUFF AND CODED EVERYTHING COVID19. SO … THE DEEP STATE CAN SAY “LOOK AT ALL THE CASES AND DEATHS.” IT’S 95 % TOTAL BS. YOU’RE SUPPOSED TO BE A NEWS OUTLET. (((THEY))) WANT TO FORCE A VACCINE WITH PATENT # 2020060606 WITH NANO TECH THAT CHANGES YOUR DNA AND TRACKS YOU. THIS ALL BS !!!!!

  11. Sat evening the supervisor ,at my part time job with a big box home improvement chain, announces one of our co workers tested Covid positive. They refused to announce which employee, where their work area was, or the time frame of their becoming ill (and to my knowledge no effort has been made to alert the public) I left , perturbed………….By Mon morning my 65 yr old Father in Law is on quarantine, with flu like symptoms, until test results return………………Now I,
m thinking I’m the asshole that’s spreading it around.

  12. Well, let’s wish them luck in avoiding illness. More power to them if they do. But if they end up deathly ill, they will all doubt their sanity and wish they had made a different decision. I would think they’d also regret if they spread it to relatives. I sincerely it doesn’t happen to these people. Some of these people may die, having swallowed the delusion of their invincibility and invulnerability (the basis of their so-called “ideology”)

  13. ” I would think they’d also regret if they spread it to relatives”

Be nice, if their concern reached a little farther.

  14. In other news…

The South West African nation of Namibia is still shut down and has kept it s borders closed after get this….

16 deaths or is it 16 cases of the CORONA virus Kung Flu !

    16

That s in the entire country of Namibia!

More White Americans die of boredom from attending White cuckservatives church services!

“ whom the Gods would destroy they would first make mad”

    J Ryan
    Trapped in Africa
In Joseph Conrad s Heart of darkness
Or is it a world of madness and stupidity

    • Namibia death tolls are not to be believed.
A very poor and backward country, wi poor infrastructure.
That their numbers are realistic, is A joke.

  15. “The lockdowns that were imposed in March followed the change in public behavior rather than the other way around.”

Thank you. I keep pointing this out elsewhere and get nowhere. The flu truthers are going to have to invent a new boogeyman to explain why everything didn’t go back to wonderful once the governmental mandates get lifted.

  16. When you look at this pandemic from the perspective of Jews feeling a moral imperative that white gentiles not be saved from disaster, it explains the policy of the US-regime/Kushner administration perfectly.

    • At this point, Kushner/Trump would be guaranteed to lose in November if the Demoncrats had anyone with a semblance of competency and statesmanship. They may be guaranteed to lose, anyway.
