In his recent interview with Voice of Reason, Robert Lindsay has some fascinating comments about the mindset of Disingenuous White Liberals.
DWLs are not stupid or misinformed. They know that race exists. They know that racial differences are intractable because even they believe that heredity is the likely culprit. This is why these people are seemingly so impervious to rational arguments.
How do we explain the insanity of anti-racism then?
As Lindsay explains to Stark, it has a lot to do with the need to not be perceived as a Southerner, especially a low class White Southerner like a Scots-Irish redneck or a hillbilly who is prejudiced against blacks. Those people are “backward” and “ignorant.” They are not good liberals and enlightened progressives like us.
See, it is part of their ethnic identity: for many of these “Disingenuous White Liberals,” the essence of being a Yankee is not being a Southerner, which means not being a racist or a religious conservative. The White Southerner is “the Other.” We are their out-group. We are they to them.
Admitting that the South is right about the Black Undertow is not an argument that can be rationally weighed on its own merits. On the contrary, it is an existential challenge to the very core being of Yankeedom.
If the Southern redneck is smarter than the Harvard professor, what does that say about Yankee culture? If the South was right about African-Americans, what does that say about the last 150 years of American history? What does that say about the War Between the States and Reconstruction and the Civil Rights Movement?
How else can we explain the existence of Detroit and Philadelphia? The Whites who live in Michigan and Pennsylvania must be suffering from some kind of mass delusion – a delusional and idolatrous belief in equality – to tolerate the destruction of their own civilization by African barbarism.
The whites who live in Pennsylvania and Michigan do not by and large live in the ghettoes of Philadelphia and Detroit. Michigan and Pennsylvania can easily be described as swing states with a lot of blue collar Reagan Democrats and are definitely more conservative than California, New York, and New England. I think Obama is in serious trouble when it comes to re-election in 2012.
My question is how can whites live completely surrounded by masses of niggers wherever they turn in the humid, fetid, and pestilential climate of the South? It’s just not a right way for a white man to live.
(1) I would rather live around masses of niggers than among liberal Yankees and the suffocating conformism of their insane anti-racist culture. Southerners imagine the North as being a place where Whites actually believe in political correctness and liberalism.
(2) I suppose we are accustomed to the weather. The only bad time of the year in the South is the summer which has been mitigated by air conditioning.
(3) How can anyone live in the North with its bleak and cold climate? I can’t imagine what it must be like to have to dig yourself out of the snow. It rarely snows in Alabama. We have great fall and spring weather and mild winters.

Truthfully most of the US has a bad climate. The South is too hot in the summer and too cold in the winter. I haven't lived in the Northeast or Midwest, but it's only a matter of the portion of too hot/too cold. Only coastal California has good year-round weather; south Florida is great eight months of the year, bearable the other four.
Non- or anti-racism is at least as much a status marker separating upper middle-class whites from working-class whites in the Northeast and Midwest, but Lindsay wouldn't be familiar with that, apparently living in California his whole life.

Detroit has sweltering, Africa-like summers, and Arctic winters with snowfall that averages in the double-digits. The worst of both worlds. And of course, it goes without saying, that there is a nigger problem here. My observation is that the white people here are in a weird condition.. They rightly despise blacks, and the resentment and rage towered them is palpable, but whites here just bottle it up. It’s like they’re just too numb anymore.. I dunno, oppressed peoples have collectively snapped before, as history illustrates, but my fellow Foundry-mutts seem like they’ve resigned themselves to oblivion. Maybe it’s because of our ethnic admixture — we were bred from everyone, so in essence, we’re no one. Northern and rural Michigan isn’t as catatonic, but folks out there are very indifferent to anything that goes on outside of sphere of their families and local communities. So I don’t how it’s going to play out. For certain, the present order is unnatural and inherently unsustainable, but the necessary will to bring it down, just feels missing.
As far as 2012 goes, I could see Michigan going for Romney in such a match-up, but anyone else, it ends up in Obama’s column.
Let us not forget that many DWLs are Jewish and that many left-wing organizations such as the SPLC are financed and/or run by Jews.
Of course the Jews are very supportive of the present system. The polls show that African-Americans are the most supportive. We kind of take that for granted around here.
The real mystery is why Whites are supportive of the present system. In some areas, there is a sense of resignation to the status quo. In other areas, Whites seem to really believe in the system and even look forward to pushing it forward to new extremes.
In California, over 50 percent of Whites voted for Obama in 2008. The state has become a bankrupt and declining Third World cesspool, but the Whites who remain there (many others have voted with their feet) put Jerry Brown in power who recently signed the California DREAM Act. Especially when the specters of Detroit and Los Angeles are in their midst.
In states like Alabama and Mississippi, 10 to 12 percent of the White population voted for Obama. We don’t understand why states like Michigan and California simply can’t stop themselves from voting for militantly anti-racist Democrats.
It is hard to say that Whites are victims when the White majority in many of the Blue States votes for the likes of Barack Hussein Obama and Eric “My People” Holder.

The Southern & Appalachian Ulster-Scots are the “BAD” whites. All the others are “good whites.” Especially “conservatives.” They are more DWL than the DWLs. Whites are supportive of the present system because if you step outside the boundaries of acceptable discourse you are drummed out of polite company and can lose your job.
Look at academia. The strictest arena of discourse in the country.

A Northeast “liberal” is a whole different animal from the Southern-Appalachian liberal. The Northeasterner can NEVER really anticipate the motivational psychological structure of the southerner or appalachian.

It is disturbing that your neighbor feels compelled to invite you over for dinner to mind your business. As much as we argue sometimes here among ourselves, we don’t ever really get morally self righteous, even when discussing polarizing topics like Reconstruction.

I can appreciate that. What I’m asking YOU is why some kind of revolt is more likely now that Whites near minority status as when they were comfortably in the majority. Because they were comfortable? Essentially, the descendants of southern and eastern Europeans and Irish Catholics still stand against the WASP founding American. The exception is a state like Louisiana whose Catholic population is large and influential but of different ethnic origin.

Snow and winter help us Northerners (especially Pious Scandics) to know our own mortality. A way to look at it is to read a couple of books: for children Lois Lenski’s “Dakota Girl” and for adults “No place to go but stay.” (don’t remember the author)
Winter with snow enables you to RELISH (absolutely relish) twentieth-century inventions like the furnace, insulation, and thermopane windows. It also could NEVER be Christmas without at least a foot of snow. I know- I tried denying that part of my genetic memory by living in So Cal. Every December, I got depressed, BECAUSE it wasn’t ‘right’ NOT to have snow. I’m much better now. And snow blowers make ‘shoveling’ something even an old fogey can do, and feel like he’s REALLY accomplished something. Besides, it also halts the consumerist drone culture after a snow storm… and keeps the Somali Bastards off the streets for a few days. And, of course, it makes the whole world WHITE… for a while! Seriously, as someone who comes from a white Catholic background I can tell you that there is little love for Obama and his race amongst my co-religionists and I can almost guarantee that in the northeastern part of the USA, Obama did better with white Protestants than he did with white Catholics.
