Cahawba, the first permanent state capital of Alabama, is a ghost town located about 12 miles southwest of Selma in Dallas County (AL). The Cahawba site near the confluence of the Alabama and Cahaba Rivers was abandoned around 1900 for various reasons and has since reverted to the wilderness.
In the comments, I keep getting asked questions about what I would do with the black population in Alabama in an independent Dixie, and it occurs to me that my solution would probably just be cutting off the financial lifelines that artificially sustain places like Birmingham, Selma, and Tuskegee and allow those cities to find their own equilibrium between the capacities of their residents and the natural environment.
I would allow Birmingham, Selma, and Tuskegee to depopulate and “democratically” revert to the wilderness like Cahawba – Detroit is inexorably undergoing the same rewilding process – rather than sustain these zombie cities indefinitely on life support with neverending infusions of cash that are confiscated from White taxpayers elsewhere and misallocated there to sustain the illusion of economic viability.
In an independent South, Birmingham, Selma, and Tuskegee would be designated as “freedom zones” where the black population would be allowed to keep their voting rights and control the local government, but under the new system they would be expected to stand on their own two feet and generate the economy and tax base necessary to sustain their own public institutions.
In the new system, there would be no affirmative action, no welfare state (Section 8, Medicaid, Medicare, TANF, Obamaphone, Obamacare, EBT card, free lunches, free public schools, etc), no racial set asides, no federal civil rights laws, no “disparate impact” standard, no EEOC, no Civil Rights Division of the Justice Department, etc. Instead, there would be complete freedom in a Southern Union, which includes freedom of association and the freedom to fail in life.
Black Run America (BRA) would be put to a swift end in the Republic of Dixie. The world would cease to revolve around black people and their myriad problems. We would no longer run every single institution in our society as a charity for the purpose of uplifting one chronically dysfunctional racial group.
Schools would revert to educating the young. Hospitals would revert to healing the sick. Courtrooms would revert to delivering justice. Police and Fire Departments would revert to their original public safety roles. Banks would revert to accepting deposits and providing credit. Businesses would revert to making money, providing useful goods and services, and creating jobs for the public.
It wouldn’t be necessary as some people imagine to violently round up African-Americans, detain them in concentration camps, and deport them to some distant location. It wouldn’t even be necessary to restore the Jim Crow laws. Finally, it is ludicrous to suggest that slavery would be restored in an independent South, which would have naturally faded out a century ago anyway.
After 50 years of Black Run America, black people could never accept the return of a normal society. If that system ever died in the South but survived in the North and West, there would be an even greater mass exodus than the Great Migration to the Northern states, which would respond to secession (and the departure of Southern “obstructionists”) by creating an even more comprehensive welfare state with higher taxes and even more civil rights, environmental laws, and labor laws.
America would bifurcate into the Northern paradise and the Sunbelt-based Confederacy on every conceivable issue. Liberalism would dominate public policy in America. Conservatism would dominate public policy in Dixie. African-Americans, who are the most liberal ethnic group in the country, would choose to vote with their feet and cast their lot with the Northern paradise.
Without the Great Society welfare state, Birmingham, Selma, and Tuskegee would gradually revert to the wilderness like Cawhaba or their demographics would shift after the magnets are removed and Whites would recapture the majority and control of public policy in those cities.
Without harassment from meddlesome Washington bureaucrats, Southern state legislatures, county commissions, and city councils would have long ago moved on with what they really care about – economic development, not “civil rights” – and competition between them would ensure jettisoning the “civil rights” agenda in favor of preserving high property value, quality public schools, safe neighborhoods, and the prosperity and tax revenue that is derived from maintaining those conditions.
In the distant future, I can see Birmingham, Selma, and Tuskegee decaying into ghost towns like Cawhaba, and the new Southern federal government turning their ruins into national parks. Just as tourists now visit the ancient ruins of Rome and Pompeii, future generations will be able to tour the marooned skyscrapers of Birmingham and the rewilded landscape of Selma and marvel at what was allowed to happen to those ancient cities after they fell to MLK and the Civil Rights Movement.
The civic obituary in the year 3013 will explain that the American ideology of freedom, equality, and democracy was realized and taken to its logical conclusion here and elsewhere – these cities were turned over to African-Americans in the name of something called “civil rights,” who lacked the capacity to sustain their inheritance from a more advanced civilization, and these cities were finally deserted and left to decay as symbols of what happens when reality is subordinated to abstract ideologies.
The sad thing is, in such a “reversion,” many of the whites who were hurt the most (the more creative whites, who never took from the “system,”) would also, AGAIN, have to carry the burden. While the Northeast types (who fed pretty on the government- (citizens-appropriated) funds of the system they instituted would be “well positioned” to “take the hits.”
Besides which, they were only in the country for the money (not the land, where they could grow things, as the other people still enacting the Southern Agricultural Ideal, and who benefited from making their own opportunities by genuine freedom out in the wilds)—- AND so, those “positioned to take the hit” (with what they hoarded from the affirmative action, often as people who “administer it” or as “paycheck republicans”) will just “take the money and run,” back to their “home countries,” or use it to continue degrading the americans.
Riot squads with rubber bullets, armoires cars with watercannon and I might suggest urban areas hooked up with CCTV. After the blacks are chastened for a few years the remnants will fall in line.
Then the police can be de militarized.

I agree 100%, it’s really that easy. Honestly, we don’t even need to end ALL of the welfare programs (as much as I would like to) just stop subsidizing children, stop paying welfare per child, give them X for the first child and nothing more.

The three largest cities in Alabama (Birmingham, Montgomery and Mobile) are all majority black. Should white Alabamians simply abandon these important urban areas? I don’t think so. Their ancestors worked too hard building them up from nothing to let them revert to wilderness, à la Cahawba.
Towns like Selma and Tuskegee are too small and insignificant to care about one way or another. Let them–through continuing black rule–go the Cahawba route. But big cities like Birmingham and Mobile can be reclaimed for white rule overnight through city-county consolidation. Unfortunately, Montgomery County is also majority black so consolidation would solve nothing in its case.
There’s a good argument to be made that suburban whites shouldn’t have to rescue urban blacks from their own incompetence. But I would counter that argument with the fact that black-majority cities eventually infect their surrounding white-majority metro areas and even their entire states with social and economic stagnation.
Large black-majority cities like Detroit, Baltimore, Birmingham, Memphis, New Orleans, Cleveland and Richmond VA are notable for low wages and investment, high unemployment and crime rates, general urban blight and governmental corruption and incompetence, and this stagnation has spread to their larger metro areas, all of which lag the national average in job creation and population growth.
Two cities belie this trend for various reasons, Atlanta and Washington DC. But both are being reclaimed via white gentrification and neither will be black-majority by the next census in 2020. Apart from these outliers the lesson is clear: having a black majority in the central city has a detrimental effect on the entire metro area, no matter how white the suburbs are.
Now let’s look at three Southern cities that have consolidated with their counties: Nashville is 56.3% white and 28.4% black, Jacksonville is 55.1% white and 30.7% black, and Louisville is 71.7% white and 22.2% black. The blacks who dominate the central parts of these cities will *never* become majorities in the cities as a whole because of the large suburban white populations within the same incorporated city-counties.
And the whites in the outer ring of these cities tend to be more conservative than the inner city whites, so these city-counties will definitely trend more conservative than old-style cities, and as a result will tend to have more honest and competent governments. And their larger metro areas, unlike the metros of the 7 black-majority cities I named above, are doing well at attracting people and creating jobs. White-majority cities make for better overall metro areas.
These are real-world examples of successful white-majority city-county consolidations versus black-majority old-style cities. And their success has spread to their entire metro areas, unlike the stagnating metros surrounding the black-majority cities. So while you may have given up on Selma and Tuskegee, don’t be so quick to throw an important city like Birmingham under the bus. There is another way forward.
1.) White Alabamians have already abandoned Birmingham (which was rebuilt in suburban Jefferson County and Shelby County), Montgomery (which was rebuilt in suburban Montgomery County and Autauga and Elmore Counties) and Mobile (which was rebuilt in suburban Mobile County and Baldwin County).
2.) The only reason those cities were abandoned is because of the existence of the Union and the series of Supreme Court decisions and federal civil rights laws passed by Congress and imposed by force that made life intolerable for White families in those areas.
3.) The Whites in Selma abandoned the city for Valley Grande and Montgomery. The Whites in Tuskegee fled to Auburn-Opelika.
4.) The Whites in suburban Birmingham, Montgomery, and Mobile already share a common government – Jefferson County, Montgomery County, and Mobile County – with the blacks who live in those cities.
5.) Been there, done that.
The Whites in Over the Mountain and North Fulton once shared a common municipal government with Birmingham and Atlanta before they started to incorporate as their own cities.
6.) Mountain Brook, Trussville, and Vestavia Hills are significantly wealthier than the national average. The same is true of Sandy Springs, Dunwoody, and Johns Creek in North Fulton.
If you lump those cities and their school districts in with the dysfunctional blacks in Birmingham and Atlanta, then sure it looks like they lag the national average, but that is really nothing more than a statistical illusion created by your use of categories.
How would lumping the North Fulton suburbs or the Over the Mountain suburbs in with Birmingham and Atlanta do anything to change the overall job growth picture in those areas?
7.) Lumping the Whites in Vestavia Hills School District in with the blacks Birmingham City Schools would have a seriously detrimental effect on the new average academic performance of the combined school district.
8.) Davidson County, TN is 66.2% White. Duval County, FL is 62.8% White. Jefferson County, AL is 54.7% White.
9.) The only thing that would happen if the governments of Birmingham and Jefferson County were consolidated would be that the Whites in Over the Mountain would have one have dysfunctional government that recently filed for the largest municipal bankruptcy in American history instead of Jefferson County and their independent school districts and municipal governments which are functioning well.
The people like David Sher who are pushing this nonsense simply want to get their hands on the tax revenues that were lost to them when the Birmingham suburbs incorporated. They also want to be lumped in with the Over the Mountain suburbs so that the crime, low property value, unemployment rate, test scores and other indices of civic failure in Birmingham don’t look as bad.
BTW, if you turned off the magnets like food stamps and public housing that attracted millions of blacks to Birmingham and Atlanta, they wouldn’t be able to sustain themselves there and would be forced by necessity to leave.
In Atlanta, the housing projects were torn down in the 1990s and the blacks were pushed into Clayton County, which is why the demographics in Atlanta have been swinging back toward Whites in recent years.

You don’t want the worst to have even one child. Keep the obvious failures (illiterates, criminals, addicts) on birth control until they either straighten themselves out or volunteer for sterilization (such as to qualify for parole, or to receive a cash bonus). It’s simpler than that. All it would take to fix the race problem in America would be the restoration of the right to free association on private property. Once restrictive covenant is restored, segregation de facto will become segregationde jure. No more section 8, no more blockbusting! Give white property-owning neighbors the ability to sign a legal covenant binding them to sell their property only to whites, and the urban crime problem simply goes away. Imagine a world where kids can roam the neighborhood until the streetlights come on, where one can walk to a store for a Coke or a cigar without seeing a Negro face, where one can sleep at night knowing that no car full of black faces and thumping jungle music is going to cruise slowly down one’s block at 3:30 a.m.

Prices of goods and services will drop as the cost of securing one’s stock and premises from the Negro drops to zero. Taxes will drop as police find the robbery, burglary, and vandalism rates bottom out.
The restoration of the right of free association on private property will benefit blacks, too. Property-owning Negro neighbors will share in the ability to create restrictive covenants to keep out whomever they wish. The restoration of “white only” lunch counters and department stores will enable canny Negro businessmen to start their own restaurants and shops for the Negroes in each city. Black business districts will reappear, districts kept crime-free by Negro business owners intent on protecting their private property.
Members of other races will benefit similarly.
Public property such as courthouses, parks, public schools, and municipal venues of all kinds will remain integrated. This is only fair: taxpayer-funded institutions should be open to all those who pay taxes. But given a world of safe, segregated ethnic neighborhoods, crime-free, segregated business districts, and an utter lack of government-enforced diversity upon anyone’s private property, I think that any racial tensions that might occur at the courthouses or ballparks will be of a scale that can be managed without trouble.
Just give people back the right to do what they want with their own property — it really is just that simple.

Just the South? I think you mis-apprehend where “sundown cities” once were… and would be again.
The city in which I was born is too liberal to die of embarrassment before considering the idea, but the place I last lived (in the path of the Black Undertow) would likely throw up those signs in a New York minute to keep the plague from engulfing the places to which they fled from its last incarnation. They’d be right to do so.

What the government intends on doing is disrupting the south, so balance and wisdom is consumed with confusion and apathy(media driven) in the form of new arrivals. How much time does the south have to get your plans or any other pro-southern White plan under way?

As a Bugster I will chime in and state the reason why the Cahawba solution would work is that it denies anti-whites the moral high ground and it is imperative that we occupy the moral high ground uncontested and not endorse any solution that can be paint us as naziswhowanttokillsixmillionjews.
If Blacks riot in white areas we mobilise the riot police and put a stop to it. If blacks riot in their areas we leave them to it as it would be up to black areas to police their own. When they realise that rioting no longer brings free stuff but only greater hardship they will soon get the message.
As long as you stay on point about freedom of association and self-determination as the solution, it will be anti-whites who will be put on the defensive. They will have to justify why they are denying this.

Freedom of Association means the right to intermarry but it also means the right to set up exclusive white neighborhoods, workplaces and self-determination for communities to control their own borders.
Under freedom of association and self-determination forced integration that lead to the conditions of inter-racial marriages will stop and the number of white women you see pushing a mulatto child in a stroller will fall through the roof. Anti-whites need to enforce integration as it goes against the grain of human nature. Given the opportunity whites voluntarily self-segregate from non-whites.
In theory a black man could marry a white woman but in practice the patterns of segregation that will arise from freedom of association would make it a practical impossibility.

The Mexican invasion is overstated.
A 10 minute check of the US census site shows a serious Mexican problem in all of Dixie. The figures below are Hispanic population per Southron state. I think we can assume most are Mexicans or related Central Americans. The Hispanic figure for Florida is 4.4 million, but most of those are probably Cubans. Another assumption I think we can make is that the US census undercounts Mexicans.

Your proposal loses my support with this one claim. Southron nationalism needs to be an alternative to the race-destroying practices of the USA. Freedom of association and being a nice guy must never trump raw survival. A Southron people who are radicalised enough to assert and secure their independence from the occupiers must also be radicalised on the racial question enough to deal with it once and for all.
. . . but in practice the patterns of segregation that will arise from freedom of association would make it a practical impossibility.
