Very good news from Wimbledon England – a beautiful young German woman Sabine Lisicki has upset Serena Williams and has now advanced to the semifinals.

Here’s the video highlights of a very close victory, good to see our German women now joining our successful Russian women in winning at the best women’s sport.

  2. Any genealogists on board? The reason I’m asking is that the name “Lisicki” doesn’t sound like a typical German-ethnic name.

    Could be:

    She’s some other European ethnicity who just happens to live in Deutschland

    She’s a German-ethnic but married to a non-ethnic German, and bears his surname

    Her name is indeed ethnic German

  3. As I thought from her last name, she is of mixed German/Polish ancestry as per the entry on her in Wikipedia:

    “Lisicki’s parents emigrated to West Germany from Poland in 1979; her father, Dr. Richard Lisicki, is of German and Polish descent and her mother, Elisabeth, of Polish. They went to Germany being part of the German minority in Poland (“Spätaussiedler”). She was born in Troisdorf in 1989.”

    Yes. Not only could she beat a man, but she could also pummel a man, and knock his ass to the ground, and make him cry for his uncle. She could absolutely whack him senseless.

    Because…it helps when you look like a man and are built like a man and have the testosterone level of a man.

    She routinely gets beat by superior white women as well and her sister is not even in the top 50 anymore.

    Speaking of specifically Germans, Texas at one point was of majority German descent. Then you have places like Helen, GA, which I’ve been to and I recommend anyone near it go, it’s beautiful and fun. A little slice of Bavaria in the South.

    I don’t know why some of you are hating on Germans, they’re a fundamental part of Americana. They established the first kindergartens, they started the tradition of Christmas trees, they originated hot dogs and hamburgers, what’s more American than that.

    Too late. There is not only a lot of German blood there (much of it from colonial times, when even the Amish founder settled in North Carolina) but also millions and millions of Africans. The Pennsylvania colony was originally intended for Welsh people, but there weren’t enough coming over, so Penn went shopping abroad for German pacifist agrarians.

  48. There is no such thing as genetic ethnicity, only cultural, then? So there are black Germans, black Swedes, and black Irish people who share in the German, Swedish and Irish ethnic cultures, languages, etc. “Blood” is a mere social construct, right?
