In Wisconsin, it is the same old story … federal judges usurping powers from the state legislatures:

MADISON, Wis. (AP) — Same-sex couples began getting married in Wisconsin on Friday shortly after a federal judge struck down the state’s gay marriage ban and despite confusion over the effect of the ruling.

Clerks in Madison and Milwaukee began issuing marriage licenses to same-sex couples shortly after 5 p.m. Friday, a little over an hour after the judge released her ruling. Judges were on hand at both courthouses to perform ceremonies…”

Note: Don’t bother to vote.

There’s no power in the ballot. If our rulers dislike the law, they will just impose their will by executive fiat as in Cap-and-Trade or the DREAM Act, or failing that a federal judge will overturn the will of voters, and if that fails politicians like Rand Paul can always be auctioned off to the highest bidding oligarch like Sheldon Adelson.

    Only 13 federal judges have ever been impeached and out of those 13 only seven were convicted by the Senate which confirmed their appointments in the first place. There is an obvious way to deal with this and we are a long, long way from it at this time.

  3. If popular opinion changes, these judges are going to get reined in. Democracy is a popularity contest; they perceive that gay marriage is popular. Change that opinion and put some fear into them for what they might lose, and they will back down.

  5. Who controls elections in America is not who votes, but who does not.

    Mitt Romney lost the election because one leg of the Republican Reagan triad-the blue collar Rust Belt whites, the Wallace voters-withheld the unction of their ballots. They did not vote for that pile of excrement Obama, but they felt that Romney wasn’t better enough for them to bother with. The South and the business elites turned out for him okay. The Grabowskis did not.

    Whether this was good or bad I leave for you to decide.

    There is no reform without secession.

  7. I seem to recall Iowa voters removing judges that dictated homo marriage equality. Maybe they were state judges.

    How do we remove Fed judges? Only by the US Senate impeaching the judges?

    You might actually see the House GOP move in a discernably righteous direction re immigration and some other issues.

    I am a huge believer in voting, because it takes almost zero effort. It’s like going to get a pizza. One should of course be tempered in one’s expectations of the results, but to throw in the towel is not a good idea.

    GOP primaries offer a great chance to take down evil doers like Cantor, Graham, and McCain; for those special people, it would even be advisable to vote Democrat in the fall just to get them out of there.
