President Trump Nominates New Attorney General and UN Ambassador

Yay!

So, President Trump has nominated George H.W. Bush’s Attorney General to be the next Attorney General:

“President Trump confirmed he will nominate former attorney general William P. Barr to lead the Justice Department again, telling reporters Friday that Barr was “my first choice since day one.”

He also said he would nominate Heather Nauert as U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, saying the State Department spokeswoman, a relative novice on foreign policy, is “very talented, very smart, very quick.”

The moves were expected, though Trump’s comments offered official confirmation.

The Washington Post reported a day earlier that Barr, 68, a well-respected Republican lawyer who served as attorney general from 1991 to 1993 under President George H.W. Bush, had emerged as the leading contender, and Trump told associates he planned to nominate him as attorney general.

In a brief phone conversation Friday, Barr confirmed he had accepted the president’s offer. …

He also picked a pretty blonde from Fox and Friends to be the next UN ambassador:

“President Donald Trump has decided to nominate State Department spokeswoman Heather Nauert to replace departing United Nations Ambassador Nikki Haley, according to three people familiar with the decision.

Nauert, 48, is an unorthodox choice for the UN role given that she had little experience in government or foreign policy before joining the administration in April 2017 after several years as an anchor and correspondent for Fox News, including on the “Fox and Friends” show watched by Trump. …”

Very uninspiring choices.

The Trump era has been filled with these people. I guess anything is better though than Nikki Haley and Jeff Sessions. I agree with Larison’s take on Nauert:

“Nauert isn’t qualified to be U.N. ambassador, but then neither was Haley, and Pompeo wasn’t and isn’t qualified to be Secretary of State. Everyone responsible for guiding U.S. diplomacy under Trump has been and will continue to be unsuited to the jobs to which they have been appointed. The appointment of Nauert just underscores that Trump has no interest in diplomacy or expertise, and he just wants people willing to recite nonsensical talking points.”

Undoubtedly, the only thought that crossed Trump’s mind was that Nauert would look good on television. She isn’t going to make the policies. She will just present the talking points.

  1. Trump isn’t guided by any kind of philosophy, he has no overall, long-term strategy for anything. Just a superficial cardboard cut-out, a Saturday Night Live caricature of himself.

    • At this point, I’m wondering who came up with the “MAGA” agenda for the election campaign. It was too coherent and demographically aware to emerge from the driveling thoughts of Donald Scump.

      • Apparently most of it was put together by Corey Lewandowski and a few others – he also designed the attacks on the GOP, and the plan to hold mass rallies and move away from the Town Hall cuckoldry that so many Republicans enjoy.

Fast forward a year or so, and you had Corey try to pull off a coup against Jared the Jew and Ivanka – unfortunately he failed.

        • If true then Corey is wasting his time trying to save the Republican Party from itself. He should start a new party with the long term goal of replacing them.

    • That’s true at least.

In any case, the UN is a despicable organization, so who cares what kind of ambassador is sent to it?

  2. Will William Barr turn out like the other big GOP choice, Paul Manafort.

Remember, Paul Manafort was brought in by the Republican establishment to give stability to the Trump campaign!

  3. The Bush-Clinton crime families are joined at the hip. There will be no prosecutions of deep state illegalities, but persecutions of WNs under Barr will certainly be in overdrive.

As vile as the UN is, the jewnited states is a laughing stock in the eyes of the other ambassadors. It’s not a secret to the other member states that the jewnited states receives its marching orders from its zio-jewish masters. So basically, israel has two ambassadors to the UN.

  4. As long as the President, whoever that may be, does what the Jews and Corporate Oligarchs want, nothing else matters.

  5. Trump has no friends in Washington which means he must choose second hand and second rate people to staff his administration. What is really sad is that this is probably the best that can be expected this side of civil war.

    • You bring up an excellent point @Arthur. Anyone who associates themself with the Trump Administration will be considered forevermore as toxic as nuclear waste. I think there is real and credible fear of what the Bolshevik Dems are going to dissenters when they regain power.

  6. “Apparently most of it was put together by Corey Lewandowski and a few others”

as trump gets further and further off course, i wonder just how true that might be. bannon, lewandowski, miller, and the writings of coulter, and a few others, who were mainly just reading what sailer, brimelow, and jared taylor had been writing for decades. that seemed to be what made up his 2016 campaign.

MAGA seems too brilliant and coherent for the december 2018 trump to have come up with.

good chance that almost all his good ideas came from serious, dedicated allies between 2015 and 2017, who trump has summarily dismissed over time, even bashing a few and claiming he could have won without them. hell no. not a chance if this is what the real trump is like. what we’ve seen over the last 6 months is probably worse than standard issue GOP operations and campaigns which are now automatic, though polite and respectable, losing bets. current trump is tone deaf, AND rude and annoying, while missing by a mile on the important issues. standard issue GOP men are at least presentable and ‘presidential’.

this current version of trump loses in a landslide in 2020.

  7. We are ruled by a deeply entrenched hostile elite. No amount of third party tom foolery will save us. Its way to late for that. If the Deep states loves you will sail through you presidency as if they did not even exist like Obama did. If you oppose their agenda they appoint special prosecutors and use the courts to negate anything you do and the media to defame. You cannot elect you way out of this because the Deep State is immune to electoral politics. President cone and go but their malevolent reign continues unabated!

  8. I’m tired of the “Well, no one wants to work for him, so he has to call on retreads from the Bush regimes.” There are plenty of good people who wanted the original Trump agenda to succeed, but Trump was too cowardly to ever go near them. Anyone remember the paleocons? Trump should be on the phone with Pat Buchanan every week. Go over to antiwar.com and there are dozens of well accomplished, right-leaning critics of NATO and the American Empire, some who have even served in government or were university professors. I’m over the lame excuses. Trump is just an idiot who never read a book so he has no clue who they are, and he’s too lazy to bother finding out who they are. If he did, he would still probably not touch them, for fear of the Jews–or love of, perhaps.

  9. If he good for the Jews, then of course William P. Barr is the best choice for AG. He probably has a long list of recommendations to his credit – a Grand Worshipful, allegiance to the Synagogue etc. I am sure he will serve the Eye of Sauron and ZOGusa with distinction.
