NY Mag: The New Foreign Flavor of CPAC’s Red Meat

UPDATE: They are actually going with this idea that the CPAC stage is an odal rune.

What exactly is “foreign” about populism?

NY Mag:

“The group that puts on the Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) is called the American Conservative Union, but the first two days of speeches at this year’s CPAC in Orlando suggest the right wing activists who attend the annual conclave have embraced a foreign political ideology.

It’s not that the event wasn’t patriotic. Each day began with the pledge of allegiance and the national anthem and countless speakers professed their love of country. Instead, it marked the further transition of the American right away from its libertarian roots to a more European model of populist politics. Government no longer was the enemy, but instead a tool to combat threats like big tech and “cancel culture.” …”

I’ve watched the speeches at CPAC out of curiosity.

There is nothing “foreign” about any of the following causes: anti-elitism, nationalism, anti-political correctness, republicanism, heritage protection, free speech, pro-gun, immigration restriction, trade protectionism, breaking up corporate monopolies or even White identity celebrated at AFPAC.

What about the wokeness and modernism celebrated by the Democratic Party though? The intellectual roots of wokeness are in critical theory and postmodernism which are definitely foreign. Modernism is also definitely a foreign import. Consider the fact that Democrats want to demolish monuments or rename buildings that honor the memory of Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson and Woodrow Wilson and get rid of the First Amendment, Second Amendment and also the Electoral College.

  1. Leon Trotsky (Lev Davidovich Bronstein) would have been on the side of “cancel culture”, it definitely has more in common with his bad ideas than anything out of Kansas. Foreign indeed. Admittedly, Leon Trotsky (Lev Davidovich Bronstein) had somewhat more vigorous ideas about cancelling merely just shutting down free speech. He deserved the axe in his head he got in Mexico, too.

  2. Sounds like a rhetorical pivot to the center to rope back in the millions of white men that didn’t vote for Trump in 2020. Not an actual policy switch to populism. I’m NEVER voting GOP again.

  3. The view from Iran: PressTV (Iranian news media) says “Trump is re-branding the GOP as the party of the working class.” https://www.presstv.com/Detail/2021/02/27/646212/Trump-to-rebrand-GOP-party-of-working-class-CPAC

“The Republican party is not the party just of the country clubs; the Republican party is the party of steel workers and construction workers, and pipeline workers and taxi cab drivers, and cops and firefighters, and waiters and waitresses, and the men and women with calluses on their hands who are working for this country, Cruz told the rightwing gathering of the Conservative Political Action Conference. That is our party, and these deplorables are here to stay.”

I ask: Will the so-called “deplorables,” hicks and yokels go for the same old bait once again?

  4. I don’t see an odal rune. I see the outline of a harmless rabbit.

Go ahead, tell me that doesn’t look like a fuzzy rabbit!

Nobody sees this kind of hysteria as anything other than quackery. We should have an entire division of white guys in charge of meming stuff like this into the public consciousness just to keep the neroticism of these people on vivid display.

Though, they seem perfectly capable of finding things to sperg about on their own.

Makes you wonder just how much of this type of symbology and subliminal messaging they are engaged in.

    • Correct. He waged war on Germany (about 1/3 of U.S. was of German descent at the time) on false pretense (pressure from the British/Jewish lobby). His intervention was the DIRECT cause of WWII, which was the direct excuse for the dystopian nightmare we live in today and from which our children will suffer. To hell with that POS!

  5. Conservative Inc., as embodied in the walking talking career politicans at CPAC, is counting of the gullibility and short attention span of the average White american to fall for the same old bait and switch in the next and all future election cycles.

As far as the stage being a odal rune, I guess making it a six pointed star of remphan would have been to a little too obvious grifting appeal to the owners, oops meant to say “donors”.
