Senate Parliamentarian Crushes Democrats Amnesty Hopes Again

It is over.

At least for now.

Amnesty is too toxic with Trump’s base for Republicans to come out and support it like in the George W. Bush and Obama era. It would be committing political suicide.

Republicans don’t need to back amnesty to win more “Latinx” voters who respond mainly to appeals about the economy. They are less worried about “The Emerging Democratic Majority.”

Democrats have now tried and failed three times to use budget reconciliation to pass amnesty.

Democrats will never get 60 votes in the Senate to overcome the filibuster to pass amnesty. They barely have 50 votes now. They are likely to lose the House and Senate in 2022.

CNN:

“(CNN) – The Senate parliamentarian on Thursday rejected Democrats’ third attempt to include immigration in President Joe Biden’s economic bill, delivering a major blow to Democrats who have repeatedly sought to include immigration provisions in the Build Back Better bill.

It’s the latest hit to the Biden administration’s immigration agenda and likely marks the end of the road for providing protections to millions of undocumented immigrants through the budget process known as reconciliation, which would not require GOP votes.Senate Parliamentarian Elizabeth MacDonough advises the chamber on how its rules, protocols and precedents should be applied as Democrats and the White House figure out what they can include in the massive spending bill.

In her ruling, MacDonough wrote the third argument for immigration provisions in the economic bill “is not much different in its effect than the previous proposals we have considered.”

I can see how Democrats overcome this obstacle though.

It would take nuking the filibuster which at some point in the future they might be able to do without a Joe Manchin or Krysten Sinema standing in their way. If they had won more Senate seats in 2020, we could be in a vastly different situation right now. Joe Manchin rules Congress.

Note: The Senate is where everything goes to die for both parties.

  1. As in the case of Weimar Germany, the system has swung fake left (Wokeism) to preempt and discredit (immunizing the population against) the true left, and now it requires a steering correction to the right, to destroy any movement toward the left. The history is not repeated exactly, since Germany did not have an immigration problem and was fairly ethnically pure, so I don’t expect another Hitler and Naziism to appear in the U.S., but some other kind of right-wing figurehead leadership that would be appropriate for the homeland of a global empire. Fake leftism (such as Wokeism) is actually an anomaly for the U.S. The history of the U.S. has almost always been business-friendly conservative, and always militant (i.e. imperialism). As Calvin Coolidge famously said, “The business of America is business.” If continued illegal immigration is advantageous (profitable) for business Elites, then illegal immigration will continue in a right-wing administration the same as in a fake left one, and Amnesty will be de facto instead of de jure. Imperialism must also continue. It doesn’t matter who is President or which twin party wins the (s)election.
