CNN: The Trump Era Is Over

I’m not going to bother with post-election analysis.

This wasn’t a close election that swung because of this or that group on the margins. It was a thundering rejection of MAGA that was driven by an enormous swing against Republicans by Independents, Republican defectors voting for Democrats and most of all by alienated Republican voters sitting out the election in disgust at home. Young White men swung Democrat by 28 points.

Yes, the Democratic base was energized and had great turnout, but that doesn’t explain what we saw unfold on Tuesday night. Democrats appears to have won the Mississippi Senate race and nearly won the Louisiana Senate race. Doug Jones came within four points of defeating Tommy Tuberville in the Alabama governor’s race. Angie Nixon, a DSA member, came within three points of winning the Florida Senate race. Republicans nearly lost the Tennessee governor race which was under three points. Trump didn’t just lose a bad midterm election like the Thumping of 2006. He destroyed the Republican coalition.

I’ve been telling you for a year that this was going to happen. Aryan Globalist Bro got his way and Trump blew up those mullahs. The result was the biggest self inflicted political disaster in half a century. Democrats didn’t win an ideological battle. Republicans committed suicide.

  1. Expectations for the Trump era in 2016 were as high as the disappointment with Trump in 2026. The war was certainly a decisive blow.

  2. It wasn’t just Iran, Trump was floundering in the polls since last spring. Iran doused gasoline on an already open fire.

It was data centers, Trump repeatedly insulting the public on AI, tariffs, gunning down nurses in broad day light, open contempt for the young, socialism for the Baby Boomers, Hispanic backlash against ICE, tax cuts for billionaires, austerity for everyone else, Trump’s chaotic slashing of the government like the Kennedy Center melodrama, air traffic controllers, and muh ballroom, the stinking, perverse corruption and grifting in every inch of the administration, and last but not least, the wholesale whoring to Israel. It was a naked display of the reality of the Republican party’s true goals, with meaningless boob bait for bubba like muh South African refugees, and it killed the party. They thought 2024 was a generational mandate. You don’t come back from a blue Texas and using Louisiana as a last stand. It’s over, and they deserve it.

    • Yes, it was a number of things.

The Iran War, gas prices, the spike in inflation and the perceived neglect of issues that people care about in favor of pet projects and foreign interests was the main driver of it. The tariffs and AI data centers also didn’t help.

Without the Iran War and gas prices being over $4 a gallon, it would have still been a bad midterm and another backlash blue wave election, but you wouldn’t have these huge margins in the House and total Republican collapse in states like Texas and South Carolina. It would have been more like the scenario that I was expecting last December. Probably a 7 point blue wave instead of a 14 point tsunami.
