Great Moments In BRA History: Iron Bowl 2010

Tuscaloosa

It was arguably the biggest Iron Bowl that had ever been seen in Alabama … the defending national champion, the Alabama Crimson Tide, was defeated in a smashing comeback victory by the Auburn Tigers.

The Auburn Tigers won the BCS National Championship in Phoenix. It was a magic moment in Alabama when even the Roll Tide chorus was on the side of War Eagle … so long as they were playing the Oregon Duck for the SEC.

After Alabama was defeated in the Iron Bowl, a fanatic poisoned the Toomer’s Oaks in Auburn. The fanatic was condemned by the University of Alabama. Lots of UA students chipped into help clean up in the soil in Auburn.

Earlier this year, Tuscaloosa was hit by Mega Tornado, and Auburn returned the favor by volunteering to help rebuild the devastation in West Alabama. The “bipartisan divide” was mysteriously set aside for a moment.

Then of course everyone started gearing for the 2011 football season. The bragging rights were on the line again. Yet history had showed that everyone could be on the same team.

Such was BRA.

Note: The Florida Gators and Georgia Bulldogs get along better than Republicans and Democrats in Washington. It is just a “cocktail party” after all!
