The Atlantic magazine has an excellent article about Bernie Sanders, an open socialist who was elected and re-elected mayor in Burlington, Vermont. Outside of a few predictable Marxist foreign policy causes like the Sandinistas in Nicaragua, Sanders comes off as a competent, pragmatic guy, who generally liked the mostly White working class people of Burlington.
Bernie Sanders describes his city:
“I used to say there are three parties in this city, the Republicans, the French and the Irish. They alternated holding power. Primarily, the French and Irish were Democrats—the Irish Democrats were more liberal, the French more conservative.”
I take the position that these are the type of demographics where various forms of European style socialism can work and does work – Places where people have a strong sense of community, shared values. European style socialism works best in communities of Europeans or European Americans. The Amish are arguably the most successful socialist community in the history of the United States – the Amish way is not dog eat dog individualism or anything goes capitalism. Home owning grandmothers in the somewhat rough areas of Burlington do not turn out their poor grandchildren to charge high dollar rents to 20 Salvadoran undocumented a room. This is because our people tend not to become terrible slum lords, like the worst Jewish slum lords in Bernie Sanders’s hometown of Brooklyn.
The story includes an exchange between a Burlington grandmother and her son – the grandmother is a strong supporter of Sanders, the son says:
“He’s a communist.”
The grandmother replies in words to the effect:
“He’s a Socialist not a Communist and if you have to ask the difference, you just don’t know the difference.”
I would agree with this grandmother. But, I would just add that since ~ 1965 a Communist in the United States is someone who loathes, hates, despises the European American, White working class – the poor. Read arch cultural marxist Jew Tim Wise as he spreads his venom longing for the day where poor and working class Southern Whites will die out in nursing homes:
“In forty years or so, maybe fewer, there won’t be any more white people around who actually remember that Leave it to Beaver, Father Knows Best, Opie-Taylor-Down-at-the-Fishing Hole corn pone bullshit that you hold so near and dear to your heart.”
Though Bernie Sanders is himself an atheist, Socialist Jew from Brooklyn – Bernie just doesn’t share Tim Wise’s hatred of poor and working class Whites. Bernie has been a solid guy and by all accounts a pragmatic, well liked mayor of Burlington, and the at-large Independent Congressman and then U.S. Senator representing Vermont.
Is he, or someone like this going to be an effective President of the United States – a violent, chaotic, dis-united nation of 300 million plus squabbling tribes and special interest groups?
In a word no.
But, today we at OD honor a decent, honest, successful mayor of Burlington – Bernie showed great kindness to our kind.
Bernie Sanders real name is Bernie Glassberg and he is a New York Jew. After WW2, New York Jews began colonizing in New England and creating their own enclaves there, this increased during the 60’s. These Jews are colonizing everywhere, including places in Dixie.

The confrontation between Sanders and the Black Lives Matter activists was instructive: he’s clearly more of a class conflict leftist who would rather talk about economics, but he won’t stand up to the radical cultural Marxists when he is pressured by them.
Socialism is an economic system where the means of production (capital) is owned by a collective (ie the state). I don’t think this describes Vermont or anywhere in the US. Capital C Communism is socialism just as socialism is socialism. They only vary in degrees. With Communism there is no private property. With Socialism, there are a lot of state owned industries (e.g. utilities) and high taxation (especially on the middle class) but there is private property ownership. Of note, for small c communism, socialism was only to be a transitory economic system that would eventually lead to the elimination of the state.
I would not describe the Amish as socialist. They are a mutual aid society but there is no collective ownership of businesses or property. Their system works very well as there communities are very small (100-300 people) and they are 100% homogeneous (race, ethnicity, language, religion, culture, etc.)
To those who fancy socialism, take notice that the root of socialism, egalitarianism, is the basis for the problems that Whites throughout the world face today. Egalitarianism is an ideology that establishes equality as the highest social good. Therefore, income inequality and wealth disparity are considered to be societal ills. Once this ideology is adopted as an ethic, where does it stop? As it applies both to Europe and the US, it extends beyond a nation’s borders. The relative wealth disparities between White European nations/US and 3rd world countries is used to justify mass immigration. If egalitarianism is good and income inequality is bad, why not open the borders and share the wealth with those who have less? Also, I don’t think it is a coincidence that egalitarian societies like Sweden and much of Western Europe are far more PC than the US and are far more repressive in punishing thought criminals.

Sanders is Jewish, but he doesn’t “seem” Jewish, if you know what I mean. And next to nobody seems to be touting the fact that he would be the first Jewish President, the historical nature of that. One might say that it’s a function of Jews not wanting to be noticed. But there was a LOT of talk about Joe Lieberman’s Jewishness, Al Gore’s running mate.
I hope Sanders does as well as he can in Democrat primaries, because it would prove that it’s possible to do well and not be a donor whore, like HRC/Biden. However, one very huge problem for him was also a problem for Ron Paul in 2008 and 2012, relying on young ideologically charged voters and activists. The Willie Sutton Doctrine is that robbers rob banks because that’s where the money is; likewise, 45 and older is where the voters are. As it is, Sander is polling very well in states that are whiter and bluer than average among Democrats, but not well in black heavy states like Alabama. A 25 year old left wing white activist in Portland, Oregon is in Sanders’s wheelhouse, but that’s not enough to win him the nomination. 70-year old black women in Alabama will vote HRC or Biden.

Yes, you are probably right. And is that a bad thing? A White Irish or French Canadian American grandmother living in a safe, poor but healthy White community where everybody knows each other and looks out for each other – doesn’t allow outside real estate speculators to jack up rents and mortgages so the local White townies can’t afford to live in the neighborhoods they grew up in.

I used to travel through Amish Indiana country- a decade or more ago. Loved to stop and get homeschool books from the industrious woman who ran a bookstore in a part of their barn, when I was HS’ing the brood. One of the last times I ventured through N.Indiana, I saw the saddest sight I ever have seen. Some niglet in Amish dress, was holding the hand of his grandpa (white) while the wife and the other children were walking in teh rain, back to their home from town- not even driving a carriage. I realized this was the immoral/ illegitimate spawn of a daughter seduced by the ‘dieversity’ B, who either was dead, or become ‘worldly’ or was in shame at home, not daring to show her face to teh community.
Trouble is, the genetics of that niglet are now showing theyselves, as he is probably a teen or twenty-something, strutting and crotch-grabbing as these feral animals all do. Or, he is an outcast. Hunter, I didn’t initially come across that quote at a JBS meeting. I came across it while watching Bill Still’s Money Masters. Whether there is a worldwide socialist conspiracy or not, I thought the quote provided a keen insight as to how socialist systems operate. Whether it’s American style state capitalism or the various flavors of socialism, the result has been the accumulation of wealth and power int the hands of elites. Bernie Sanders hasn’t been able to transcend his background.

The “great conspiracy” behind Cultural Marxism, is just leftists getting organized is all. They create talking points and get groups of people to get off their asses and use these talking points on the populace. That’s all there is to it.

You don’t worry about grand plans, you take these bastards one at a time and keep going, until you go get them all. Stop trying to prove grand conspiracy theories, just find an opponent and fight them. There are millions to choose from.

I thought this Atlantic Magazine article on Bernie Sanders was very good, explained why he built up popular local support in Vermont over many, many years. I think there is much our side can and should learn about how to build local support, local organization as the world, our world isn’t likely to end this next month, Jesus comes back, everybody good gets Raptured etc.
