    • There’s more toughness, more ability to endure privation, even today. The U.S. population has never experienced anything like the siege of Leningrad (872 days, the costliest siege in human history) or losing 27 million people in a war to the death for national survival.

  1. For a country that’s so “poor” and “backwards,” the supermarket and gas station in those videos sure looked 1st world. Maybe less fast food restaurants. And the concrete looked better. The roads in my state are shit.
