He got in bed with these people and was literally laughing off the prospect of a Russian invasion and declaring that Ukraine wanted to join NATO right up until the moment that the Russian tanks rolled across the border. Zelensky fooled a lot of people into believing that the intelligence must be mistaken in February by making jokes about a Russian invasion. That’s how seriously he was taking the situation before this happened. Zelensky’s prewar cavalier attitude has since been memory holed.
And this will be 100% scripted by Washington, for American political purposes, to advocate more aid. Most of this aid will just get nd up in the hands of Russia anyway, as always happens when the USA decides to throw money and weapons to a war zone.

I don’t support a military alliance with Russia or arming Russia or fighting on Russia’s side either. If Russia had invaded Kazakhstan or Ukraine had invaded Belarus, my position would be the same. This is none of our business and meddling in this region isn’t helping anyone who lives there. Even if you support the Ukrainian side and there are valid reasons to do so, how in the world is it in Ukraine’s interest to be turned into the new Syria or the new Afghanistan?
