Mr. Putin, addressing an annual foreign policy conference outside Moscow, appeared intent on capitalizing on political divisions in the United States and its allies that have only heightened since they began showering Ukraine with military aid to fend off the Russian invasion.

Many of the Russian leader’s themes were familiar, but they took on particular resonance given the coming midterm elections in the United States and growing discontent in Europe over the costs of the war.

“There are at least two Wests,” Mr. Putin said.

One, he said, is a West of “traditional, mainly Christian values” for which Russians feel kinship. But, he said, “there’s another West — aggressive, cosmopolitan, neocolonial, acting as the weapon of the neoliberal elite,” and trying to impose its “pretty strange” values on everyone else. He peppered his remarks with references to “dozens of genders” and “gay parades.”

Mr. Putin, as he often does, portrayed Russia as threatened by the possible expansion of NATO — and the values of its liberal democracies — to countries like Ukraine that were once part of the Soviet Union. …”

  10. Vladimir Putin is at war with those who, ruling over us, make war on both us and the world.

    As a Southerner, I have always appreciated his willingness to separate the United States’ Government from us, and, as well, that the Russian Parliament has made mention that they consider Dixie as a different place with different values – folks with whom Russians see in a positive and friendly light.

    Though many Southerners remain under the sway of vicious propaganda and misinformation, especially with regards to Russia, I feel free to speak for the Eternal South – though we will never see anyone or anything in an equal light, we respect diversity in the world, amongst peoples, cultures and nations, and we intend on developing and maintaining constructive and respectful relationships with all in the future, and, if not quite that, then minding our own business.

    Any Southerner who tells you he is in favour of overseas wars has been fed so much propaganda he can no longer remember who he is or what our interests are.

    That said, I take pleasure in knowing how many of my fellow Southerners are awakening daily from these terrible post-WWII lie-induced dreams.

    He could have easily positioned himself as an unapologetic figurehead of a traditionalist Christian revival. Biding his time and shoring up relations with the other Christian countries in Eastern Europe who have all been trending anti EU, anti Nato and anti globalist (ZOG). And he could have played things more patiently and continued to reintegrate economically with France, UK and Germany (who are all heavily dependent on that energy). He could with minimal physical risk to Russia have rightly claimed aggrieved status in the face of these many slings and arrows and encroachments. Russia’s proximity to Europe and value as an energy powerhouse would have overcome what was the growing irrelevance of NATO in Europe.

    Instead he seems to have been convinced he could liberate Ukraine from the “Nazi’s…” and was going to be greeted as a liberator instead of with universal suspicion of his motives as likely cynical appeals to give thin legitimacy to what looks to many as nothing but imperial revanchism.

    Instead he has staked his legacy on a poorly administered invasion, sacrificed prestige (the Russian military has been irreparably humiliated by Ukraine’s unforeseen resistance, with our help of course), and staked the future of his Christian nation on the patronage of the Chinese (and now Iran seemingly), sacrificing all hope of true independence, which should have been his highest priority.

    Where was all this realism about the West when Trump was president, doing everything he could to walk away from NATO entanglements?

    He has buttered his bread. Now he is an albatross. It will be the most tragic turn of history since Germany was needlessly obliterated in WWII (because of Hitlers failed leadership) when ZOG finally brings Russia to heel and loots it, subjects its Christian culture to full spectrum faggotry.

His job is to protect Russia and he accordingly intervened in the ongoing slaughter of Russians who populate the east and south of the fake-country called Ukraine only after 8 long years (and over 10,000 civilians killed) of attempted negotiation. The fact thousands of ostensibly conservative patriotic western white males have volunteered to go halfway around the world to fight largely white Russians on behalf of the Globo-Pedo empire as their own nations are over-run by migrants tells us all we really need to know about the state of things in the west. They will kill you and me for Jewish money just as easily as they will kill Russians.         In all candor, I can say that White Americans had it pretty good before the Soviet Union fell. Much as True Cons deride FDR for his New Deal Society, its infrastructure projects – REAL infrastructure projects were responsible for the Golden Gate Bridge and the Hoover Dam, and other structures that are still holding up today.

        I hate the awful fate of the Czar Nicholas and his family as well as the nobility, the intelligentsia and upper classes of Russia, the Ukraine, Poland, and all the other countries absorbed by the the Soviet Union.

        However, their fate scared any nonsense out of OUR intelligentsia and upper classes. They were so scared of a bloody Communist revolution HERE that they HAD to come up with programs that regulated predatory banks and stock markets and that benefited average Americans. The Democrats benefited from the good will of the American people — even Black people in areas run by the Dixiecrats because of these programs.

        No sooner than the Soviet Union dissolved, ALL regulation was taken off our financial regulations and Wall Street and Main Street suffered — not as bad as the Russians looted under that alcoholic sot, Boris Yeltzin, but they put in NAFTA and other free trade deals, brought in endless green cards to Hindus and looked the other way with the illegal alien invasion and the drug cartels they brought in. Last of all, they scape-goated Whites and White men, in particular, because with a unipolar world, they didn’t feel they needed them. And with the Economy in ruins, they got all the cannon fodder they needed to pursue Israeli expansionist interests.

        So, for all the hand-wringing and kvetching about the USA losing world currency status from the Usual Suspects, IMO we’d be far better off in the long run. In the short run, it would be brutal. The world won’t want to sell anything to us and our infrastructure has been as badly devastated as if someone dropped an atom bomb on the rust belt.

        However, we have the resources to get on our feet again. We would have to “man up” and nationalize a lot of the remaining industry which has been sold to the Chinese, other foreigners, and rich billionaires, like Bill Gates. Methinks that when, China gets its hooks into Taiwan (and with the inroads it has already made in Africa and having Afghanistan handed to them on a silver platter), China won’t be that interested in our stuff.

        Once our currency has been rendered worthless in the eyes of China and India, we’ll be forced to bring back our own industry in dribs and drabs. China and India will probably trade with each other and satellite countries. The Hindus and Pakis and other Asians will self-deport back to their countries of origin to chase the Almighty yen or rupee, taking the rest of the parasites with them.

        • I don’t “support” Putin. I just feel that what happens in his back yard which is, like it or not, the Ukraine should have never been our business in the first place and is not now our business.

          If I’m accused of disloyalty, so be it, but the American people were never consulted about engaging in any kind of war with Russia or China. Spreading our despised and degenerate “democracy” to the Ukraine and Russia is not a valid justification to make war, even Cold War on Russia. There was no formal declaration of war signed off by Congress. This is the latest example of the Usual Suspects using the Constitution as toilet paper AFAIC.

          In the meantime, I will be voting out ahy chicken hawk that is running in my area. The first order of business needs to be cutting off all funding to the Ukraine and
          negotiations with Russia that take any border countreis out of NATO. We would never stand for Soviet bases on our borders with Canada and Mexico. If we expect them to honor the Monroe Doctrine, we need to honor their version of it.

          I believe that ANY American support for the Money Laundering Operation that is the Ukraine is going to drop precipitously once the average Boobus Americanus is paying ten dollars a gallon for gas and being bled dry to pay his food and heating bills.

          It’s already happening in Europe as anti-NATO protests are springing up all over hell’s half acre. I honestly believe that if our stupidity of trying to expand NATO right into Russia’s borders continues, we are going to see all the original NATO countries withdraw. Russia may end up taking over Europe anyway non-forcibly, because the Europeans may decide to align with them. And we will have no one to blame for this but ourselves.

    • 1.) Public opinion on funding the war in the Ukraine in the GOP is currently split around 60/40 to 50/50 and is rapidly diminishing as the war drags on and the stakes get higher. Only around 30% of the GOP believes that America has a moral obligation to support Ukraine.

      2.) Kevin McCarthy needs the support of people like Marjorie Taylor Greene and Matt Gaetz.

      3.) There any number of ways to slip poison pills into Ukraine funding. I’m sure the first thing that will be tried is attaching it to border wall funding.

      4.) Most importantly, McCarthy can’t move forward with legislation without majority support inside of his own caucus because of the Hastert rule. In theory, he could work with Democrats to pass Ukraine funding, but doing so would be politically damaging.

      5.) Trump has also called for a negotiated settlement to the end the war. He is going to run for president. He will undoubtedly seize on the issue to use it against Biden and McConnell.

      We simply have a far better chance of reducing Ukraine funding and ultimately cutting it off under a Republican House than we do under a Democratic House where no dissent is allowed and the hawks in the administration are determined to escalate the war.

        2) MTG and Gaetz are only two people — all kinds of nonsense could easily pass w/o their support.

        3) I dislike such legislative chicanery and think it should be prohibited.

        4) You mean there’s a rule named after a homosexual pedophile? — who knew? — anyway, I wouldn’t take that rule too seriously if I were you, in any context — and they ought to rename it.

        5) Trump seized on a lot of issues but delivered next to nothing — I’m tired of that dumb, narcissistic buffoon and won’t be voting for him even if he manages to win the nomination (which is far from certain) — Trump will be 78 y/o on election day in 2024.

Putin ought to release Brittney Griner — not because it would do his reputation in the West any good, but because 9 years for such a victimless crime is ridiculous — it is very likely she had traveled to Russia before (for some years now, she has played for a team there during the WNBA off-season) with such cartridges in her luggage, and didn’t even know it was against the law (they were apparently not a problem in any of the airports she passed through on the way) — I heard she made $1m for every season in Russia — so a large fine, then booting her out and banning her permanently would be punishment enough.

    Anyway, what matters most in the West is the leadership, and those people are batshit crazy:
