New York Times: Elections Are Bad For Democracy

Speaking of crumbling norms and the end of normal politics, I nearly fell out of my chair laughing when I saw this op-ed in the New York Times this morning.

New York Times:

On the eve of the first debate of the 2024 presidential race, trust in government is rivaling historic lows. Officials have been working hard to safeguard elections and assure citizens of their integrity. But if we want public office to have integrity, we might be better off eliminating elections altogether.

If you think that sounds anti-democratic, think again. The ancient Greeks invented democracy, and in Athens many government officials were selected through sortition — a random lottery from a pool of candidates. In the United States, we already use a version of a lottery to select jurors. What if we did the same with mayors, governors, legislators, justices and even presidents? …

Eliminate voting, and candidates with dark triad traits would be less likely than they are now to rise to the top. Of course, there’s also a risk that a lottery would deprive us of the chance to select a leader with distinctive skills. At this point, that’s a risk I’m willing to take. As lucky as America was to have Lincoln at the helm, it’s more important to limit our exposure to bad character than to roll the dice on the hopes of finding the best. …

There it is again.

In order to protect Our Democracy from candidates like Trump with dark triad traits, maybe we should just get rid of elections and voting? Why should we bother even pretending the system isn’t rigged? Does Our Democracy really need to maintain the fiction that the process confers legitimacy on a winner? Is it necessary for ordinary people to feel like they have a choice in deciding who rules them?

  1. Are we going to be under an authoritarian one party state in the next decade or something? What does “Our Democracy” even mean at this point without elections or voting?

    Complete Lunacy and Self-Blindness!!!

  2. “Elections Are Bad For Democracy”

Yes, well, if you understand ‘Democracy’ as they do – meaning that they want to preserve this current unAmerican racket, then, yes, all elections are bad for ‘Democracy’, because it’s becoming too hard for them to arrange elections, successfully, as they did for many decades.

That’s what this means – that they used Democracy to usurp control, and now that they have it, they wish to dispense with it.

It’s exactly what they accuse Hitler and Putin of, and yet – Trump is Hitler and we who stand for constitutional and traditional American values are ‘The Nazis’.

      • @Arrian…

Yes, absolutely, BUT … we do have ‘democratic institutions’ in this Constitutional Republic, and the presidential election, or what’s left of it, is one.

      • Sorry Ivan and Arrian, we were a constitutional republic. What we are now is a despotic plutocracy of jewish overlords.

Republic>Democracy>Despotism is the devolution of the American Republic.

        • @November…

Yes, we really have nothing, at this, point, more than a sense of what it once was.

Hard to think of many decades ago, when the system seemed to work so well, and most not only respected it, they loved it.

I am grateful the Good Lord let me grow up in a time so the opposite of this.

It was a bless thing, then, to be an American.

  3. “Election’s are bad for democracy” I shall take the New York times at it’s word, that’s why we have/ had a ” CONSTITUTIONALY LIMITED REPUBLIC ” restore the Republic, or a new one, is what we DEMAND…..

    • Charles Blowhard from the NYT is calling for negroes to move south so they can form numerical majorities in southern states. Apparently colored interests can only be properly represented when colored people are in the overwhelming majority and have full political power i.e. blacks representing blacks in black polities. He has a valid point of course but with his limited intellect and surplus of bile and hate for da White folks he hasn’t thought his brilliant idea very well.

First of all there are three examples that come to mind of black folks running black societies, presumably for the benefit of Charles Blowhard’s peeps; S. Africa, Liberia and the beauty spot known as Haiti. No need to go in to detail but all three places are shithole countries as Herr Trump described them. S. Africa was the most developed of the three because of its large number of Whites there, but no longer. As the local negroes took charge the railroads, water system and electrical system have gone down to African standards.

The point Charles Blowhard misses is called reciprocity. If blacks can have black societies without Whites (what White would want to live there?) then Whites can have White societies without colored people. Everyone knows where this would go, too. Excellent, modern, universal health care, almost zero crime in spite of a well armed citizenry, clean cities and countryside, very little poverty, a space program with colonies on Mars etc.

The negroes have the richest continent on earth, Africa and it’s a pile of shit. Every city they have taken over e.g. Detroit and Baltimore has also gone to shit. If we were ever to suffer the misfortune of the colored folk taking over southern states Charles Blowhard would be one of the first to try to flee to areas where da White folks at.

      • “negroes have the richest continent on earth”

The only wealth blacks have had is the mineral wealth they accidently stand on top. At that, WHITES had to discover it and ectract it.

        Same with Arabs.

Both races were completely oblivious to the natural wealth.

      • 12AX7 ” What WHITES would want to live there ? ” Mud sharks, don lemon’s husband, Brian shelter, Sam ” punk ass ” Smith, a whole bunch of whites will end up there, like all the ones, that don’t meet our criteria……

        • Actually, Charles Blowhard’s new colored, rainbow flag republic is exactly where those misfits belong, until the natives get restless and eat them one day. You have a good point.

  4. This article is a test balloon,
to see how gullible the goyish masses are.
They are probing, to see how much they can get away with.

  5. If the person of Donald John Trump never did anything good or bad for the cause that our own sector advocates, just the fact that his political career has made the NYT so phlarking crazy and unhinged that they’re saying that we need to get rid of elections to save democracy, was worth the price of admission all by itself.

And, as a neoreactionary, I can’t help but feel a certain odd feeling of sardonic comedy about it.

  6. Barry Soetoro (Obama) did say in 2014 that the comrades of the unity hive collective are too small minded to manage their own affairs.
The enlightened unelected apparatchik expert class will build the cargo cult utopia.

  7. Well they pretty much have gotten rid of elections by rigging them. They are going to put Donald Trump in jail for the rest of his natural life on bogus charges. They act surprised that people lost faith in the election process but it was them that decided to do mass ballot harvesting which is riddled with fraud. You literally have people paid by the DNC filling out voter forms for citizens and dumping boxes of them at county election offices. And then they tell us with a straight face there is no widespread fraud going on….yeah and I got a bridge in New York I would like to sell you…

The greatest lie of the 21st century is that there was no mass voter fraud going on in the 2020 presidential election. “Have faith, you filthy citizens, in mass ballot-harvesting. It’s fair! And if you question it, you’re a conspiracy theorist!”

  8. Is it a coincidence that Jared Kushner is never a defendant in any of these politically motivated show trials?

  9. BTW, so are your finally coming around to the 2020 election being nefariously rigged by not subtle means? Or do you still believe your own Whitey’s went from here to there rationalization power point presentation you posited after the election? Sorry for all the P’s.
