USA Today: DOJ Indicts Southern Poverty Law Center, Claims Extremist Funding

My take:

1. It would be interesting to know who among us was a paid SPLC informant.

2. The vast majority of these people were informants embedded in obscure Neo-Nazi and Klan groups.

3. This is mostly ancient history that concerns groups like the National Alliance and Aryan Nations. Does it really matter these days if Erich Gliebe was a SPLC informant?

4. As I have explained on X, the informant in the “online leadership chat group” of Unite the Right was probably Azzmador although that is just speculation on my part. I have my doubts because this person was paid in April 2023 through a bank based on the East Coast.

5. The SPLC was destroyed by #MeToo and the “Racial Reckoning” and is a shell of what it used to be. They have millions of dollars and lawyers to spend on litigation.

6. Just like everything else we have seen from the Trump administration, I don’t expect anything will come of this beyond generating headlines and online noise.

7. Con. Inc. is using this to distract attention away from Trump’s political collapse and to smear anyone who doesn’t want to be associated with MAGA which is a Jewish scam.

8. Finally, “the feds” are conservatives. Trump is the president. Kash Patel is the FBI director. Conservatives control Congress and the Supreme Court. They control federal law enforcement and did nothing to prosecute anyone who was implicated by the Epstein files. Trump has pardoned dozens of people who were convicted of serious crimes like fraud.

USA Today:

“Department of Justice officials announced Tuesday that they have filed an indictment against the Southern Poverty Law Center, a well-known civil rights organization, on charges in connection with “not dismantling extremism but funding it.”

According to Acting U.S. Attorney General Todd Blanche and FBI Director Kash Patel, the Montgomery, Alabama,-based organization was funneling millions of dollars to organizations including the Ku Klux Klan and the Nationalist Socialist Party of America.

“SPLC paid members of these extremist groups,” Blanche told reporters on April 21. “To that end, it was doing the exact opposite of what it told its donors it was doing, not dismantling extremism but funding it.” …”

If this had happened to the SPLC about 15 years ago, then it would have been worth celebrating and would have made a difference but it hardly matters now.
